First of all, if this has been posted, I apologize, I ran a search on Blue Lake and found little. That being said, who plans on attending the Blue Lake show a week from Sunday? The show is on the 8th of June. I think it would be great to form a "convoy" (for lack of a better word, sorry truckers...) en route to the show. I looked at some pics of the show two years ago and the Z-car section was sparse at best. Anyone who is attending the show, please respond, and I'm not talking entering your car in the show, I'm talking attending. Hey entering is cool too, I just do not want to exclude people who are not planning on doing more than wondering around and not entering their car. I personally have not decided weather I will or not, regardless, I plan on attending. I would ask for a show of hands, but, that most likely will not work. Once we figure out who all is making the journey, we could maybe work on a site to caravan as a group?? Thanks for any input! Have a great Day! Brian

Yea, no presidents or anything like that, just a bunch of guys and gals, families, whatever that share a common virus (AcuteaZaphobia) that can congregate to exchage ideas, help and show off their "in works" or completed projects, have a few beers and get away from the everyday stresses that we have no choice but to expose ourselves to... Plus it would be great to see everyone wondering what is wrong with all of us!! The two way radios is a great idea and it was mentioned that behavior is a plus, out here we have a huge McMenamins (the Grand lodge) with a huge parking area, a while back I saw about 75 mini-ccopers and it was impressive.... Would have been better as Z cars tho. It doesn't have to be in my back yard, I'll drive wherever, hell, that's half the fun of owning a Z - driving!! Thanks for the input, I would love to see this happen, like I said, nothing to "offical" just a bunch of Z nutz in a common area with a common goal.... Brian

So I was recently in Bend, where I discovered the Bend Area Datsun Association. Also know as B.A.D arse. Gotta admit, great name for the association. Met up with '73orv, he has a very nice '73 that just did great in the pro-solo comp. ANYWAY, it made me think that we in the pacific northwest need to get together more often that we do... These guys meet the fourth Thursday of every month and have quite the group. This made me salivate for a meeting of the Z minds here locally, it was very cool to see all the z's and datsuns in geneeral lined up with the public wandering around like they were in a Z twilight zone. I'm not suggesting that we meet every Thursday or whatever but can someone nominate a place that we can all meet up? Like Blue Lake or even a centrally located Izzy's or whatever.... I'm just looking for ideas....Anyone have any suggestions? I think that it would be great to meet the faces associated with the screen names that we all know and love here in the pacific northwest... If something is allready set up let me know, I'm now trying to re-invent the wheel here, I just want to see a shi*load of Z's in one spot!!!!!! Hey Bruce, Sorry for not looking at your previous post, I have been out of town for a bit..... I am running Trips on my '74. LOVE 'EM! I can't quite remember the needle size that I am currently running, I have the head getting redone and need to throw the engine back together, I have torn these carbs down to basically nothing and reassembled them... I will look this weekend and check the sizes, I need to get the setup ready anyway, you are always welcome to call me at home with any questions, just let me know if you want to number... The local guys here at Z-Therapy know quite a bit about the triple Mik's, they run them on on of the race carz. Let me know if I can help out.... Brian

I just posted a thread on this car getting 27 - 28 mpg, but it had SU's and I have no idea on needles / seats or anything... To get to your question, my '74 has the triples, I LOVE THEM!! Once they are tuned, they stay tuned. I have torn the trip Mik's down to basicall nothing to see how they operated and that was with no manual... Daring / stupid I know, but now I know...:classic: It's really easy to change the jetting on the Mik's, I have NEVER had a problem with them other than Chevron Super that was 30% water. That %$^&ed everything up. On the mileage issue, I have no idea, I was allways into the throttle and in launch mode.... That car has been under the knife redoing the head since the cam gear slipped. OUCH:dead: If I ever figure it out tho I'll let you know... Brian

