I actually purchased 8 in the year, so yes single. My first one was a neighbor who was getting ready to move had it sitting in his garage wanted 2500 for it. I went home started looking them up fell in love with them bought it the next day. My dad and I went to a garage sell in the mountains and a gentleman had one sitting in a round about ended up trading him a garage for it. Then my dads neighbor had a 240 which had a rebuilt motor all that fun stuff so next thing I know I have three. Here is where things got crazy. I ended up meeting a gentleman who has been working on these for at least 40 years or so. Parts for days, heads, turbo, triple Webber carbs all of it. that's when the trouble came. I bought up everyone I could find. Ended up with a low vin 70. I figured that was the one to put my money in but it came with a 72 that had been raced. It's got a glyson rear end I have the original but the motor was running crazy compression. So instead of my mechanic and i fixing them up little bit at time he decided to give me his spare racing motor. Turbo diesel crank n42 p90 head, spray bar. So everything else is on hold. the 75 has a bad piston ring. Only makes 51 pounds of pressure all others are 121. The 78 I drove away but it cuts off after it warms up. Haven't even tried starting the 70 it just sits there waiting for love. All of them came with random parts and what have you but I'm no mechanic I just love cars. Hi all, Brian has been a member here and has been a part of a discussion lately. I have just had an email from his wife, Sheryl, and he is in hospital recovering from hip replacement surgery. His cancer pain there was so bad there was no other choice even with his wonkey heart. It will be touch and go for a while. I'm sure he would love to hear from his old pals here. schoubs@hotmail.com. Cheers, Mike
  4. Yes, I have a full carpet kit ready to go. Thank you that's very kind, yeah it was beautiful moment when it roared to life. Started it up today and let it tick away at 2000 rpm until everything was good and hot, burned off oil and cured paint and coatings, checked for coolant and gas leaks, sofar everything is good. There is one oil leak on the timing cover right by the chain tensioner, I have been trying to stop that leak since I got the engine 10 yrs ago with no luck. The aluminum welding job on the cylinder head seems to be fine, no leaks. I wish I had not extended the oil pan down so much now, I have 2.5" clearance between the skid pan and the road, if it proves to be a problem I will have to pull the engine, remove the oil pan and slice an inch off the bottom of the pan and weld it up again.

In my case, there was never that much $ around. BUT makes me wonder just where the priorities were? Again in my case, he was much admired in his own eyes. You know the "me first" attitude. I lived thru that, and his getting a Lotus Elan when he totaled our VW. The final revenge for me was when I got the '71 Z, that he had been drooling over. Doing it with no financial assist from anyone, while raising his son alone. Doing well for myself I think. Mu ha ha ha... P.S. He never did get a Z. Snarf!

Oh wow, that is super nice!!! I never had a hubby buy me anything that nice, a bicycle once tho. I'm sure she is thrilled. Does going to Zcon have anything to do with it? What a GREAT trip that will be. Take lots of photos, and share here for sure. Jai

Give Brian my best and hope he recovers soon. I have backtracked through a bunch of posts in which he was involved and have learned a lot from his responses.

a little more progress. sealed all the holes in the doors. i used flextape https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xzN6FM5x_E very sticky stuff! another tire shot and the carpet installed. i need to buy a few small pieces to fill in under the seats and up the firewall, but overall, the kit i bought fit nicely. very little trimming, and plenty of over-lap. plastic trim and weatherstripping goes in this weekend. a question: do all the shifters sit so high? im thinking of cutting a couple of inches off
  10. @motorman7 Smog pump looks great! I just did this on the 73. Weird to see a smog pump installed isn't it! Yours was a reman. unit which explains the blue paint. Per page EC-10 of the FSM your pump is installed upside down. You'd discover that when you install the hoses---just sayin'

I'll have to credit my wife with that idea. She saw me struggling to carve round holes with a razor knife. I had every geometric shape except a circle. I got "that look" from her as she suggested that I could pretty up those holes? with a paper punch. I hadn't thought about a brass fitting. I've used small pieces of tubing sharpened on one end in the past too. Another thought on gasket making. (cereal boxes are my go to) The tapping with a hammer works very well but if there isn't room to tap, one can put a light coating of grease on the surface. Press the gasket material against the greasy surface. Remove the gasket and trim anything that's not greasy.

I put a Dynamat type mat and 1/2" insulation underlay on the trans tunnel and it still fit very well.
  15. That's not expensive...especially if you consider how long you have been chasing drive ability problem s and the associated mechanics fees!
