  1. The attached image is a picture of a page in the Nissan TSB introducing the 1972 model 240Z (w/ "B" trans, recline seats, etc) as you can see, by this time Nissan had dropped the "cutsie" color names and simply referred to the colors by generic color names and numbers.
  2. If it is just the shell, with no bits attached (buyer has to source "everything/anything that attaches to the shell") I'd say its only worth a couple of hundred dollars (US). You can buy parts cars that aren't in too bad of shape here for $500 and they have an engine, trans, diff, and many, many other usable parts. JMO
  3. It doesn't have to be "breakneck speeds". It's a combination of the speed of the car and the radius of the turn, Front to Rear weight ratio of the car, grip level of the tires, etc. A car car understeer at relatively low speeds, or medium speeds, even at higher speeds. (PS I've editted my post since you saw it) If your road wheels aren't changing position (i.e. are NOT "just straightening out a lot") but the arc of the turn becomes wider, it's understeer. Oh ya, I've always called it the Steering Coupler. Not sure if that is the proper term or not, but I'd never heard of a rag joint before tonight
  4. you've got to be kidding, the main instrument cluster in that dash you provided a link of JUTS out from the rest of the dash (rounded as the rest of the dash is) A dash in a 240Z is all smooth flowing lines, everything is rounded and flowing. We had stereo's in the 60"s, 50's and even earlier, friend. A Ghetto Blaster Boom Box is a variation of a stereo. Install one of these bad boys in a car. It can be done, but IMO shouldn't. As others have said, it's your car and you only have to please yourself, but Pride, Performance, and Preservation have nothing to do with the modifications that you seem to desire, so expect a little differing opinion when you post about things like this. Some of us see things differently than you do.
  5. Are you SURE that the "wheels just straighten out a lot" or is it that the car just doesn't continue to turn at the same constant radius even though the wheels are still turned, and you have to turn more and more to maintain the same arc of the turn? If you are going around the turns faster than the speed limit and this happens, I'd say it's called UNDERSTEER. and it's completely normal. UNDERSTEER beats the hell out of OVERSTEER (unless you are a really good driver). The only wy I see this as a problem is if you are not going around the turns real fast, as in driving below the speed limit. PS: What is a "rag joint"?
  6. PatricK: I'd consider the BRE spook, but I'd be more inclined to buy one from Classic Datsun rather than this one on eBay. I think you'd get a better quality part. It could always be removed later without much effort if you wished to do so. Good Luck
  7. Hey, you could replace the stock radio with a Ghetto Blaster Boom Box too. There is no accounting for taste. Just because something can be done, doesn't mean it should be done. But like the man said, it's your car. Go for it.
  8. "oxy-acetylene"
  9. Actually Chris was referring to composite Headlight lens/housings. (see his link) http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=23781&langId=-1 "Polycarbonate lens provides up to 30 times greater impact resistance than glass"
  10. Tranny jack is definitely the way to go if you don't have a header to get in the way. I am surprised that Michael had such bad luck in finding on in Dallas. All of the General Equipment Rental yards around my town have them. Usually each yard has several. Last time i got one I paid $15 for 4 hours. I only needed it for an hour, but it was well worth the expense. I'm too old to be mucking about with that trans on my chest. BTDT, too many times when I was younger. ENOUGH! If you don't have an impact gun, you can take an allen wrench and slide it into one of the holes in the block that the trans bolts go into, turn the short end of the allen so that it engages the ring gear teeth of the flywheel. This will lock the flywheel in place preventing it from rotating. Then you just use your normal 1/2 breaker bar to loosen the bolts. Alternatively, you can secure a chain to the pressure plate mounts on the flywheel, then attach the other end of the chain to one of the trans mount bolts, threaded into the block.
  11. Why not just buy a TOAD, and pass the S30 on to someone who will appreciate it for what it is?
  12. Have a friend there with you to help. It can be done by one person, but having another person there makes it easier IMO (not to mention safer).
