Installed the .040 over ITM pistons. Torqued the main and connecting rod caps. Looking good. BTW Madkaw...the pistons are flush with deck.

okay, just curious where this combo left you with the ITM pistons. So 1mm HG?

Whatever the stock gasket is.....I believe it's like .055 inches.

My L29 engine builder had to mill the 0.030 over pistons a little off the top for his own peace of mind I believe. Otherwise he told me I needed a 2-3mm head gasket. I'd have to ask him exactly why. How often do builders keep pistons flush?

It's not about keeping the pistons flush- it's about setting up proper head to piston clearance based on the head gasket used. Thru research I have read that the best set up is .022-.027 clearance , but that might be too tight for some comfort levels. It's all about ideal parameters to fight detonation.

I'm running about .027

Most stock Nissan L motors have a pistons above the block from .014- .019

Went to work on the Z Doctor P79 head today. I geometried all the wipe patterns for the Isky Stage III cam and valve springs. All rockers centered out with .160 lash pads except 2 which were .150's. I use an old egg carton to keep everything in order. Hope to start reassembly soon.
