Steering wheel repairs for cracks
Maybe grinding material from another wheel with an epoxy of some sort. Dr. 240z used a 2 part clear epoxy that is used on bar tables (looks like a layer of glass) to finish his wheel.

New Strut Inserts - Fill The Strut Tube With Oil?
It's in the fsm so it can't be that bad. I also gobbed lots of grease on the top to hold back any oil and to prevent corrosion.

Progress on rust repairs
You would have had these same snags if you had refreshed all connections, I had the same issues with temp sensor, tach and turn signal switch. Murphy lives

the winter from hell
4" of powder last night. I'm on vacation this week with the flu. It was fun shovelling my wife's car this AM. At least it was the kind of snow you can push easily.

Steering Rack Disassembly and Refurb
I would have guessed Fiero because it's you but since it is an import I'll guess Subaru because some swap in Subie PS racks.

Did any of the domestic sedans in Japan have PS in 69-78? I think some of the s30's front suspension is from a previous sedan.

- Anyone here near San Luis Obispo, Calif?
WOW SLO is a great place. Friendly people, bike lanes, lots of cool cars and enjoyed driving around some of the twisty roads. The hills, clear air and temperature are so nice. Sadly I was doing 10-18hr days of work so not much time to take in the fun stuff. I hope to return. Saw one well worn black 510 on the Foothill road every day.- Major screw up
For precision during the welding: The manifold should be used as a jig when welding. Thread the bolts into the manifold and adjust to the same height then place the nuts on a long threaded rod. Sit this on the bolts and adjust so that the nut-to-bolt is the same ..... then weld.- Major screw up
Here is a weird idea that may work. Precisely weld a nut to the top of a bolt. (both Axis are 90 degrees to each other). The bolt would screw into the manifold to adjust the height. The nut on the top of the bolt would accept your existing heim joint for adjusting the main rod's location towards and away from the motor. You can weld fillets to the nut then grind for strength and beauty. This is inexpensive and lets you adjust up/down and in/out to get the rod aligned with the firewall end- Vacuum advance on triples
They used manifold vacuum in the experiment. Ported will work better for efficiency. Do't worry, keep reading and you'll understand advancing. It takes a bit of head scratching at first. - Anyone here near San Luis Obispo, Calif?
