I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the carbs on my 72 240z? I have stock ones, whatever they are I don't know. I could take a picture if theres a problem figuring them out. I want cheap, but descently better performance. I was thinking useing the SU carbs? What all do I need to swap them? I just put a new cap, rotor, wires and plugs on my car also. But I would like to upgrade to electronic ignition from the later 280z's instead of points. How can I go about doing this, what do I need? Also can I put a high performance coil on it also, what brand and where can I get it? And lastly, Brakes. They are in need of atleast new pads/shoes. I'v read alot about us…

I am researching the oft practised transplant of 2.8 engine into a 240z a project which I propose to do along with adding a 3.90 diff while I am at it. The plethora of information available on the subject originates principally from our Northern American cousins. The information I got from Brian Little's Datsun Garage says to obtain several parts from a 280Z, viz. the curved rear cross member, moustache bar, half shafts, drive shaft and front cross member. As I understand it this is because of the difference in size between the stock 240 diff and the R200. My question is this. As we did not have the 280z in Australia where can I source the parts I need for this project. I…

I have an L28 in my 240z, it was there when I bought it. I have no idea what it came out of. I'm curious as to what it came out of.. but since it's an Australian car I suspect it's out of a 280C, or maybe a 280ZX, we didn't have 280Z's Either way it has a F54 block and an N42 head. My main concern is if it is out of a 280C how does this effect the redline. What is the Red line on the 280C? Is it as high as the 240? Or have I been over revving my engine So I guess my question is what is the redline on a L28 with F54 block and N42 head? Thanks In Advance Ozlime240Z

Help please help. I am the original owner of a first 6-month 260Z and although it only has 40k original miles. I need new rubber everywhere. There are master kits for up to 73' and other kits from the last 6 month 260z on, but my question is do the bushings from the later 240 ie. 1973 fit? Bill

The interchangeable wheel thread (4 X 114.3) is a great start for wheels but what about other parts? Has anyone compiled a list of interchangeable parts other then wheels from non Z cars? Would be very useful when going to the salvage yards. We will know exactly what would work and what wouldnt! I've heard of throttle bodies, alternators etc.. that work with some of our models but the info is scattered all over the net. Let me get the ball rolling with an obviouse one thats been a brake upgrade for many. Toyota 4 x 4 Calipers - 1979-83 Toyota Pick up (4 cylinder model, stamped with S12 on the side), straight swap.

I need a little advice from someone who has actually done this. I have a '72 240 (bone stock) and I have recently acquired a '83 ZXb 5-speed, a '76 280Z Mustache Bar and now have access to a 280ZX R200 3.90 and Stub Axles. My car has a curved cross member already. What else (besides a clutch) do I need to complete this conversion. Can I use my propeller shaft or do I need one from a 280Z (have read both ways)? Can I use my half shafts with the 280ZX Output shafts? If not can I use the half-shafts from a 280ZX? I really don't want to take this car apart just to find out I need another part. It has not been easy finding the parts I have (I live in Raleigh, NC). Seems p…
