December 16, 20231 yr comment_660246 I would love to get my hands on that 280, there is potentially a good car in there. He has only one shot of the floor pans, I've asked him to post some more. I'm tempted bid on it but with the exchange rate and transporting it across the continent the costs could get out of hand pretty quick. December 16, 20231 yr comment_660253 Pics 87-90 are concerning, don’t recall this area being a common point for rust. Prices have certainly taken a hit over the last few months for early (1970) Z’s. The white one yesterday barely hit $27k. December 17, 20231 yr comment_660258 They were on my 78 LH side just barely above the hood hinge. Body man told me it was caused by two dis similar metals. That area rusts out because the drain hole was plugged up with seam sealer, so the water sits there in a pool. The 2nd pic I have chipped it out. December 17, 20231 yr Author comment_660262 It's a no reserve have fun big bumper last year 280Z driver. Not a 71 collector model restoration worthy investement. Don't get too carried away in the critiques. It's for the guy who wants a drivable hobby car. Or a quick flip. Buy it, get it running, keep another Z on the streets, make a few bucks. December 17, 20231 yr comment_660271 On picture 146 we see the data plate under the hood.. is it normal for a 280z to not have the engine number on it? but just L28 ?? HUH?? .... what about matching numbers, it's not on the data plate! December 18, 20231 yr comment_660299 I believe Datsun stopped listing the engine # after 1976, on the data plate. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64671-zs-on-bat-and-other-places-collection/?&page=200#findComment-660299 Share on other sites

December 20, 20231 yr Author comment_660383 Interesting low number 1970 on BaT. The seller is not really pushing the uniqueness angle. He says $10,000 reserve, but BaT says No Reserve. He might get it anyway, if a collector/restorer gets interested. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-115/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64671-zs-on-bat-and-other-places-collection/?&page=200#findComment-660383 Share on other sites
December 20, 20231 yr comment_660386 If you can get it between 10&12 it might be a good deal. Needs a lot of work IMO. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64671-zs-on-bat-and-other-places-collection/?&page=200#findComment-660386 Share on other sites

Lots of nickels and dimes waiting to be spent but it should be pretty easy to get back in to good running shape. Might even make a good "will it run and drive XX miles" video. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-datsun-280z-158/ Finished at $7000. A decent price for a southwest car.
