  1. Well since Cary is here, I must rephrase my FP answer. You can set the engine back in FP if you run under the in-excess rule and up to but not exceeding GT2 rules. There is a fair amount of penalty weight added. My goal is to build the car so it can run under FP then switching to the XP rules, which do not allow the in-excess back door. My thinking on the radiator is the weight is added down low between the wheels for routing water and you are just moving weight outside the wheelbase in front to outside the wheelbase in rear. I have removed so much weight in the rear with a lightened hatch-polycarbate window, small tank and metal cut out I want to put some back.
  2. Here is a photo by Mark Mervich on baautox.com of the car at the Atwater National Tour.
  3. Yes to move weight to the back. If I run FP I am under weight and you can't set the engine back. Here is a picture of Jesus Villalreal's 400hp V6 Camaro and his radiator air inlet in the side window
  4. I made the fuel cell unit to sit on top of its mounts so I could add spacers for the 6 inch clearance rule. I am trying 23.5 diameter tires and 25 inch diameter tires in the rear. It is set up at 6 inches for the 25 and can be spaced for the 23.5. Maybe a sheet of aluminum set at 7 degrees to "route" the exiting radiator air.
  5. It has an Earls filter-pump and Fram filter all on it as a unit so it is heavier than it looks in the photo. I was going to hang the muffler off of it too. Diffusers aren't allowed in FP or XP. I posted a picture of Darius's diffuser on SCCA forums.com and everyone seemed to think no way. I am thinking of a Scirroco radiator in the rear though which is allowed in both FP and XP. Hmmm, if I tilt the radiator at 7 degrees like John did with his fuel cell........
  6. I am just finishing my offset 3 gallon "fuel cell" and Design Products (old Tilton style) camber plates installation. If I can figure out enough insulation I will be moving the muffler to that side too to help offset my fat a**.
  7. Steve and Ian are regulars in FPrepared there in Fresno. I do not know if they will be attending the 20th.
  8. When I talked to Dave Malvern several years ago he said he would get his race carbs level at all costs. He would remove as much vibration as possible by modyfing the Comp rubber isolaters and shield the carbs from the header heat. "No matter how much insulation you have now it is still not enough". I have the short manifold (can't help it I was born that way) and those funky white plastic isolaters with the carbs at an off angle and it has been fine even with quite a bit of autocrossing. That said, if you know anyone selling a Datsun Comp manifold let me know since I was told by a racer more torque is available with that manifold. Jon, my large ITG filter is a problem with Vacuum booster when I position the engine back to the firewall which is legal in XP SCCA auto-x or in FP if you run under the GT-2 in excess rule with accompanying weight penalty.
  9. Australians get more room for tripples and air cleaners with the brake booster and master cylinder on the other side of the engine bay. Here is a website with some Mikuni info and where I buy parts for my 44's. http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/carbid.html
  10. The mechanic who fixes our company vehicles is into Z's and picked me up a copy of this magazine. Unbelievable!!! I haven't enjoyed a magazine with this much photographic detail since my first Playboy....but in a different way. Snag a copy if you can.
  11. Cool magazine but I thought I was first to do this in a Z....crap, second again. I got the idea from Tube280Z.
  12. With wider flares it's easier to push Porsches out of the way. :cheeky: I say do it.
  13. There are more pics of the style you like at http://www.balancedperformance.com/download.shtml More are here http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?si=balanced+performance&limit=
  14. You might be interested in a GT2 build up series of articles I found in a Canadian club newsletter. They are in intermittent months but are listed in the table of contents for the months that they do appear. http://www.omsc.ca/fast_lines.htm Articles 1-6 are no longer in the online archive but I e-mailed the webmaster to see if they are still available.
  15. Here is the pic he sent me. I think it is the Balanced Performance car now or at least the same flares. I have a pic or two of his tubeframe being built somewhere. I have looked through 4 CD's of my pictures but no luck yet.
  16. I have a couple of pictures of David Ogburns GT2 in my Gallery at http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3968&cat=500&page=1 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3969&cat=500&page=4 I e-mailed him about the body work and he said then he did not want to sell any copies but had older molds of his other body for sale. They were not as wild. I found the pictures on an old GT2 website.
