  2. Missed 2 car shows yesterday because of rain but made up for it today as did others. A lot of classics out around here on a beautiful day. Car ran great! Here's to the rest of the day fellows, it's drinking time, all driving is over. 🍻
  3. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to create a few knowledge-base articles. ;)
  4. Excel workbook (sheet) is ready to upload to an appropriate section of the resources. Google sheet also has been updated: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Cmnw0F8N7B3VknCzNwGkfN2SGmIHdFJhDjARv3jkxNI/edit?usp=sharing Can someone confirm that you can expand and collapse the groups? You should be able to. Note that the order I have this in, from top to bottom (the sections), follows what I believe to be the best sequence of assembly - for a fully dismantled car.

  7. That would be a great addition. @Mike Within the 'Knowledge' tab, there seems to be no appropriate 'category' for Inline6's list. Perhaps we could benefit from an additional category called 'Hardware'. It could hold contributions dealing with fasteners, hoses, materials, finishes, chemicals, and the like. Maybe even an additional one, titled 'Tools'. Years ago, two other Z owners created similar 'S30 Fasteners' spreadsheets. However, neither was even close to yours in terms of whole-vehicle coverage. Both of the authors ran out of steam after listing about 20 items. One of them actually included photos of some of the more important items. Easy to see why he tired of the project fairly quickly!

  11. Dear forum users, as my saddler lost the glove box lid of my 280z (from 1977) including the lock I am still searching for a lock including keys in good shape (working). I managed to acquire a lid via craigslist in the US and a brand new closing mechanism via ebay for in total around 150 €, but still miss the lock. Does anybody have a lid or a single lock? Thank you for your kind help, Christian

  13. I ran across a spare intake manifold for my '71 while cleaning the garage. Any idea what the smaller tube on the brake booster vacuum line connects to? Thanks!
  14. "Workbook" is a term used to reference a spreadsheet "project" in Microsoft Excel. A spreadsheet is typically a single tab, whereas several tabs (each a spreadsheet) is a workbook. I went looking through my old posts and evidently I indicated that I would update the Google sheet from time to time (I am the author), and I would wait on uploading the Excel version until it was complete. I have not uploaded the Excel version to the resources section yet. I just made a couple of edits to it this week. It seems that I should go ahead with uploading it to the resources section, as it is pretty much as complete as I intend to make it.
  15. The wiring pigtail for my 70 Z's antenna also consisted of just 2 power wires (i.e. no ground wire).
  16. Ah, that would be my bad... The "Resources" menu button was combined with Community.. I just fixed it. Sorry for the confusion. Mike
  17. I just checked the wiring harness from #6521 and it does not have the extra wire that @motorman7 was asking about. I also pulled out the antenna that I had installed in that car back in 1980. I got it from my local Datsun Dealer, all they could get was one for an early 280Z. That one has two power wires plus a ground wire. I didn't use the ground wire and just let it ground by the mounting bracket. Here's a pic. I also have a spare one from the lot of parts that came with #957. It has only the two power wires, no ground wire. Here's a couple of pics of my wiring harness from #6521, without the ground wire, with both antennas and the speaker.

  23. I think that the 'ground wire' consists of the braided wire shown in this photo of the disassembled antenna assembly from my 1970 Z . The larger, toothed washer gets clamped between the assembly casing and the inside of the fender, while (IIRC) the smaller, smooth washer slips over the antenna mast. The purpose is to ground the mast...
  24. @inline6 What do you mean by 'workbook'? And what do you mean by 'resources section of this website'? (I can't find anything tabbed as 'Resources') p.s. Thanks for the link to the spreadsheet. That's the most comprehensive and detailed list of S30 fasteners that I've seen so far. All that's missing are the part numbers (although adding those would be a huge task). If possible, it would be a great addition to the 'Knowledge Base' section of the CZCC website. Do you know the identity of the author?

Here are some pics showing exactly what areas I had the paint protection film applied to, in some of the pics you have to squint to see it. It actually goes 21" up the hood, which makes it about 5" past the headlight scoops where it goes over the fenders. I'm ready for my first road trip of the year, in two weeks. My Zed club is doing a weekend run to Kelowna and surrounding towns in the Okanagan. 😎

  27. yellow chromate hex head bolts (4 on recess in head) M10 X 1.25 - 25mm under head - fully threaded yellow chromate split lock washers - M10 yellow chromate flat washers - 22mm od - 10.5mm id Not comprehensive, but a good start - speadsheet cataloging the hardware on a 240Z: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Cmnw0F8N7B3VknCzNwGkfN2SGmIHdFJhDjARv3jkxNI/edit?usp=sharing The above descriptions are found by looking at the "rear bumper". There is copy of the workbook in the resources section of this website as well. Sorry, I had to edit that significantly!

Since the factory 14″ spare wheel will not clear big-brakes, we are proud to offer a 15″ Panasport wheel and tire combo that will fit perfectly in the spare tire well. In addition to great looks this setup is also significantly lighter than the factory spare. This is one of those small things we love to offer that make your Z enjoyable on long journeys. http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5807.jpg The 15″ Panasport wheel runs a 155/80/15 tire and first perfectly in the factory spare well area. Below is a comparison with the factory 14″ spare: http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5816.jpg http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5812.jpg We love how the 15″ Panasport spare looks. Here it is mounted on our client Ken’s 1970 Datsun 240Z (vin #1762) 16×7 Panasport wheels from Z Car Garage with a 225/50/16 tire: http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5768-e1747888213578.jpg Z Car Garage 15″ Panasport spare wheel with a 155/80/15 tire: http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5778.jpg Side profile with the 15″ Panasport spare: http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5774.jpg Easy clearance on Z Car Garage Big-Brakes (or almost any larger brake-kit): http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5794.jpg The 15″ Panasport wheel and tire combo (32lbs) offers a significant weight savings of 8lbs over the factory spare (40lbs) setup! http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5757.jpg http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5753.jpghttp://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5764.jpg http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5759.jpg Rear view showing difference in tire width. 15″ spare (top), 16″ (bottom): http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5785-e1747886786111.jpghttp://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5773-e1747886826669.jpg More photos of the 15″ spare on different cars including like Mrs. Butters, our Series 1 shop 240z http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5409.jpghttp://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_4739.jpg http://www.zcarblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_5412.jpg Retail cost of the wheel will be $250, giving you the option to choose your own tire. What are Euro-Top pistons? What did the chambers measure out at? Just curious about compression ratio. You should add a driving video. Good luck.

  34. 1978 280z I want to replace my fusible link holder with a new blade fuse box. When I search here, I get thousands of post to review. Many fuse boxes are listed on Amazon and other sites. Any thoughts on the better ones to use? .
