  1. When I was removing the rear passenger side, control arm (transverse link) last year I removed this peice and didn't replace it because I could figure it's purpose and it looked home-made. I had found some other home remedies as well that I replaced with proper parts. Over the past year I have seen it on a couple of other 280s - so perhaps it wasn't home-made and maybe it shouldn't have been removed? Any thoughts or info? The part is the square rubber over the inner control arm hinge/bolt. This picture is an example - not a of my car.
  2. By the time I got the kids squared away the cupboard was bare, but I will be getting a new pressure plate befor the driving season starts. Here's a shot of my boy (left) and the neighbourhood kids rocking out a couple of days ago with our family gift. . I also had a reel to reel in the late seventies it was a Teac as well - I don't remember the model number, but it was the 11 inch and the sound was excellent, esp on the high speed.
  3. Thats pretty clever Steve - you still have the original gear uncut.
  4. No horror stories, but I think it would play with my head when on the highway. Are they just for appearance or a practical reason (fuel economy)?
  5. Try: http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQfrtsZ100QQsassZmassey1946 Massey's, Great source for most wheel related issues. The sales people are very helpful.
  6. Hey full house - I'ld like to see a picture of you in your new car!
  7. Concensus is always a consideration. A warning is probably due either way.
  8. I found the regular stuff: three cartridge pens, about fifty cents in change, a book of matches, broken glass (windshied) and a few dead bugs. Found a thumb wrench in the engine comp. The guy who appraised the car initially was leary about going through the car - said it was fairly common to find spiders and other weird/scarey bugs in cars from the southern states. No such luck. Poor old Lenny was not doing something... hope he's not a club member - ouch!
  9. That off centre dot reminds me of Lord of the rings - the all seeing eye. You might need to smoke a little pot to get that one.
  10. Removed from auction before sale. What up?
  11. I was thinking the same, mine is pretty good, but that looks fine. Just talking to the vender, says the undercarriage is in excellent condition - no signs of rust anywhere. Only issues are the clutch and windshield.
  12. Check this one out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320196630474
  13. The Orange peel - sounds like a theme - could be onto something. Will - when you say "we" it almost sounds as if you would need to judge the photos to know which it is.
  14. I painted mine black - but they had a hint of black on them from befor.
  15. I checked the Canadian Silver Wheels thing and dropped the idea due to all the limitations on usage. I use the car alot - almost 8000 miles in two years (thats from May to October), so I didn't fit the "classic user profile". If you have that type of insurance and don't live by the rules of the policy - technically you are not insured. It is cheap but if it is not practical what is the point?
  16. I recently met a beautiful Italian peeler - got me thinkin about some ..... exotic photography. Too much?
  17. Saw one last week in Rochester for $769 - complete, not running, only floor pans gone - original paint, still had original hubcaps. By the time I got around to bidding - 2 hours later - it was sold. There are good deals left out there. Be patient, keep looking.
  18. Yup the pics don't say enough and whats the asking $
  19. Not since it went in the shed for the winter.
  20. Adjust your idle screw.
  21. You know, that bugs me. I may change it again - I wonder can you just buy the pressure plate.
  22. According to that, OEM does not always mean OEM.
  23. I just replaced the clutch and installed a new slave - I was suprised at the difference in pedel resistance. With the new system there is very little. I liked it better the other way.
  24. Might be stowed in front of the truck (it's on rollers).
