I use software called curve expert for analysing data and generating formulas and tables to represent it accurately. Works nicely for "applied" theory. A geeky example at the bottom of this old page: http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tempsensor/index.html

  6. Looks like a profitable item to reproduce.
  7. $3k in Japan: ???????????? S30Z ?? ????? ?? ???? - ????!
  8. The big cluster that holds the jets... it looks like a tower of aluminum.
  9. I found out what that screw in the bottom does! It holds the central jet holder assembly into the carb body. there are O rings in this unit that would probably dissolve with carb cleaner. I noticed the part had separated while bathing in methal hydrate as you recommended. Thanks again Chris!
  10. I did not want to break (pun) this news. Check the other side to see if it is the same order. The flat side of the bushing goes in the cup on the frame.
  11. If the metal washer was against the body then that may have caused it to break.
  12. :bulb: I restored a series 1 and used Duplicolor Wheel Paint "Graphite" HPW-102 for the 3 finisher plates that surround the tail lights and license plate. The paint has a metallic flake but seems to have the right tint. It is also easy to get and tough as it is for wheels. You can polish the stainless steel trim that seems crimped to the finisher for a nice shine.

Family accepts Coke's apology for bottle cap that read 'You Retard' | CTV News I bet there is a: You (en) phoque (fr) out there somewhere.
  14. UPDATE: Thanks Chris! I used a DENTAL TOOL-like instrument to pluck out the rubber ring (as you expertly guessed). Some liquid wrench and a healthy hammer via a punch loosed up the remnants of that progression hole screw-cap. Did it on my lunch break. I have now completely disassembled the 3 carbs. The only casualty is the loss of one of the secondary small springs in the adjacent arm of the pump rod. I am not sure if it was there in the first place. I like the 50 DCO style throttle valve return spring. Getting the aux venturi and venturi out was challenging for 4 of the 6 throats (2 came out with finger pulls, the other 4 needed taps on the aux venturi cross brace to drive out like a wheel bearing race from a hub. Some corrosion seems to be the cause. I'll lube when I rebuild. I also have a question about the big screw at the bottom of the fuel area (you have to remove the bottom plate to see it)? Is it a stop for the main jets? The quality and precision of the metal work is much better than the DCOE's I have worked on.
  15. Wow that is crazy!!! Make sure the seat belts are bolted all the way in! Who knows what the PO or their mechanic has done!!!!
  16. Just ordered some parts from Japan: - 6mm insulating spacers - 3 rebuild kits - part #60 Took the carbs apart.... starting to clean. Yeah.
  17. I'm trying to help my dad with his herd of Mazda B2200 trucks. I picked up a DGV and wish to make a simple workhorse that has just a carb and a self contained ignition system (battery, key, coil, distributor, igniter) like one can do with the ZX distributor swap. The early B2000's (pre-84) seem to have this possibility but post 84, the B2000's 2200's and 2600's get progressively more complex. There is a late 80's period where the ignition looks like this: The question I have is: Does the igniter in the distributor sink the coil -neg to gnd via the distributor body (not shown) or does the engine-speed-control-switch act as the ignition module and sink the coil -neg to gnd? Thanks
  18. Solar Powered Stirling Engines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia btw the $20 coffee maker in the ad in the first link (Palm Beach Post Aug 1970) is now ~$40..... Can you imagine if gas, food, and cars only doubled in price since then?
  19. I paid 300 for 280z ones from Japan.... that may be a lower limit. Those restoring a non-north american car will be your best market.
  20. Maybe some oil-pan sealant at the bottom of the tube is all that is required to stop weeping through the margins.
  21. Nissan should release a 50th anniversary SP311 1600 Roadster in 2015 now that they have the Datsun name out there. A 50th 510 in 2018 and a 50th Z in 2020 could follow.
