Zed Head Posted November 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2018 Not much info available. Three things, below. There has to be details somewhere, nobody would bid on color and drive train alone would they? And I thought "Fairlady" was for Japan market cars. Seems "in your face" to put the wrong label on an American engine in a 240Z. An odd thing to do. The car seems kind of like that Gas Monkey car. Lots of show, but is it fun to drive? NVZEE Posted November 13, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) Interesting. Seems the old girl has - shall we say - been around the block before: https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1973-DATSUN-240Z-CUSTOM-COUPE-222608 Edited November 13, 2018 by NVZEE
Pmg Posted November 13, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) If you guys are interested in purchasing I can get you in touch with a Mecum consignor. His kids are my pts. and he's given the Gold pass access in the past for the Auction when it comes to town. Edit: nice find NVZEE. To me that's a tall price for a v8 restomod, but it does look nice. Edit - got my dates wrong. In the video he says September 27-29, 2018. Did the sale fall through or is it back on the block by the new owner? Not sure why you'd put a fuel cell, with filler cap in the cabin, in a street car. A drop spilled and you're smelling gas for hours. Not my world. Just a watcher. Edit - why make a video but not show the car driving? A few engine revs and some idling. Edited November 13, 2018 by Zed Head
Zed Head Posted November 13, 2018 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2018 It's on the SOLD! list at msclassiccars. Lots more info too. A build list with hours and parts costs. Looks like it was built to sell. It really does look more like that Gas Monkey car. They built it to show what they can do. All of the parts are the common names you see on the performance Z sites. http://msclassiccarsllc.com/VehicleDetails.aspx?vid=565 http://msclassiccarsllc.com/Vehicles.aspx?vid=40 It has Home Depot parts! Oh no... Just kidding...
87mj Posted November 13, 2018 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2018 I never understood why a person would go through the trouble of painting a car but they wouldn't bother removing the nuts from the front strut towers. instead they paint over them.

siteunseen Posted November 14, 2018 Share #10 Posted November 14, 2018 (edited) That's pretty funny they put the Japanese badges "Fairlady" on an LS motor which is American. Should have been "Datsun". Coca Cola vs New Coke. Those damn Americans are nuts. Edited November 15, 2018 by siteunseen
