  1. Ok due to the fact that Z's go for values that are rarely consistent, it's hard to put an exact figure on what you'd get for it. I took a look at your photo's and I think photos are a great way of getting a good feel for a car but like all things you need to see it in person to make a real decision. The paint while red as you say isn't perfect and things like color coated window frames and bumpers will cost you in the originality department. I realise as you say it's not an original car, but previous examples have been shown to fetch higher prices the more original they are. This is mainly because the Z is becoming a rare breed of car in Australia and so many were changed and modified. The engine bay is looking good and clean too this is definately a plus for the car and the interior is fresh looking too so that is a bonus. I would usually consider a car like this to be priced around 6k however many people will more than likely offer you less than this. I've seen alot of well restored Z's modified or not go for a low price$$$ so as I say it's really hard to pin point a figure you could get alot more than 6 or you could get nothing over 4k. The body looks straight which is always good and rust isn't visible from the outside another bonus. I spose it depends where exactly the rust is and how bad. Dunno if that helps.
  2. what are the door handles like the passenger one on mine is a bit loose is it in good working order and chrome still good? does it have any diamond stich material for the strut towers transmission tunnel etc.??? :classic:

  4. I know exactly what it's like to have your car damaged as does Carl. I agree with Smokey you do have to be careful with the vintage machines. It's not easy to find someone who can repair it properly I had mine reveresed into recently and a bonnet + paint is gonna cost me around $2000 at the end I'm guessing because I just haven't been happy with the initial $1000 I outlayed on it. I'm gonna try get a friend to help me fix the old bonnet with a dolly and hammer and patience then get it painted by a friend who works at a body shop. Anyway I'm a bit off topic but my point is that a friend asked me the other day why I haven't been driving my car, my reply cause it's classic have to look after it and his attitude is it's a car drive it, having said that he outlayed $30k AUD on a new Intergra Type R to have a couple weeks later an old lady hit the side . I think if I were you I'd get another 1/4 panel welded in but you run the risk of someone not welding it in correctly. If the bonnet is damaged it might be cheaper to find a straight one than it is to try fix that. Maybe now you could go with 240z bumpers as oppose to finding 280z ones. They look nicer but you might be going for originality. I have attached a pic of the damage done to my Z similar to yours but mine was a write off and the chassis was bent bad. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4008&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4009&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

Thanks for all the input guys, some great ideas in there. I just bought some heat shrink today so all I need now is time. I finish up school in approx a week or so and that will be it then holidays yay. So I will be able to have a play around then . I will try get some photo's together of the final result. I think it's a 10" sub btw. At the moment it's a package I bought together as time and money dictates I'll probably find the ultimate set up. Just want some music in the car haven't had a good stereo in a Z ever, always spending money on things I think are more important but I think it's good to make it comftable when your not feeling like racing everywhere .

Yep I was already thinking of making a MSA style copy for my speakers after I saw the price of the MSA one then convert to AUD$ forget it. I think your right i was gonna put the amp under the passenger side . For the subwoofer I'm thinking about the spare tyre well more and more .
  8. Gav240z posted a post in a topic in Interior
Unfortunately I'm not in the US of A and MSA might be a bit more expensive than what I was looking to spend. I have thought about getting rid of the spare tyre but I'm a bit worried if I ever need to get home on a spare somewhere. There really isn't much room. And yes your correct fitting the new stereo through the existing slot will be tight and I don't wanna cut away at the centre heater cluster even a little. I think if I slot it through underneath the fusebox and put it through the front that way she will fit in . http://www.geocities.com/jasonparuta/images/audio02.jpg i think this is the box you mentioned and it does look nice . http://www.geocities.com/jasonparuta/ credit to Jason BTW.

Same thing in the movie the big hit, With Mark Whalberg when he drives his yellow think it was a pontiac firebird. He busts out of his garage with it and then some time during the chase the car get's beat up as hell but in the next scene it's brand new. Obviously the order of the shots. . I think if i get time one day I'll try compile a list of Z car in movies. I'm frustrated though I saw a Z in a movie once a 280z with those peanut racing rims and it was going through a drive through somewhere but can't remember the name of the movie but I do remember hearing that Z engine .
  10. I have seen that 240k at Lindsy Drife's workshop. However I haven't been in there for a long time I usually see Waz at Zworx these days. It was a pretty mean project in progress I wish I had that turbo motor for my Z .
  11. Now now Ben is like the rest of us he's not perfect. He's pretty good with his history but I think the point about the 120y and 240k was that the 240k is such a big car and a 120y is lighter. It was a bit of tongue in cheak but I don't think he's having a dig at you 240k guys. I think Ben knows as well as you do that with a bit of work and modification you can extract plenty of ponnies outta a L6. I've seen turbo 240ks before and I reakon they'd go like the clappers . Anyway just don't think it's worth getting all worked up over. :tapemouth

Ok long story short I have bought a stereo system for my Z off a mate which included a headunit(mp3) , 2 6X9's and a subwoofer and amp. Only real dilemna is fitting the subwoofer in as it's pretty big, I'm looking for ideas and designs or pictures of current set ups in peoples cars. My goal is to make it subtle as the Z doesn't have any way of hiding the contents of the boot easily and I don't wanna give thiefs a red flag to come and take my gear . Oh there are a few other limitations i don't wanna drill holes in anything cut any interior pieces up stuff like that.
  13. I reakon he's gotta be a sales man with that kind of enguinuity. he's pretty good I'll give him that. I like the new paint job he also mentions really shows up.

made me want an RB26 . Good to see a few Z's getting into it.
  15. I don't think Amazed is the correct word it's Ebay remember. . Funny works now at home hmmm oh well.
  16. Steve it's not working, was it taken down because it was a load of rubbish or what?

well here are some photos of the set up I took a while back and forgot about this post. Excuse the underbody of the car looking a bit dirty. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7549&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7550&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7551&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

I know of a member 1TuffZ who has fitted a Supercharger to an L-Series engine only one I've seen. Personally I like the idea of a supercharger over a turbo cause no lag. Too bad there more expensive and usually can't produce as much power .

$1k if your correct is dirt cheap. I'm not sure if with a system like this you'd require fuel pump, fuel rails etc.. I guess my best bet it to call Steve or better yet pop in and see him. I was thinking it would cost around 3 large.
  21. I have been considering the same thing as you, but am partial to the style of the original seats when in new condition they look awesome. However I do like the racing style seat I think you need to make measurements of height and width go from there. Brackets and be easily fabricated I have a friend with this style but they arn't very adjustable might be annoying for u dunno.

came across this lovely thing on cardomain. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/442599/1 thought other would enjoy I did. Great example of what a restoration should be on a Z.:classic:

But of course how could I be so stupid I've been wanting to get a set like this in Australia had no idea where to go. Don't spose you know how much they want for a kit to suit the L series? I think this would give outstanding performance and daily drivability. :classic:

Only one of those in Melbourne the owner was at a fuel station when i spoke with him. Told me about the Rb26 in it and wanted to buy my Superlites off my Z for a friend he said he knew of a Z to pull parts from never got back to me about it but even after i left a msg with where to get my wheels from.

I think the lesson to be learned is basically ask permission before using any images from the owner. However I do save a heap of pictures videos and other Z car related material to my hard drive and backup to another medium for my own personal use which I feel is harmless. I think it's the use of the image for other purposes ie: make profit or to modify an image in such a way that it may even offend the original owner or stealing logo's etc.
