"Style" question

Any ideas on what the best style is for the front air dam on a 240Z?

I'm a bit "old school" in what I like, but please offer your suggestions (with pics if possible).

Nothing too low that I'll end up "collecting" a few of these guys :bunny:

keep it simple. I like em with no vents. I am a bit "old school" too. I think they look good painted gunmetal grey as well, but that is me. They look good body color as well.

For bare bones looks, I think the "Spook" is the way to go on the 240Z. If you aren't going to radically modify the car, then this front spoiler looks classy. I don't have any pictures but I'm sure another member could provide a photo.

In my opinion, anything you put on the front end is going to be "too low" for street use. It is not just the spook that you will tear up. The whole lower valance is at risk as well. Having said that....

I like the ducted vents. Ben makes a good point about elegance and simplicity with his examples. I would call them air dams and they look very classy. Very good for higher speed stability. I like the air ducts for the brakes. Do consider the scoop look for increased cooling efficiency. Again, my opinion, but I think these enhancements are more purpose look than styling look.

If you aren't looking for pure stock appearance, but want to maintain the integrity of the bacic look go with the spook.

I have had my car for 20 something years, and at one time I had the spook style and for the past 15, 16 years I have had the same ductless fiberglass airdam. It's your car and what ever you decide will be your own expression of how you want your car to look. Plus you can always change something like that.

Have fun !!!!!

I just haven't been able to make up my mind on which way to go. Just when I think I am set on getting the Spook Air Dam, I start to think the one like 26th posted in his first picture has a more finished look. But then again I don't want to get too modern. Spook with the brake vents might be the best compromise between the two examples posted. Oh well, I'm no where near that point yet anyway. Repair panels is where I'm at now. Just ordered a pair of new seat brackets from http://www.baddogparts.com/ to go along with my new floorpans from Zeddfindings. Will report back when they get here.

Ed, you sure have good taste. That red 240Z looks sharp! It looks so much like my Z I had to do a double take. Wait a minute...it is mine!!! Regarding the spoiler, yes they are pretty vulnerable and I have had one nocked off by a silly wabbit years ago. With my Z sitting pretty low I do have to be very concious of where and what I drive over. Speed bumps and steep driveway entrances/exits are a big no no!!! But as was once said....if you want to play, you got to play! If anyone has questions about my Z, feel free to ask, I like sharing info to help out other Z car freaks.

I'm with Ben, love the look of a no-fuss spoiler. Here is another picture: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7825

I also love the spook, would have a hard time choosing between them... I think it depends a lot on what you want the car to *be*. If it's going to be all period-correct and mostly original, I'd go with the spook (hold the vents please!). For your car, Moyest, I'd go the airdam.

That said, I like the looks of a Z without any front spoiler too...

That probably made it more confusing for you :)LOL Just my opinion.

I am with you Alfa on opting not to opt for a front spoiler. I think they look good with or without them. I will not put one one my car, as there are very few factory front spoilers out there. The car can still look mean and low without the airdam. IMHO.
