You'll have to raise the engine off the motor mounts in order to get the oil pan off. I don't know if you'll be able to get the crank out from the bottom without jacking the block real high. Also, there is probably a good chance to bang up the crank trying it this way. Of couse if you are just selling parts you probably don't care much if it gets screwed up.

Then there was the one about the man driving his car down the street in a heavy rainstorm. While travelling within the speed limit he approaches an intersection and sees a Police car on the cross street waiting for the signal to change. As he passes the officer he flips him the finger and accelerates away rapidly, obviously violating the speed limit. The police officer hangs a right turn and chases after the speeding motorist who continues to speed and ignores the officer for about 2 miles. Finally the speeder pulls over to the side of the road and waits for the officer to approach. When the exaspirated officer gets to the motorist's door he see that car window is still rolled up and the speeder is thumbing through a magazine. The officer starts knocking on the door glass while the rain continues to pour down on him. The officer raps on the glass, standing in the rain storm, for at least 5 minutes while the speeder continues to ignore him. Finally the speeder calmly rolls down the window. By this time the drenched officer is fuming and virtually shouts to the speeder, "Son, Do you have any idea why I pulled you over?!" The motorist calmly faces the officer with a big smile on his face says, "Officer, do you have any idea why I was speeding?" "Do-Nuts for Everyone"

I have not done this change of Master Cylinders so i cannot speak from experience, but I don't recall anyone having a problem with the servo-rod length when doing this swap. If there is a difference in the rod length it will make a difference in how the M/C is actuated by the Master Vac ( brake servo). Only problem I have heard of is the need to make sure the larger Reservoir and that part of the M/C still serves the Front brakes Maybe someone else can advise and we'll both learn a bit more. As for the changes to the system that would preclude doing the swap, I haven't heard of any, and more than a few folks have done the change due to the extreme expense of the early M/C.

Respectfully submit to you..........If all he wants for a 280Z is $400, there is far more "wrong" with it than a cracked head. Otherwise he'd be either fixing it himself (since he owns a shop) or he'd be selling it for more money. If you really want this to be a good Z, you'll likely pour TONS of MONEY, sweat and tears down this drain. In CA $400 usually buys you a "Parts" car (and a wizz poor one at that). Before you spend money on this car, take some good close-up digital pictures of the car and post them on the site. We have a "Z Police" squad that will look them over and critique the car for you.
