  1. Hi Alan, Ben! Is this a Compe wheel? This is one of my favourite interiors. Alan- while this pic is displayed can you tell me if the rev counter is a Factory Competition item? Never seen one quite like that before, would be great to have one
  2. Hi Dan, glad your mechanic got the parts you needed.. I should have checked your location first like Carl did, I assumed you were from the US and hence I gave you the US numbers.. As said above I strongly recommend you getting a FREE Victoria British Catalogue, it is so useful for referencing and also for naming parts too! Oh and you can also buy things from it .They take absolutely ages sending it so get on to it now and you may be receiving it in the next couple of months. If you're overseas you have to pay for the MSA (Motorsport Auto) catalogue, but it gets refunded on your first order. Happy Zzzing..
  3. Totally agree with you 26ounce, scraper can be very handy when doing the brittle stuff, as I had too on the 280zx. The 240Z is all thickly coated and goooey.... thats where it gets harder. Dattoo, when do you get the digi cam back? I wanna see this pic .. It will not only be amusing but also educational... ie.. what you should wear when working underneath your Z ..

Really I never new that and thanks for the clarification. Besides this geogrpahical error, Enrique's message should have come across by now.
  6. Hi Keith, How's the weather? You started painting yet? Thanks for the info.. I really didnt realise it would be so much hassle to remove... I think I will avoid this kind of hassle and just paint it as best I can in situ. It can't look anyworse then it already does. THANKS
  7. Hi Paul, Stop lurking and welcome to the fold . I read about your restoration from the UK site, it's great to see the completed car, it looks fantastic. So is it Ferrari Rosso? It's got to match its room partner hasnt it? Us London boys should all meet up sometime. Alan (HS30) and Guy (Saint), have really great looking Z's too. Thank you Alan for the compliment regarding my Z, that's is a real honour coming from you. Paul, check out Alan's pictures of his Z in his gallery! Enjoy the ride and I hope to meet you London guys soon. George.
  8. Hi Enrique , Thanks for the great information you provide, as always. As far as I am aware, we do not have many stockist of POR 15 here in the UK. I am therefore limited to the one product. This being the general POR 15 that you can paint over rust and likes to adhere to rough surfaces. Being limited to the full ptoduct range, I would have liked to have been able to purchase a tin of POR 15 which can be used on smooth surfaces as I want a nice finish to some of the parts I am painting. For instance, with the tension rods I wire brushed them with an attachment on the drill, I can say it's fairly smooth but the POR 15 still stuck to it ok, so I am hoping that it doesn't really matter too much. My stockist does have the POR 15 cleaning and thining solvent but I have not purchased it. I think it would be useful as once the brushes get used thats it for them. Instead, I have stocked up on cheap brushes. The High Temp POR is definitely out of the question for my stockist so I will have to take your advice and just use the regular stuff.. By the way, i didnt realise the baffle plate was so hard to remove.. anyone have any quick tips to give? Thanks.
  9. Good idea on eye and hair protection:).. Shower cap must look real funny though.. I prefer a baseball hat It really does get messy when using a drill with a wire wheel, especially if the underseal is brittle and old. Bits go everywhere..
  10. Yeah don't use a blow torch, the seller won't be too happy...
  11. As Micheal says above.... but I'd also like to add... wear your worst T Shirt and jeans on the day you view the car, take a good torch with you and get under that beast... A large cardboard box flattened comes in useful if you dont want to get too dirty... Just check everyhwere for rust, also look-out for repairs or newly layed undercoat, which may have not been repaired properly. Don't be afraid to get under the car, if the owner has nothing to hide he wont have a problem. The longer you take inspecting it from below, the more you know what your'e buying and what your'e letting yourself in for. Good luck

Sorry to hear your news. I am surprised no one told you to check there as that is one of the most common areas to check for first. Leaking battery acid generally starts the corrossoin off at that spot. Probable cause is an overactive voltage regulator, so check the voltage to ensure its been fixed. It sucks but if as you said the rest of the cars isn't too bad, then thats a result in itself. Good luck with the repairs. Loads of experienced good people on here who can offer good advice. Good luck.
  13. Hi folks, I would like to know if the baffle plate, the metal shield that sits behind the Front Brake Rotor, can be painted with POR 15? I am wondering how hot that shield gets and if POR 15 can handle it (can't seem to find any temp. rating on the product). I don't race and I don't drive the car that often? What do you think? Will it flake off quickly? Thanks

Tanny, If you look under the front of your car you should see about 8 small bolt holes, 2 are located on the suspension member, 3 are located on the forward end of the car, directly above the radiator and the others are located on sides of the frame rails. These holes may all have been covered with underbody paint at one time, hence you may not be able to see them at first glance. DatsunZguy, I know what you mean about hard to reach bolts once they get dropped. I bought a tool, for this very job, which resembles a car antenna, one end of it is very stronly magnetised and it can even pick up a small metal tin of paint. Great for those hard to reach dropped bolts.
  20. :stupid: I had no idea this car was coming from OZ... Know, I understand what Rob meant.
  21. No joke intended. I have heard of a few LHD American Z's being converted to RHD here in the UK, costly yes but impossible no.
  22. Phil, you are one hell of a lucky bugger :classic: . You will have loads of fun in this car I'm sure. Are you going to have it changed to RHD? If you're ever in London, give me a shout, I'd love to see her and chat about Z's over a beer. Best of luck on the boat journey... Whats the estimated time of arrival? You picking up from Felixstowe? Nice to have such a modded Z in England.
  23. Take a look at this..... $1.00 and no reserve. This guy must be a newbie on ebay, I feel bad for him as I am sure he's screwed up here. A Wheal Deal!
  24. Alfadog, thanks for the opinion.. I am leaning towards the rectangular ones too, as I think they look more aesthetically pleasing then the huge circular ones.. I was originally hoping the big old round ones would look ok as I found a real nice classic chromed pair of those real cheap. Well, the rectangular ones it is and I will try to get yellow if possible. Thanks guys and a special thanks to SFMRZ, for sharing his sweet looking ride with us.
