  1. We are all learning some valuable lessons here, so I don't mind the posts. The local guy to me is actually the better choice. He can't do anything fancy like replace valve seats, but he does seem to know how to do a valve job okay. Word on the street, which I wish I knew earlier, is that my problem is I am dealing with a kid with nice equipment. He doesn't know how to run a business and I think he has a pride issue. These Datsun motors require a little more work and someone that wants to deal with the geometry needs of a solid lifter cam. Next head will be a Rebello cam kit complete with proper lash pads and the experience of a Datsun engine builder. So done with my current 'builder' He did say that the head will be mine tomorrow. He bragged about fussing over the minor details of cleaning the head up. All I wanted was to have it DONE! I don't even want to think about the invoice. I might be telling him to sell on ebay
  2. , yeah I recall coming out of pubs and having friends want a ride home (I wasn't drunk) and a couple of girls trying to squeeze into the 1 passenger seat. Always made me nervous someone was going to snap the choke knob or break the center console by sitting on it. Non car people just don't understand. "Sure you can give me a lift I'm only up the road c'mon"..
  3. Good choices and good stories guys. The NSX's are probably as close to exotic as I will ever get but I have never lusted for one. I hear ya DJ on finding a clean 510 2-door. They may not be "collectable" but a clean one is more rare than many other exotics and high optioned muscle cars. I think Datsun's were looked at as cheap cars for a long time and to this day nice ones are still "affordable" I know I never want anything that I cannot get basic mechanical parts for at the local auto parts store. Classic Z's and early 90's Cadillacs fit the requirement well for me. Porsche's, they are just expensive in every way imaginable. Yes I love the way they look and enjoy watching all the videos about then but again, never lusted for one. At the end of the day, I love window shopping. Craigslist is the best and worst thing that ever found its way in to my life. Thank you Internet!
  4. Part numbers for GM and AC Delco " Friction Modified " Syncromseh Transmission Fluid. BTW. The GM Fluid and AC DELCO are the exact same part. Just different labels. Lordco seems to have one of the best prices. $12.75 CDN per liter wholesale. AC DELCO CDN part number : 10953509. For USA members the AC DELCO USA part number is: 88900399. GM USA part number is: 12377916 Edit: All of these part numbers are the same fluid. For some reason GM/AC Delco keeps changing the packaging and part numbers. I've just found out this morning that some Canadian GM dealers have this fluid under both the old numbers and the newer ones. Friction Modified Synchromesh Fluid on left ( The Magic Elixar ) . Regular GM Synchomesh Fluid on the right. Notice difference in Part numbers and Labeling. The good stuff always says " Friction Modified ": GM Packaging of the good stuff: AC Delco packaging of the good stuff. Can be White or Black bottle depending on alignment of Planets. Go by Part # and description. c
