There's a superb custom body shop up the road called Time Machines. They specialize in "hybrid muscle cars". I bring this up because we were at a show and they had a '68 Camaro on display with a Viper engine AND Viper interior! I should have taken pictures. Fantastic automobile. Strickly a World of Wheels showpiece. Seems the Viper engine is what machine heads are putting into alot of cars now a days (at least around here). My (not my husbands) motto is everything in moderation. $50K, hah, I've got alot more than that in the 77 280Z and I still have the L28! Keep playing the Lotto!!! Vicky

Ben Scott has informed me where the topy dates are on the steel wheels. I highly doubt they match the production date of the car, but you never know, I'll check all 4 tomorrow. I have to pop the hub caps off. I hate hub caps and I wanted to change them but my husband said no. That's the way they came from the factory and that how they stay. Vicky

Open the drivers side door, look on the body above the door latch. There should be a metal plate with your vehicles "build or production" date. Vicky

Hey 26th-Z There is a place in St Pete/Largo called Alert Bumper on Ulmerton Road. We had a bumper re-chromed for around $250.00 with a turn around time of less than a week. They specialize in classic and high end show vehicles. Absolutley beautiful with a guarantee! These guys are the best in the southeast!!! I highly recommend them for your majestys work. Absolutely Carl! The only true way to prove if this car was a FR production Z is to verify the VIN.. That's what we did. Even though our Z was sitting on the showroom floor with velvet ropes around it. I wanted to be sure that this was not just some superb restoration done by many capable body shops. As soon as we looked the car over, I called PierreZ. All he needed was the VIN and the color, three days later I had my verification of authenticity. Along with all the "Vintage Z" paperwork, documentation, window sticker with "1972" options, etc, I still demanded the shipping letter from Nissan North America to the Nissan dealership in Tampa. I even got a copy of the check that they paid to NNA for the car and shipping charges. My idea was that if you pay that much for a car, ANY CAR, you better be damn sure you're getting the real thing, IMO. I believe that green Z is true, but it is a sloppy resto compared to the others that I have seen. Maybe the PO wanted to drive it around, as it should be. But I sure as hell would have taken better care of it if I was going to sell it. It's still a beautiful car. Just my .02 cents Vicky

PierreZ did our FR 240Z and he did a fantastic job. But honestly, Scott and I both think the 1977 280Z that he and the body man built is in every bit as good (or better) shape then the FR 240Z. Don't get me wrong the 240Z is cherry, but because my husband built his 280Z himself, he went that "extra" step in detail. Plus the 77 280Z is ultra modified (NO V-8) and the bone stock 240Z sitting next to it just looks.........well............so simple. They really are two different cars so it's not fair to compare modified to stock, but you guys know what I'm trying to say, right? Vicky

Wow, that drivers door gap is pretty bad. I don't recall the Z comming from the factory with the slots. I believe the wheels and tires are add-ons, but I may be wrong. My FR 1972 240Z has hub caps and Toyos. I heard they only did maybe one or two automatics. My Z came with the original warranty offered by Datsun in 1972. Odometers where NOT turned back FYI. Vicky

Simple check to see if the sunroof leaks, close it up securely and run a hose over it. Are the bumpers really that much of a big deal? Keep the car that needs less work, it's that easy. Vicky

Yes "Frumpy", like a big fat grandma, that has a little pep, but you've seen pictures of her when she was thin, sleek and fast (240Z) Vicky

Carl The red arrows are pointing to the seat slider bars. That is correct on all my Z's as shown in your diagram. I'm speaking of the the recliner lever on the seat bottom nearest the door. Vicky

I really can't tell anything from that diagram Carl. Tried to enlarge it but I couldn't. Went and looked at the owners manual on the 72 240Z and it shows the seat recline lever on the outside of the seat nearest the door (as they are on the car). Would be interested to have others check their owners manual to see what position they show the lever as being. This is quite interesting, no? Vicky

Wouldn't the seat slider lever also be in the wrong position on richyboycaldos drivers seat if it truly is a passenger seat? Vicky

All my Z's have the seat recline lever on the side nearest the door. The passenger seat lever is on the right of the seat, the drivers seat lever is on the left of the seat. This is not correct? Vicky

I like the color! The rims are a little tall IMO, makes the tires look like rubberbands. But the side by side comparison shot just shows how much better looking the 240Z is over the frumpy 350Z. Vicky
