"Rust-Free" Arizona Zs
I wonder whats involved in getting a licence? I was just talking to a guy on the ship about that today - he has a dealers licence and imports from florida -got a house down there. He offered to let me haul a car up if I would drive the Camper (he has bought a 35' camper along with a couple of other items and a trailer) back to Nfld. He'll get the ticket and pay for the beer. Anyway, I think this idea has merit.

That would be a nice trip - we wouldn't be the first ones to do it. I was born in Newmarket by the way.

Do people notice you in your classic Z on the road?
What is a 250Z? I was not a fan of the 350Z - I thought of it as a clone of some other cars on the market, "but" the more I look at them recognizing their tunability, current cashe and when I disassociate with the actual Z the more I like them. If only I could fit in a one.

Would you buy this tranny?
I bought an 82 rebuilt for $300 CDN back when that was $250 US. The one advertized has been kickin around a while - I was wondering why it was completely sprayed with grey stuff - looks like it is sprayed over dirt in some photos.

If I lived down there I'ld have my yard full.

Part TWO...What Would You Do
I was wondering where the blue paint was coming from - now it looks like there was a set of floors from a donor spotted inside the originals. I have no experience in such matters - just expressing what it appears to be. I definately would be concerned - it is a fine looking car otherwise.

Who has a 77 280z
Not a toy - the real Mckoy. 95% original - had to change shocks/springs, the front fenders have been repainted, wires, plugs, a scattered hose.... she is 100% & probably going to stay that way.

help-need a rear control arm bushing
Hey Steve I believe I have a set - I had a full kit but didn't do my outers (trouble removing one pin). Unfortunately I live in eastern Canada and I am on a ship right now, til at least the 21st. If time is not an issue I will check into it for you.

Sorry you were offended - merely pointing out the obvious. Heres a picture of my Z as requested. Now how about a picture of that tailpipe.

Question about storing
I do the other stuff as well, I was just speaking to the car cover issue. In addition with the occasional extreme cold periods, I take the battery out and store it in the basement on a piece of wood.

Question about storing
Hi Darb I live in a place where the temp drops to -20c occasionally every winter with periods of +5c in between, average -10. Just saying temp varies and I have a shed with a wooden floor. I use a douvett cover split down the sides - covers her perfectly - no trouble yet - no moisture problems. Good Luck

Another 4 speed to 5 speed swap question
The 3.9 is probably a better match according to the calculator - it would make 55 a usable speed with rpm above 2k in 5th. Going from a 3.545 to 3.9 - Is that a straight bolt on or is there a conversion kit required?
-
Another 4 speed to 5 speed swap question
I put about 150 miles on mine since the tranny change - I like it in the first four gears, but the fifth is boggy. I am finding that I need to exceed the highway speed limit to make use of it - which defeats the purpose a little (not that I never exceeded the speed limit befor). So I thought the higher input dif would make the 5 spd more practical. Sorry for thread jacking.
-
Another 4 speed to 5 speed swap question
I just did the swap for 77 and put in the 82 5 spd - 1st two gears are definately different - used the collar of the old throwout for the 4 spd setup. I am wondering about the differential change as well. Is the change to a 3.7 from 3.545 straight up?

Black Pearl
Beautiful - What would that fetch in the open market? That 260 was nice but this is something else again.

Do people notice you in your classic Z on the road?
My Z does get alot of attention, but it is extremely rare around here and people usually do not know what it is. Frequently see people pointing at it as I pass by - occasionally feels a little too conspicuious. This morning when going through a Tim Horton's (coffee shop) drive through four young maids squeezed out to the take out window and one said in sweet tone "We love your car, Is that a Porche?" I was a little disappointed but hey - they did notice. I told her it was a Datsun (no lights) and explained it was thirty years old, she replied "thats so cool" (good enough for me). That's not uncommon - many times in parking lots as well.

How often do you see 240-Z's on the road?
Up here there are only a few of Zs on the road, one 280 that I have seen twice in two years - we almost went off the road when we first saw each other, kinda like Maggie and the unibrow kid in the Simpsons. There is also one 280ZX - experienced a very freindly crossing (exuberant hand wave and big smiles) and a 300ZX (seen parked only) Also rumours of a couple of Cali 240s recently imported - haven't seen them yet. Funny how it works - I don't have to actually get a good look to recognize one - it's like a sixth sense - If I get a tiny glance I usually pick it up on it immediately.

People who try to make profit
I don't have a problem with it either. Other than the fact that I would like to have a car like this - I bid on it up to $8000 - It rots me that I can't come close to it. It still looks screwwy to me.
