  1. The wheels were Ronals with 245-45-16 in the rear around 9 inch wheels. The fronts were skinnier. The new owner has 16x8 all around.
  2. Nice madkaw, 17x8 in the rear? @jwerner2- the airdam was a Kaminari, the flares are one off custom and everything was molded into one piece. When it rolled out of the body shop they were taking bets on how soon it would return with a cracked front airdam. 30 yrs later it's still good and that includes 15 yrs. of daily driving and track days too.
  3. Hey MikeMercury that looks really nice! I love the clean bumper look. Here is my brothers old car built in the 80's. A real ticket magnet in California.
  4. Bill and I should be there.
  5. Sunday the Ferrari was there again along with a GT-40 and a DeTomaso Pantera. Sorry I couldn't attend Saturday.
  6. Tear up the autocross course? More like watch me take last on mud and snow tires. Steve Mill in his Z is running quicker with some R tires but there are no true Prepared Zs there. I would suggest you get a temp weekend membership and run yourselves, it's fun.
  7. Here is the article Arne wrote that I used to swap my 73 auto to a manual 5 speed. It wasn't super easy for me but it is sure worth it. The under dash work is hard for me (I'm kinda huge). http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21274
  8. This made my morning and congratulations, that couldn't be easy.
  9. E.J. and Susan Fontaine were the 914 drivers that always kicked my butt. A quick google search found these specs 1974 914-6 Racecar. 2.8 12 1/2 to 1 fresh engine with 2hr runtime. 46 IDA Webbers- Coil Spring 911 FrontEnd - 901 with limited slip - Sheridan Body - Fuel Cell - Roll Cage. They now drive a Corvette after selling the 914. Here's a pic, it's the red one.
  10. Huh, I swear he said he had a six swap but maybe he was having 6 cylinder envy with all the Zs around. If those VW/Audis (there I said it) didn't have their engine hidden under panels it would be easier to identify. When I had a faster Z with slicks I ran against a 914-6 that I could never beat so really I have some respect for them.
  11. That's an autocross weekend. Bring the donuts out to Mather and run that 914-6 that was at the last meet. It shouldn't be too hot
  12. Cool site:D Sorry about the navigation, I'm an old guy with no website skills.
  13. http://classicdatsun.com/ under 240Z fiberglass
  14. Yes, I took photos of that 510 years later when it sat on pole for an SCCA race at Sears Point.
  15. I have a metal one for sale in perfect condition. I will pm you.
  16. I'll be there with my orange 73 along with friend Bill and his white 73 Z.
  17. Didn't Pete Brock just shove a Chevy into a 510? I thought he was "into Datsuns" too. Anyway sorry Carl I forgot which site I was posting to. Going away now.
  18. Jay is a master craftsman and has been busy starting his own business. I saw this car while under constuction and his fabrication skills are amazing. I gave him a ride at an autocross many years ago and he said that's what got him into Zs. (proud papa moment) http://www.jayshotrods.com/index.php
  19. What a great event!
  20. Montezuma, I pmed you. Terry, I am not familiar with vintage rules, I would think as in any racing, a rulebook with the group you wish to run with is the first thing to buy. As for current competitors, I know Bob Sharp himself is about to campaign a car. I will have pics up this weekend in the Replica GTU section. SharpSite racing was running a few cars but had one up for sale. The Frisselle car ran Laguna recently. There is also one being rebuilt in the south that he thinks is one of the NTS Racing cars like Sam Posey ran.
  21. Hi Terry, I have a website dedicated to the IMSA GTU Zs that many have contributed to, including members here. http://zlalomz.googlepages.com/imsagtuz If you have any pics and/or history of the car I would love to include it on the site. Thanks, Steve P.S. A friend just gave me what I believe is an original Datsun Comp race weight rear flare. That's a 12 inch Panasport with a 13 inch slick and still has room for more.
  22. A friend posted the links on a 914 website and one guy commented, Autocrossing back when men were men, drinking Budweiser and wearing gym shorts
  23. That's just half the camera. The deck using 3/4 inch wide video tape is inside the IMSA Porsche.
  24. The city of Vallejo Ca. let a select group of autocrossers run 4 annual events in their downtown. I shot this video for a show called Evening Magazine based in San Francisco. There are 2 Zs in there including National Champion Andy Craig on a rare off day.(Sorry Andy). Listen to his 14 to 1 compression L28. A trio of kick butt 510s are also in there.
