  1. Amen! It is where it is because the designers wanted it there. Nuff said! (anyway, this nit has been picked to DEATH!)
  2. General calls for help are best directed to the Police or the Fire Department. You might want to explain yourself a bit.
  3. Emergency Brake cables and support hanger springs (under car in rear near axles); or loose sway bar link mounts (rotted bushings)
  4. Tom: "Like Wow."
  5. Sorry, If you have some EL on your car..............it's too late, you've already gone rice (or pimp).
  6. You might want to ask our member "Phred" about whether OEM springs are good enough for the cam lift that you now have. He builds engines for a living and knows L6 engines very well.
  7. Unless you bought a K&N filter made to fit in your stock Air Cleaner, you are going to have to remove the entire aircleaner assembly including the baseplate (air horns). If you run SU's without Air horns, you will lose power. You can buy air horns to bolt onto the carbs.
  8. Covers are about $175 for a pair (cover 2 seats). Foam cushions are about $85 for one set (covers one seat).
  9. No Sewing. They just slide on. You may need to rebuild the foam cushion before installing the covers. Instructions on HOW TO INSTALL came with the last set I bought. (it was a long time ago, though)
  10. I think I'd consider Permatex #2 sealant. It is not supposed to be affected by fuel or oil. Maybe test a bit of it on a piece of metal and soak it in oil. Normal Silicone sealant would probably be my LAST choice
  11. Section 113 of Z Car Microfiche which details the Carpet and mats underneath does not show them.
  12. Not sure why your search didn't bring up any info as this subject has been discussed every fall season for a few years at least. Here's two thread that I found for you http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4006&highlight=Storage http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4047&highlight=Storage
  13. I've never seen clips like that for holding down mats. I'd hate to see the condition of the floorpans considering how much rust is on those clips.
  14. Or he could give the wheels to me, and buy another set that fit better. Ya, I like that idea!
  15. Dave: which wrecker? last time I was out there there were several yards.
  16. If you are in need of a complete wiring harness for your 240Z, your best bet currently is to contact one of the Z Specialist Salvage yards for what you need. Z Specialites in Snohomish, Wa. Danny's Datsuns in Roseburg, OR Z Parts in Richmond, CA CyberSanford in Michigan Z Car Source of AZ in Phoenix, AZ Z Barn in Maryville, TN
  17. Hi Ben: The calipers were not colored red from the factory, but "Sumitomo" is cast into the calipers on OEM units. I believe from my recollection of looking at your calipers that they are stock 240/260Z. 1mm gap between wheel and caliper sounds awfully close, but I don't know if it is a problem or not. Hopefully someone else can advise you.
  18. I like the quote inyour signature line. I wonder how many people "don't get it". (notice what I found interesting about the post)
  19. STD is for use on an engine where the crankshaft bearing surfaces DO NOT require machine work to remove grooves or other distortion. 0.25mm (0.010") is for use on an engine where the crankshaft bearing surfaces HAVE BEEN machined 0.25mm smaller in diameter than normal (stock) Until you know the condition of your crankshaft (examined and measured by a knowledgable automotive machine shop) it is impossible to know which bearings you should purchase to properly rebuild your engine.

  21. Andrew: Thanks for the picture. I was thinking that I had to get into the far end of the stalk to access the washer switch contacts. Guess I should have looked at my spare parts or taken the stalk off and played with it. I will clean up the contacts and apply "DeoxiT 100" to them to keep them from getting fouled again. Thank you. Carl
  22. Welcome. Not necessarily. Too many variables to make a blanket statement. A 240Z can be made to be faster, but it takes $$$. If one puts $$$ in the right area's, a 280Z can be made faster. Comparing 100% stock vs 100% stock and in similar condition it would be a close race. What I meant was the operation of the locks is different between 240Z and 280Z. But anyway, your locks don't seem to be working quite normally. Sorry, I can't advise on how to fix them.
