We lost one of the good guys
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/12/sports/carroll-shelby-builder-of-cobra-sports-car-dies-at-89.html Published: May 11, 2012 Carroll Shelby, a Texas chicken farmer turned hot-rodder who went on to build innovative sports cars like the Cobra that challenged Europe's longtime dominance of road racing, as well as high-performance versions of production cars like the Ford Mustang, died on Thursday in Dallas. He was 89.

Map Light 71Z
Do you need just the innards or the bezel for the heater panel as well? I have the inner works in good shape, lens and switch and bulb. This is the switch that you push on the right side of the lens to turn on and off.

Initial review of MSA weber 40 DCOE carb kit
Very interesting info in this thread. I used the stock linkage and made my own pieces from the rod out of the firewall to the rest. Let me know what you think. If you are fabbing your own pieces, use 7073 aluminum, which is one of the harder alloys. Anything softer will start wallowing out any holes in a short time, and totally defeat all your precise adjustments. My heat shield is a sandwich of .090 aluminum with strips of header wrap in between the two plates. Very effective at keeping the header heat from the carbs.

I had a problem with having the passenger door on my Frontier p/u slamming. Finally told the wife, 'I'll shut the door; just go in the house.'

New Oil Pump?
Also, make sure your oil pressure sending unit is good. These were notorious for incorrect info at the dash. Check it out; so you don't think your new pump is broken.

My right rear drum is stuck (a.k.a. I hate drum brakes)
I used a large size, 3 jaw gear puller. Put the jaws around the drum and cranked on it. Got it as tight as I could, and left it sit. Went back about every 10-15 min. and tightened a bit more. Went on to other tasks when, POW, I thought my car blew up. It was the drum releasing from the hub and shoes. Might be worth a try.

Georgia Enters The 21st Century
I spent 6 mos. in Warner-Robins in the late 90's and remember that no alcohol on Sunday thing. I took two coworkers to Applebees for Mothers Day since they could not be with their families. Imagine a brunch with no mimosas for the ladies. I bet the bass fishing guys are happy.

Can anyone I.D. this hose?
Thanks for your reply. I wasn't even thinking vent lines, just underhood. I'll do some further research.

Can anyone I.D. this hose?
I have this brand new braided hose, that was to be used in a 78 280, that I would like to sell, but, as a 240 guy, I have no clue what it's used for. The long, sort of straight section is 14" long, while the curvy section is also approx. 14" long.

So if You Found a Wallet?
Reminds me of a wallet I once found. I was walking with my (very) young son to the park, and found a wallet. Wanting to teach him the value of honesty, we looked thru it for some ID. Got home and checked the phone book, (pre-internet) and called the number at the address. Seems a young lady lost it, and would appreciate its return. I drove to her home, turned the wallet over to her father; and he said she would be in touch. She came to my house a short time later, thanked my wife profusely, as I was not at home, and asked if she could buy me a bottle of scotch for my trouble. My loving wife said, No, he doesn't drink scotch. Never told her my booze of choice was bourbon. So much for honesty.
