  1. I'm jealous - we have another two months to go up here. Looks great all the same.
  2. I have to say the idea of a car without personal alterations really appeals to me, so I understand where the prices are going, BUT I could not possibly take that kind of a financial shot with out some more details on condition. I also contacted the person listing with a request for info and additional pictures. The pictures didn't show (typical trouble spot pictures) and I was uncertain about the answer to one of the questions. I asked why there was no window trim on the windshield, he told me there never was any. Perhaps somebody can pony up an insight on that comment. I wrote him a third time and told him it was impossible for me to bid with out my requests being answered - no reply. At this point I would like to see the pics anyway even if it is out of reach (for now). I can see paying 15K for a nice #2 that was drivable. How much would it cost for an equivelent modern vehicle - probably 30k or more and it wouldn't give off that Z thing.
  3. It's hard to say the condition but somebody believed it was pristeen. Last bid was 12,000 and didn't make the reserve. I would have bid but I needed to see more of the car first.
  4. This is right up the middle but true. I like the car either way - it looks good with the stripes, but it's a fine looking car with out stripes as well. The main thing is - I like the colour of the car White stripes look good, but I can see it would be nice to have a two colours car, Orange and Black apeals to me most, but I am biased.
  5. I was going to bid on this one but those latest photos kind of made me less certain of the value. Can anyone make a comment (insightful) on the rust under the lower door seal, it looks like trouble to me. I wonder how difficult it would be to remove the vinyl?
  6. I've replaced the seals on the rear hatch with some success, still not perfect. When I bought mine I spent a few nights washing her down to remove a lifetime of residue, by far the dirtyest spot, surprisingly, was the rear hatch closure area. The bottom and sides were blocked with black exhaust crap (very hard to remove) - that kind of verified for me the entry point the fumes.
  7. Chuck - Enigma is right, I'm eyeballing ebay and a couple of other sources daily. An all original in excellent condition may hit 8G - I was following a yellow series one in very good condition - it didn't break 5G. Location and timing are important as well as condition, unfortunately our emotional attachment to the vehicle does not factor into it's market value. I have bid on several and I always ask to see the same things (ignoring what you have already shown): Battery tray and adjacent innner fender, frame rails, floors inside and out, dog legs, rockers, door/hatch closures, door bottoms, spare wheel recess. I have occasionally asked to see the tags - they show specs, but it also illustrates what kind of paint job/s if any was done. Hope that helps. If I was as careful picking wives as I was with the cars...Hey. Good luck.
  8. It's all water and salt up here. To me and the few east coast Z people the I have met a solid body is the first order of business. I would rather pay 3G for shipping than 3G on body work. And as earlier mentioned, interest drops dramatically due to the fact that it is not numbers matching for the obvious reasons.
  9. Sad news - hope you get your price. Chin up - I've had the reset button pushed twice, after the dust settled I managed to get a Z - I bet you will too.
  10. I like the idea of covering the early Z years, 1969 to 1978. In this group there are alot of mods but it is still essentially the early style Z car. No offence intended toward the ZX owners.
  11. Ya - pretty weird comments, if your not intrested, why bother. I have to say that is twisted. I don't get the hood thing, but those side pipes are pretty cool.
  12. I was 18 in 1976 - got an orange (red) 71. It was the nicest car that I have ever owned, I didn't buy it to get laid - I just loved that car. Sold it for no good reason - kicking my own arse ever since. Bought the 280 - like that alot too, but it's not quite the same. Soon as I get the means to do it I'm getting another 71.
  13. New original paint = new paint original color, pretty simple. I like that car. If I lived down there I would take a look. The interior is very good except for the radio and rear carpet. Needs more pictures. #5 is nice outside, I do like original original paint best. The interior is dubious, dash cap and poorly covered seats at a glance. I'ld love to have either one.
  14. Did you guys see that Toyota 2000GT - Not hard to look at, seems familiar.
  15. Ya I started that thread, I installed HPs with stock springs - she looks a little like a mudder. I'm gonna fix it this winter. Thread covers issue. Carpet - I used spray dye - worked perfect, looks brand new, but guys tell me it won't take much sunlight befor it fades. Looks good for now and I keep it in my shed anyway. Good luck!
  16. A little freakish - don't you think.
  17. No, not the famous orator, a guy or gal trying to sell me an EFI harness or possible scam?? - I received the private message through this club. Is it acceptable to have solicitors contacting members directly trying to flog goods? The person has 0 posts. Thoughts or :paranoid:
  18. Cheezz you guys did pretty well !! I got a rotary buffer and currently my eyes are fixed on a set of 15 X 7 Rewinds (graphite) to be bought out of my Xmas overtime (I guess that counts as a Xmas present) when I get the cheque . Can't wait for spring.
  19. Tha Scarab may also be an example of a wide body, but as stated earlier it is definately aftermartket. Check this link: http://zhome.com/rnt/Scarab/Scarab1Lpub.jpg
  20. I bet she was a beauty in 72.
  21. That is one weird looking car! I don't get it.
  22. Sailor Bob replied to ryan's topic in Help Me !!
Don't know where but it sounds like a fuel line blockage. Had same trouble with a diesel boat - Idled perfect for a while, but when throttled she would fade. Good luck.
  23. I had some rough idle problems when I got my 77 - turned out to be the wires/connectors to the fuel injectors were very poor (common problem). I was able to clean the connectors and fiddle around till it ran smooth, but the solution was new connectors. They are available (aftermarket) on ebay or oem.
  24. Hi widg I just did the same with a 77 a couple of weeks ago and got 150s with one 152, the milage was 73,000 at the time. If you check the search for compression you may have some luck or google Atlantic Z in their tech tips under engine there is a detailed process for compression testing and a bunch of one liners on likely meanings of results. Good luck. SB
  25. Just looking through ebay parts for Zs and found a listing for two Zs in Chico California being sold without title as parts. Item number: 270050110124. Man, if I lived down that way I'ld have to size it up. What is the deal on sale without title? Abandoned cars? Stolen? SB
