I'm pulling my hair out trying to get the hood lined up on my 240Z. I have no issues lining the hood up fore and aft. My problem is the leading edge of the hood sits too proud (higher) nearly 1/2" of the fenders. I first tried loosening the two bolts that attach the hinge to the hood bracket to gain adjustment. That was great for fore and aft adjustment but did not help hood height. Next I loosened the three hinge bolts to the body to see if the hood hinge was set too high. The hinge is as low as it will go and the hood still sits way too proud. I'm sure there's a procedure, and am wondering if any of you have solved this in the past. I'm trying one side at a time. Thoughts?

Here are a few pics showing side to side hood alignment and the raised corner on the driver's side. Passenger's side is not quite as high but still much higher than the headlight bucket. The latch holds the hood down and the side to side alignment is pretty good. No interference from the rubber hood bumpers on the side of hood.

So the way I do that, is loosen the three bolts on both hinges. Push the hood down as far as it will go and retighten. The hinges will pivot some when you push it down. Sometimes you can't get that down if the pivot points are too worn.

No offense but the pictures don't show much. On the last picture the right side might be up a bit but it's hard to tell. The first picture seems to be with the hood/bonnet partially open. The middle picture looks fine, no problems apparent. Doesn't really fit what you wrote.

How about a picture from the sides showing the raised edge? I'd also take some shots of the hinge mechanisms with hood open. Might be a clue there.

From this picture I'd guess it's in the hinges too.

Irregardless how it looks you need two or three would be great while it’s being pushed down on both sides at the same time. as far as it will go then tighten the hinges. Mine dropped below the line while pushing both sides at once. The hinges will spring back a little bit to bring it up. That was my case recently. Had 3 guys and the grille was removed.

That guy is amazing. After seeing that video if the springs are shot that would have to be addressed first. Were you having any issues before disassembling?

Here are a couple shots of the hinges, left and right. Not sure you can really see anything that looks wrong. I'll try again tomorrow with both side hinges loose and pressure on the hood before tightening. Sightunseen, here's a couple of shots of my Z. It's actually been done for years and I'm finally getting around to the hood, though it was much better before I started on "alignment."

That looks fantastic! I bet you had a lot of lookers at the car show.

Maybe take a closer look at the passenger's side. I can see some dark around the rear bolt maybe from being slid up a little too much?