I think that you are right on the money, I have no free play on the fork, so I'm gonna leave it alone. The power that this motor presents is a bunch and it will slip the clutch on a first gear hard hit. (not that I do it that often, after all I'm not 16 anymore. And, sorry to any 16 year olds. Well like I said, made a trip to Bend, Or. About 300 miles from where I live.... Just gotta say, 27 MPG and was at 70 - 80 mph most of the trip. And then to get pulled over today from no front plate.. Long live the Z!!!! Stylish. Fun. Agressive. Great mpg. How does everyone else do? (mpg that is...) Have a great one!! Thanks Carl, It needed to be bled, I did and all is better, I will look for the leak and watch the level for sure... I love it when this happens so far from home... So then, on the adjustment, I will check my Clymer guide, but is it at the slave clyinder for the throw then???? My pedal height is right on the $ at 8". Hmmmmmm. Must ponder this. Well here I am in Bend, OR. Approx 300 miles from home working with a friend... And Thursday I went to jump into the '71 and cruise to his place and the car wouldn't go into gear...Grind city like the clutch was not even pressed in... I looked at the master cylinder and it was low almost out...It could have sucked some air into the system. I added some fluid and pumped it up and it was better...But, if I'm at a light sometimes I need to pump the clutch several times in order for it to go into gear... I will try bleeding the system today but was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions? The clutch is self adjusting for the most part right? I know that pedal height has something to do with it but have not looked into it that far... Thanks and have a great Sunday! Brian

Thanks Carl, I have swiched everything over, the funny thing is, I hear just a slight hiss of air towards the end of the pedal throw... The pedal is still going to the floor, granted that I have not bled the brakes yet but the air noise is still bugging me. I was told that there is a valve that releases the air pressure from the chamber when it gets to a certain pressure... I have never heard of this... Anyway, the car seems to stop better, rear seems operational... And this is before the bleeding, so hopefully the pedal will improve with the bleed... Brian

Ok, I have a trip coming up to Bend, Or. The master cylinder in my '71 is only operating the front brakes at this point.... At the bleeders on the master cylinder there is just no pressure to the back brakes, but plenty to the front. I have my '73 car, but the master cylinder is different, the resivors are reversed. Dose anyone know if I can switch the master cylinders over if I switch the plumbing as well? The '73 car has great braking... Thanks for the help, I can get a master cylinder for $48. It's just $ are tight and I'm weighing all my options before I part with the $$$. Hello all, Can someone tell me if the strut housings are the same in the '71 and the '75ish? I have a trip coming up, got the car aligned and they tell me that the front passenger strut is tweaked 2 degrees. It's no suprise, them previous owner said that he smacked a curb on that side... They look the same but figured I'd ask to make sure before I tear into it, I have to leave on Sunday... Thanks all, have a great day! Brian

NEVER accept any of the blame if the accident is not at all your fault. The reason that I say this is because of future insurance costs the accident will count against YOU also. It does not matter to the companies that make your rate weather the accident was 1% or 100% your fault, as long as there is a percentage attached to "your" side of it, your insurance has the right to assume that you are considered a "risk" and WILL charge you accordingly. In the future when you are renewing insurance, you will want to say the accident was 100% paid by the other company. And they will ask you if they paid 100% when the time comes. There is NO WAY I would agree to anything except 100% payment from his insurance to cover my arse in the future. Good luck, keep us posted..... Brian

That is the age old trick by the insurance companies... Tell them the more they drag this out the more your back hurts! But, be prepared to buy the car back, you are headed towards totalledville. I just wentr thru this with my '73, I was able to buy the car back for $105. Hell the hood alone was worth more than that! I went onto classiccartrader.com and did a nationwide search and handed the 7 page document to the adjustor and told him to have fun. If you have the car, clean it up, but do not make it spottless or they get "suspicous" and drag it out. Threaten them with a lawyer if they try to blame you for 20%, try to find witnesses. The sad part is, they are doing their job by trying to get you to admit 20% fault, don't stand for it! And remember the back thing, it's insurance companies that bring this kind of crap onto themselves. Good luck, if needed we will send the Z mafia after 'em! :dead: Bri

Can anyone tell me if they have installed a strut bar and if the improvement was noticeable? I am considering this with my '71. It seems that you could almost make a set yourself. I have not looked into the benefits and was looking for some "hands-on" experience.... Thanks, Brian

If the cord has been previously hooked into a 220 outlet, the guage should be fine. After hooking it up, give it a bit a feel the wires for heat. In the event that you reverse the wires, which I have done, it will throw the breaker and you will need to try again. What I did was leave the outlet breaker in the off position, plug it in and go back over to the box and give 'er power. That way I'm not right next to the plug... I agree with both of you tho, a wiring book is good advice, but so is learning for yourself. Common sense applies in all of it. Good luck Ed, just leave the Z to me in the will. Just kiddingROFL B