  13. Thanks for the clarification, Chris.
  14. *****Pictures must be no larger that 1024 X 768 pixels. Also, the smaller the file size, the quicker they will upload and the quicker they will load when people try to view them. Files larger than about 400kb take a good bit of time to load for people with dial up modem connections to the internet. You might want to keep that in mind as a consideration to fellow members. You must be Logged In. Start from Home Page. Look on left for a section called "Main Menu". Click on "Photo Gallery" link in that section. Look near the top of the Gallery page on the RIGHT side. You should see links called "Home" and "Search" and "Profile" and "Upload Photos" Click on "Upload Photos" On Upload Page, you first "Choose a Catogory" that you want the photos to be located in. Over on the right there is a "menu" to select from. Click on the little arrow and the menu appears and select the one you want. Next Click on the first "BROWSE" button. A little window will open showing the files on your computer. Find the picture that you want to upload and DOUBLE CLICK on the FILE NAME OR THUMBNAIL (however you have your computer set up). Click on the next "BROWSE" button to select more photos that you might want to upload. Repeat as necessary. When you have selected all the pictures you want to upload, scroll down the page a bit and CLICK on the "UPLOAD/SUBMIT" button. It will take some time to upload the pictures. Could be several minutes or more depending on the quantity/size of photos and the speed of your internet connection. The next page that appears gives you a chance to select an (optional) second or third gallery catagory for the picture(s) to be located. You can also create a Title, a Description, and Key Words to be connected to each of your pictures. When you are done, CLICK "PROCESS" You are done. All pictures must be approved by a Moderator. Typically that happens within 24 hours. When the picture is approved, it appears in the gallery catagories tha you selected. NOTE: the pic will appear on the Home Page under "Latest Gallery Uploads" BEFORE it has been approved and is viewable in the Gallery, so be patient.
  15. Your Heater Core, or Heater Hoses, or the Control Valve is leaking anti-freeze. You are going to need to get up under there and look for the source. Look for wet spots, it isn't rocket science.
  16. FRP sugar scoops? ....or the "bucket" that the headlight and aiming adjustment assembly all sit in (what you access from inside the wheelwell to replace headlights)?
  17. No, however there is a "far side of the moon", but you'll never see it from earth. And YES it would be light on the far side of the moon when we experience a "new moon". From Earth, you can only see one side of the Moon. This side is termed the near side of the Moon. Is it thought that long ago when the Moon was still in formation, the Earth's gravity slowed the Moon's spin. The Moon now rotates once as it orbits the Earth, allowing for the same side to always face the Earth so that the far side remains a mystery to any Earth-bound observer. Many people speculated that there were strange mysteries on the far side of the Moon (black monoliths maybe?). In 1959, Russia's spacecraft Luna 3 left the Earth and headed to the Moon. It returned the first picture of the far side. Then in 1968 on Christmas eve, three men, Borman, Lovell, and Anders saw the far side of the moon with their own eyes as their Apollo 8 spacecraft circumnavigated the Moon. Anders was a bit disappointed with what he saw that Christmas eve. His description of the far side of the Moon was that it was the color of dirty beach sand and that the landscape was of unrelenting sameness - crater upon crater, hill upon battered hill. PS "Dark Side of the Moon" is a classic Pink Floyd album.
  18. In some neighborhoods a baby rabbit is.......................DINNER! Right Bill?
  19. Like Victor, I use a Pipe wrench, or at least I did in the past. In going through my fathers tools I found a large Crescent Wrench (Adjustable Spanner) that will fit that nut, so I'll give it a try next time I need to do this job.
  20. OK. Wouldn't it have been cheaper in the long run to just install hardened valve seats rather than pay for lead substitute additive at every fill up for 20 years?
  21. Fibeglass air dams are no problem, just learn to look where you are driving and parking and remember that you have an air dam to take care of. A Z is fairly short so there's no reason to run up all the way to the curb in a parking space. If you have a steep entry to a driveway, always drive in at an angle, not straight in.
  22. What are 9007 bulbs? What wattage are they? How do they relate to "HID look alikes"? I'm confused. Also, what is meant by "composite housings"? This is all new to me.
  23. Thanks Chris. I was using the spelling that was provided. No wonder I couldn't find anything useful.
  24. Current VB Catalog lists them for $19.95 and indicates 2 needed for FRONT and 2 needed for REAR. IMO that means the price is for EACH unit. Thus 4 @ $19.95ea is what you need. For a 240Z the P/N is #62-927 Also, I'd bet that you'll have to modify the existing OEM bumpstops or remove them to use these, since they have a bumpstop built in to the top of the boot.
  25. In that case it's not the "bronze" that is causing the wear, it's the transferred steel. What is babit? I tried a Google search and couldn't find anything in the first 4 pages of results.
