Koop's 76' 280z Posted June 13, 2017 Author Share #25 Posted June 13, 2017 Haha!! You know, right after posted the claim about 77, I was thinking the exact same thing and was thinking someone may bring that up! However, looking at the pic of the engine compartment, it appears to have the 77 PCV hose routing, so barring higher res pics of the engine, I (got lucky and) stand by the claim of 77.It's probably a 77 then but I believe it was built in late 76.Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Captain Obvious Posted June 13, 2017 Share #28 Posted June 13, 2017 I bet that's about right. Late 76 build. Sloped rear deck, and titled (at least it should be) as a 77.

siteunseen Posted June 13, 2017 Share #30 Posted June 13, 2017 If the recall was fixed there'll be a sticker on the underside of the hood, passenger side. But it's not the original hood?

Koop's 76' 280z Posted June 13, 2017 Author Share #32 Posted June 13, 2017 Update: changed the oil, oil filter and put a battery in it, on acc everything works interior lights, radio etc.. but when I go to start it the volt meter drops to nothing and it shorts it. After trying to start it the acc don't work unless I unplug and re plug the battery then it restarts the cycle. Engine is free, I'm going to start checking grounds and clean them... any advice/help is gladly appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
Zed Head Posted June 14, 2017 Share #33 Posted June 14, 2017 That's typical of dirty battery connections, or fusible link connections. The corrosion heats up when current flows and the connection opens up. It's not a short, it's an open circuit. Clean, and maybe give a little extra crimp to the ends of the fusible links, and the battery connections. If you have clamp-on cable ends, take them off and clean the copper wire, or just get better cables. Pretty common. I almost replaced my starter once, even though I knew all about the cable connection problem.
