Getting my 73 240z to start

Run a fuel line from the bottom of the fuel filter into a 2.5 gallon fuel jug.  Bypass the dirty fuel tank. If it runs bungee cord the jug tight and try driving around the neighborhood.  If it stays running you'll need to clean the fuel tank.  That's what I did and it runs fine now.  We're here if that doesn't work. 8^)

but it isn't starting, battery is fine, grounded spark plugs, all 6 work. Engine doesn't turn.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks!

Starting fluid is always a quick way to see if most of the basics are in place.

Any chance you could add more information?  For all we know you either just pulled it from the bottom of a lake, or it was running fine ten minutes ago, or anywhere in between.

So it was running about a year ago and has just been sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I checked the fuel line into one of the carbs it was dry. So I put more gas into the tank and using the starter to move the fuel though and it did the trick.

Took it for a drive also! Miss driving that car! But when I pulled back into the garage I noticed I have a collant leak. Any suggestions on that? Want to repair that as well

He said it doesn't turn. I assume he means it doesn't have starter activation...the 4th thing needed. Could be a lot of things from jammed starter gears to bad starter to electricity not getting there etc etc.

Cheers, Mike

Pretty sure he got it running.  He used "turn" when he meant "fire" or "start".

theab, locate the source of the leak first.  Can't really decide what to do if you don't know where it's leaking.  Check the bottom of the radiator, the hose to the heater core, the back of the cylinder head, etc.
