First off, I do apologize for my noob question (i know, so you dont need to repeat it to me). After a month of my z being neglected, i was finally (my mechanic neighbor actually) able to get the engine running. He told me that i need a water pump and a radiator. He got me a water pump for $20 but cannot find a radiator. My question is, living in the inland empire (San Bernardino County California), where temps are regularly at 90-105, what radiator should i get? I've always told myself that I'm only gonna upgrade to something better and modern (since I'm not looking into restoring this particular z) whenever a certain part craps out on me. I'm looking for a local southern…

I find myself having to go through a 1 time smog check with my '73. I talked to the tech while having my 911 smogged and he said it might pass with the triple Webers as long as the expected smog equipment was in place. I know the '73 didn't have an air pump, did it have an EGR? I forgot to grab my factory service manual while I was in Sacramento today... That would have told me.

currently working on rebuild of 73 240. went out to purchase some new bumpers and other various pieces from a fella out of town, and was surprised to see alot of other items for sale in his garage also. long story short, i purchased all he had that was for a 240z, one item of which was this new motor. supposedly pulled from a 71, it looks incredibly clean, but has obviously had some work done to it. here's the scoop. The motor has all that is common to a 71 l24, e88, dome top su's, no smog items, etc. however, the block has been painted( orange), gaskets are obviously new, clutch looks like it has very few kilos on it also. PO, says that that he found it in a 'barn find'…

There is a big "shine and show" up in my area (Auburn CA) tonight. There are 200+ cars that show up and is really neat. I haven't been to it all year and this is the last one of the year. I've posted pictures of my car on a British car forum and have been scoffed at for bastardizing the car in such a way. The engine swap was done 25+ years ago by a PO, and frankly it performs better than stock, is more reliable than stock and costs a fraction of the cost to maintain. It will be interesting to see people's reaction to the car when viewing it today. Here is the placard I made that will be sitting under the hood.

If you failed to catch the show over the weekend, you missed a great show. One Word, DATSUN They had two Datsun roadsters, 240z and a mid 60's pickup. This was the K&N Classic Car Show. The show was on speedvision.

Hello all, I am looking at a 1978 280Z. My mechanic, who is a big Z fan and owns a couple, has worked on this car and says it's in excellent shape both mechanically and body wise. The owner says he is into it for 11K. He bought it from the original owner in southern states. He is asking $6800. needs new paint and maybe some small cosmetic interior work like new carpet. Body is 99% rust free. Needs new carpets. All gauges work including clock. Floors are good. Very little bit of rust near battery box. Terrible paint job. Engine is good. Original engine. Supports are rust free. Dash has a cover on it. My question is if I can get it for $6000 is that a good price? Thanks Chr…

Just a little rant about "The Car Show"! Watched the show last night and as usual it included some pretty dumb stuff! However, it does have some good stuff, just not enough. Here is the real point of my post.....Adam, a self proclaimed Datsun guy, was visiting some rich guys car collection, which was very nice and included a really nice Datsun race car that had won a championship title. Adam comments by saying...Oh, nice 240Z, when any Datsun person could see was a 280Z!!! I just thought it was sad/funny that a self proclaimed Datsun guy doesn'tt know the difference between a 240 and a 280.:stupid: Tom

Folks, Not real sure where to put this post, or for that matter, what to title it, but here goes. NEVER DULL: more versatile than you think! One product, Never Dull, you probably either use or have heard of, but do not use. It's the bottom-shelf metal polishing wadding stuff. Whatever its merits as a metal polish, it is the absolute best old wax remover that I've ever found. Wipe it on, wipe it off with a cloth. Considering how well it works on old wax, its probably taking off new wax as well, so aim carefully and given enough time, I wouldn't doubt it would start on the paint, so be quick about it. I've never had a problem with it removing paint, but I don't reall…
