Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
3 pointsFor me, Fairlady-240ZG is the first Z which I have ever seen in my life and instantly I fell in love with it. And funny thing the first car which I saw was not a real car, it was a TAMIYA 1/12 model. TAMIYA led me into the car world when I was a kid. No matter how a toy shop located in a small town, TAMIYA was available. And on top of the shelf , there were 240ZG and Safari 240Z , also Porsche 911 . Kids could not reach their hands so most of them ended up just dreaming about. So I can say it is all because of TAMIYA , not Nissan ! I think most of kids had a same story like me at that time in Japan (I was 6 years old in 1975). I had a no idea about Z432 , 240ZG was a whole thing for me. If TAMIYA made a Z432, it would be a different. On the other hand , adults know the Z432 by reading car magazines and people who lived near the big city would visit Nissan show room and , many young people went to Fuji Speed Way to see the racing Z432-R. I am feeling strange there is a big TAMIYA in front of me . Kats3 points

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
2 pointsI found ZG has a splash pan too, no-hole , early type. And the oscillator, it sits up side down! But the rally clock keeps ridiculously correct time. From the original owner's memo, the owner comprained about bad keeping time soon after he bought this car ,and the dealership replaced it with a new one. Kats PS : You see "H-H " written with a choke , I see this is a sign of 240ZG , HS30-H .2 points

Finally got one...now to make it mine: 1973 240z Refresh / Personalisation
I'll second what Rich said! Eiji's package of engine bolts is the cats meow---I used them on both of my Z's and new fasteners really look nice! Jim D. "Zup"1 point

'72 240Z Rebuild
1 pointGiven the limited description, I'd say everything is just fine. Timing chains are supposed to run tight and 8" of leverage on the crank nut isn't much leverage to turn it over. Especially a new engine.1 point

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
1 pointWhat a neat story. I am one of those kids too except I pitched a fit and ended up with the model but my Dad wouldn't let me play with it. He put up on the "top shelf" thank goodness or I would have destroyed it.1 point

Do You Wear Driving Gloves?
1 pointThere is a functional aspect to the gloves for sure. In my case, the Z no longer has the original thin smooth steering wheel and the Miata has a thicker padded wheel that is a bit grippy on its own so the need for additional grip is reduced. For me the style aspect is not high on my list but for street use does outweigh any functional need. I like what I consider a somewhat erstwhile look and the romance of the "old days" when "motoring" was a thrill and a more esoteric pursuit than it is today. All I need is a flat cap and a picnic basket with lunch and a bottle of wine in the boot (and maybe a long scarf flying in the wind) and the look will be complete.1 point

1976 280Z Restoration Project
1 pointI used new EV1 connector with the quick release sprinb clip. Had them for more than a year now and no problems. They cost $25 including shipping to the netherlands. Everything I found here in the wrecking yard was old, dirty and corroded. I made a screen shot of one of the vendors with the same connectors. I asked him to send via USPS instead of Ebays global shipping charges. Savd $5. Like your idea of making a sub-harness. It will look good with the pallnet fuel rail.1 point

Points Distributor governor springs (FSM conundrum)
yeah i'm quite familiar with standalone engine management- but this is the first points distributor i've had to attempt to rebuild myself- and the car is being restored to its factory originality, so no room for EMS.1 point

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
1 pointTools and books This 240ZG came with all the tools and books , I can see the paper has a stamp dated " 47 . 6 . 15" means 15th Jun 1972. And the screw driver is a reversible type, and a wood grip! I will show inside of the books , invoices, and a highlight is an owners memo which was recoded for his questions / complains / wants etc. Kats1 point
