Hi all! I'm spending most of March in Japan, and as I'm slowly restoring my 240z, figured there may well be some treasure troves of parts hidden away somewhere I can get to. Either that or a friendly enthusiast who might be good to meet!

If you know of anywhere or anyone, I'd love recommendations or introductions.

@kats might have some suggestions?

Things in Japan are not as 'obvious' to an outsider as they might be in NA and Europe.  I agree with CO, in that Kays may prove invaluable.  However, you need to be specific about what it is that you're looking for.

Go to the Nissan museum wherever it is. All I have seen were the pictures and it's fantastic. Kats is a pilot so he's probably pretty busy but maybe...?

Have fun and try not to spend all your money in the dirty panties vending machines. That's what I'd do.

 

I am so sorry that I didn’t know I was mentioned here. Goldair, did you enjoyed your trip in Japan? To find some right places for enthusiasts like you and us is a bit difficult. Yes Nissan Yokohama HQ is the good to start, easy access and a lot of cars on the display, with Starbucks.

Visiting popular vintage car shop or parts vender is also nice, if you are lucky you will be able to see a car restoration in progress.

I don’t want people to rush into a restoration shop but if someone serious let me know. A Z432-R is now on the zig for its restoration.

siteunseen, I didn’t know there is a vending machine other than beverage, Cup noodle.

I wish Nissan could place small parts vending machines all over the country!

That sounds amazing — especially the idea of seeing a restoration in progress, that must be a rare experience. Are there any other lesser-known places in Japan you’d recommend for classic Nissan enthusiasts, and do you think the Z432-R restoration might ever be something visitors can actually view safely?
