Wonder why some Craftsman's are red and blue and some are clear and blue? I've got a lot of both, even a set a of barbeque tools made with the red and blue handles.

Best one I've ever used, found on the side of the interstate too.

r/Tools - NTD: Girlfriend’s parents got me this ratcheting screwdriver as a Christmas gift. It took me a few days (and Googling Snap-On) to realize how nice of a gift it was.

What I have...the red/blue are flat head, the blue/clear are philips, and the black/clear are torx. This seems to be the standard from what I've seen in stores for decades. Maybe some older tools were different.

When I pulled the brake-drum cover off with the puller, the shoe retaining clip's cup-washer flew off (the one that sits between the spring and shoe) and is nowhere to be found. Can I use any washer that fits, or does it have to have those cup-like ends?

This is the part I'm referencing:

Are you talking about #21?

You could probably find those in the Dorman section at a local parts store.

Nope, I'm talking about #19 - sorry about that. I'll update the link now.

The aftermarket hardware kit at O'Reilly's has 8 of those retainer washers rather than 4 retainers and 4 cup washers. One on each side of the spring to keep it centered and in place - would work.

Sounds good, I'll give it a shot. Should I replace the cup washer on the other side with this to keep it symmetrical or does it not matter?

My OCD would have me doing both the same BUT I doubt that it would actually matter. The real purpose of the pins and springs is to keep the shoe in place while you get the drum back on and to provide some anti-chatter.

gotcha - so in that case, are the curved edges of the washer really necessary for proper operation or will a flat washer do? I called courtesy nissan down the road and they can get it but its $22 for a washer - I couldn't believe it!
