building a 3.0L plus...
Build whatever is in your budget and you think you'll be happy with. Maybe just maybe for now the wisest option is to build it to stock specs and then have it running nicely so you can save some money and build the stroker later. Or if you think you can get away with it just keep driving it and save money and rebuild the thing in 1 go.

cheap triks for 280zx
I know nothing about the MSD ignition modules you guys in the US always refer to. Maybe someone else could help you better with that question?

Ripped off?
Mike no offence but Anit Leech code is only gonna stop the naive computer user. If it can be viewed it can be saved. It becomes a bit harder if it's encoded inside something like a flash file or director file etc. I know that Adobe Photoshop has a option to mark your image as copyright but i haven't played with it myself. However i understand the point you are making

cheap triks for 280zx
The best coil is the Bosch type. The big blue ones you'll see them on the older V8 Mercedes. They have lots of fluid which keeps them cool and they last forever. I'm gonna get 1 once i've finished my motor.

can you spot the "mistake"???
On a serious note the head light buckets could have been replaced as the pin strike does not continue all the way to them. I know on my 73 they continued to the buckets but i am not sure if these are a factory item and if they all go to the same place. Yellow indicators? It is an American car right? I was under the impression your turn signals were red. 2 toe hooks? Clock doesn't work. Dash matt is disgusting "especially with the factory Chapman independent rear suspension" Umm McPherson maybe? Yes i have been a little silly i guess im just in that mode

Wheel Decision
Hey Ben sorry for the late reply. I have seen that Japanese ZG before and as beautiful as the car is I hate the wheels. I know they are period suited and were popular at the time and maybe even now but I much prefer the car when he put Watanabe's on it. Really improved the car entirely. He has a friend with what appears to be a real KPGC10 GTR they pics are somewhere on his site. I browsed it for ages a year or so ago .

Ripped off?
Well as a general rule the pics I post in my gallery that are of cars I do not own i post in my general gallery while pics of my car or VicZcar events go into there own folder. If anyone ever says nice comments about a car in my gallery and I don't own it. I inform them i'm not the owner and try to point them towards the owner of the car. That way I don't take the credit for anyones hard work

building a 3.0L plus...
Dreco depends greatly on how your car is set up. Depending on how your ignition is mapped and what your camshaft profile will allow it to rev to. Then if your running SU's they will top out at 7000rpm. With tripples they can breathe higher up. However just cause you can rev to that doesn't mean you should check what bottom end preparation has been done and what valve springs etc.. It's one of those things that just depends

Is it just me?

Ripped off?
I agree completely TexasZ I do the same thing all the time. If Tod Kaneko happened to stumble across my site and ask me if I could remove his car from the banner then I would discuss it with him and do what i felt was best. I'm by no means trying to make profit on it just get fellow Z members together and have fun. However I do feel credit is important as you say

Is it just me?
yeah i'd seen it recommended but i was sure MIke had put it in now I can't find it?

building a 3.0L plus...
If you can't afford to do the bottom end properly focus on the top end for now. Since your compression is stuffed I'd say it's the rings for sure but you never know could be a bent valve or something. That's what I'm doing anyway. I have an ok running motor in my Z at the moment but I know it's getting tired. I'm building up a P90 F54 combo, Port work, Cam, Flat tops, diesel crank and overbore. Doing piece by piece as i can afford it on the side and the benefit is I still have a running car. Do it once and do it properly i think. I'm still thinking if I should rebuild the gbox and carbs while it's out. Then I'll have all new running gear except for the diff in my Z. It would be a huge difference that's for sure. Remember all this extra power your gonna need a better clutch see how that budget blows out of proportion? BTW diff ratios make a big difference.

Is it just me or can we still not access the members gallery from a forum thread? I thought Mike implemented this function has it since been removed? I really miss this feature

Ripped off?
I have used Tod Kaneko's 240z to promote www.VicZcar.com if i knew how to contact him I would ask his permission but I don't know how to? I also don't see the harm because I'm not using it to make a profit just promote Z cars. However I have thought about changing it to a members Z car which i would do but on a poor uni student budget can't finance a good enough digital camera to take a good enough photo. Catch 22 till I get a proper camera anyway. What do you guys think?

my first Z-
haha I had a 2+2 there ok but not the same magic by any stretch of the imagination if you ask me. A turbo one would be nice and fast. Fond memories of old cars? I certainly do have them even if it gave me grief so what happened did you sell it? FWIW i wouldn't use the toyota 4Spot calipers I bought a set and found out how heavy they are. Dreadfull stuff I'm going with Z32 brakes now so much lighter even if you have to make custom brackets to fit them it's worth it in my book.

KGC10-R Pics
Hey Jim just wanted to say nice car. I was lucky enough to see this car in person in Melbourne when it was up for auction. I noticed the back of it had a GTR badge on it which fooled a guy I was with at the time. But I noticed the P in KPGC10 missing in the description and realised it was "a copy" which i agree is a much better proposition and probably what I'd go for. I am interested in what you think the motor is producing? I'm building most likely a very similar motor at the moment for my 240z and have experience how quick the same motor is on just dual SU's and let me tell you I was impressed so much so I couldn't stop laughing afterwards at how ridiculously quick it was for an L28 powered Z.

VicZcar Authurs Seat Lookout View
Yeah the other 2 went straight down the mountain . I think they were pretty hungry we didn't have lunch till about 5-6 in the afternoon . Still a good photo the camera isn't the best made it look more overcast but the view was awesome the photo just doesn't do it any justice. -Gav

Welded Cam Lobe
Yeah 1 of my options with my camshaft was to go this way but we decided that it would be better to get 1 made up instead. So that's what I've done and it wasn't that expensive aswell which was great.

Authurs Seat View Vic Z Car Meet 4
Thanks Gee yeah it's coming along well. This was the best drive and turnout yet. We were still expecting more to show but they didn't for some reason 1 guy met us at Authurs seat and he didn't even drive his Z just wanted to be part of it.(His Z was in the workshop) I'm hoping to attract more and more numbers as we go. There are still alot of Z's in Victoria that either don't know about the club or just arnt interested.
