Fairlady Z stroker
Well maybe I shouldn't say correct you all :classic: . However it's the second 240z I've seen with a later Dash and went huh??? Also Alpha I might hang onto that 240k gearbox my Z one has been feeling a bit rough I'm gonna fill it with more oil to see if it's just low on oil I suspect it's leaking from the rear seal. If that solves the problem I will look into selling it. I'll try find out what it's worth for ya.

Fairlady Z stroker
Ok I'm gonna correct you all.. From what I've noticed it is a 240z if it's Japanese they came with the 260z dash earlier on so in a sense it's not a 260z dash it's the later dash. Remember this is a Japanese Z so it has alot of options we did not see till later. I read an article about how Road and Track first reviewed the 240z and said it's a great car but needs some more options including mag wheels so that's probably why later cars had stuff like A/C , defoggers, mag wheels etc etc.. Check with http://datsun30.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ you will note his fairlady has a 260z dash. Also some of the Japanese Z's had both the C pillar Z badge and the vented hatch... Alan how correct am i?:classic: PS : Zvoiture I totally disagree I love the car. Picture is of a 432.

Japanese stock engine
Before I leave it at that for others reading I think I should also mention that the S20 had different engine mounts is this correct?? Also are the gearboxes compatible? And is the weight of the engine any different? more less <>. THanks.

Japanese stock engine
Hey Alan, Is the kit very hard to get a hold of? No doubt it's expensive. I think you've mentioned this before but the L Series engine shares no similarities with the S20 does it??? What i mean is you can't just slap the twin cam head onto a L engine??? Chris! Alan is our little Guru or bible or database. We just love him :classic: . I hope to know as much as he does one day :classic: .

Midnight Snacks
I enjoy my hot Milo(for those who don't know Milo is a chocolate drink available only in Aus to my knowledge very good stuff). It's a chocolate Milk. I always raid the fridge for fresh fruit ie: Strawberries and grapes.

Yikes!!! Look what's for sale here
If you help 240z I will Alan .... I don't know what to say about this car I'm really quite speechless. I must say however I do hate it. The only thing that makes the car look ok is the fact that it's built on a 240z. At least it's only a HLS30 I'll run for cover. Kidding guys I like all 240z's.

>240 race car in Melbourne
Hmmm might go have a look at the parts car. I wonder what year I'd probably say 72, or 73. Can't see a vented hatch It's always a good idea to have spares just don't have much on me in the way of cash at the moment. always the case when these bargains come up.

For $50
I would not pay much for it but I tell you it's the kind of car I'd love to restore. I know it's alot of work but I get great satisfaction from such a project. I would like to find a 69mdl like this here in AUS and buy it. It's the kind of project car that nobody could flame you for doing a few wild mods to. Ie: V8 or RB26DETT conversion. I personally like originality but if I was gonna put that effort into a car like that I wouldn't mind making it a bit of a performance car.

Intake Manifolds.
Ok now I'm looking for actuall proof with this question not "supposed to be" or "rumored too have's". It's regarding the E88 & N36 intake manifolds. I have heard the N36 gives a 10Hp power increase. I ask this because I have one spare in the garage that is acutally collecting dust(saw dust). One the car I have a E88. I understand that this might only benefit if you have done other modifications. So I'm gonna list the mods done to my L28. It's a F54 block with E88 head. 10:1 comp. mild cam, ZX valves, some head work. Extractors and the equivelent of a mandrel bend exhaust system infact there are no bends the exhaust runs straight down the middle of the car. Electronic distributor and coil.. So the car flows quite well. Anyway do you guru's think that if I bolt the N36 up I'll get more power????:classic:

P90 Heads in Australia
So they came on the patrol L engine aswell??? Is this the same engine that has the L28D crank??. While I've got your attention ben has anybody built a 3.0L stroker turbo L engine??? I have been thinking about doing this for a while now but read somewhere it was not really possible??? I believe anything's possible with enough $$$ . Thanks. And to answer the initial question yes they are rare I found one in my 260z that when I bought did not realise it had one. I'm told they flow very well but mine is in need of somework I'd say. For now my early E88 head will do

Factory V8 240Zs
So your saying Nissan actually tried the V8??? I heard that Bob sharp racing put the engine in from a limo and used it to race with twin turbo's. It was a 280zx however not a s30. I also heard rumours that the Z was originally gonna have a 4 cylinder also... Can anyone confirm any of this???? Also why wouldn't they let you register a Manual V8 Z???? only auto???

many questions need help
Su carb maintenance. I'm wondering is there a section on this site that gives a write up on the maintenance of these things. I find that they always seem to be too rich but I admit I've never bought a Unisyn or Colortune kit for it I've been putting it off and since someone reveresed into my Z a week or so ago I've spent the money on getting a new bonnet sprayed. ENough about that however.... The oil in the dampening chamber is to stop the throttle opening up too quick isn't it? As far as I understand to tune these things you first set your electrical timing. Allow the car to be warm of course. Remove air filter. Disconnnect carbs at throttle linkage so that they are independant of each other. Adjust air flow nut so that both carbs are sucking the same amount using the famous Unisyn or go by hearing as I do . Bring car down to normal idle speed. Reconnect carbs together check air flow again. After that to do the mixture right I believe u start at 2 and 1/2 turns from the top, down. Since I don't have the color tune you should be looking for a brownish color on your spark plugs after a quick drive on each 123 cylinders and 456 cylinders. Gray means too lean black means too rich..... That's my input maybe not very clear but best I can do with this little sleep. Has anyone got a better site than this.. http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/su.html For maintaining or tuning SU carbs??? I was gonna buy that book off ebay but they need credit card something I don't have .

L28 Turbos in Australia???
Ben's pretty much got it all nailed down there. Ben I'd like to know more about these dealer turbo options???? I have a L28 P90 Head F54 BLock engine here not sure what compression it's running haven't pulled it apart yet. Yes Simon's L28 is a mean piece of machine. I have another friend www.geocities.com/spized1969/ who has an L28 turbo in his car I think he's using a N42 engine head. THe car makes 200RWKW he's hoping to upgrade that soon with a new turbo and aim for around 230rwkw +. Basically the intake manifold is different. The exhaust manifold will have to be fabricated. To suit a turbo. The ZX came with a T3 stock much like the VL but without water cooling I think. You will need an ECU not cheap should buy a good one. Gearbox might be a problem u could use a late model FJ20 unit I believe not sure on the mods required. Z boxes are pretty strong anyway. That's all I can think of for now I've missed bits and pieces I'm sure. :classic:
