  1. Hey TexasZ, we always seem to meet like this... Have you had the chance to replace your u-joints? I am suspecting I may need to do the same and want to know how it went. I swapped in my spare motor over the weekend, It was pretty str8 forward. I have not reinstalled the FI etc as I have a sheared exaust stud and subsiquent sheered easeout to deal with... Looks like I'm just going to have a head job on my old head and kill 2 birds with one stone rather then worry with trying to drill that easeout out of there, so It'll be a while before I get everything back together. I'll let you know how everything goes. And I need some radiator work too....
  2. I couldn't find anything in the archives so if there is a thread on this just shot me to it... What are you guys paying for head work. I am considering sending out my spare head to have it redone and wanted to know what you guys are paying for a basic upper end valvejob/machine work. Bw
  3. A lot of that spookiness and excessive roll is often due to worn out bushings, bad shocks, or both. All of the negative tendencies of the Z are compounded greatly if thats the case. Have you replaced any of the rubber bushings with poly?
  4. Anyone have a spare copy of the rebuilding Nissan OHC engines book I can Borrow buy or trade in Dallas?, Mine didn't come thru now I just have the factory manual (pull engine, rebuild, torque, replace) and this forum for my rebuild which we are starting this weekend. Bryan
  5. That only helps if you own your own machine shop...
  6. even with the overfenders the 235s won't fit? or you just don't want to drill the holes? I'm running 235's on my 14X7's and the fit is fine except I get a little rubbing in the pass. front on my msa airdam, I think If they were 60 series not 70 it would be ok.
  7. I'd be interested to see top speed posted also. I did 125+mph with 5 psi compression on cyl 6 and 35 on cyl 3 w/ 4:11 gears and a 4 speed so I figure some of you 5 speed non-broken engine guys have really pushed it...
  8. I have the same arrangement sans resonanator/ no tip. - Bigger gorrilla, longer drum solo, same basic concept
  9. 1. You are not married or at least have no kids. response - am married, 1 kid - he's a heavy sleeper 2. It is your birthday. response - It's allways my birthday! 3. Your partner wants something and feels the need to blackmail you. response - she wants something but its not blackmail 4. You are making it up... response - nope 5. Or you are the luckiest guy on the planet.....and we all hate you response - not only do I have nothing to complain about in the bedroom dept., she bought the Z for me as a present! Fell free to hate me bc know I have the perfect wife (and she loves to cook!!!) she wants to take a sexy pic on the hood of the Z, so the proof will be forthcoming...
  10. Nope, just scared of a bunch of Ozzys (who may or may not call themselves 'Banana Benders') talking about there erections! Esp. frightened we might "Come a Gutser" and you blokes might get angry and "Give us a Gobful" considering the context... Bw In Texas Ya'll - "the other outback"
  11. Vic, is that a cowboy bebop avatar?
  12. update: I have a lower? milage 77 L28 sitting on my garage floor next to the stand it will go onto, next to my car. I don't have compression readings on the engine, and my guess s that this cannot be done on the stand, I don't have a compressor for leakdown test My current L28 is still in the car and I can unplug the #6 cyl and it runs about the same as with it plugged in. Still Drives ok(!?) If the 77 motor checks out to be solid (any ideas as to how to check it while its out of the car would be smashing (I guess I'll have to load it up and take it somewhere?) I would not be opposed to putting it in the car and rebuilding the sick 75 engine as need arises, I really do need to get some other things done to the car prior to autox season (tires/wheels/struts/helmet/coilovers?/etc) any thoughts, condolences, words of wisdom for what I'm soon to embark on, and anyone it dallas with ideas or a small compresser and a leakdown kit that would like to stop by and help me checkout this engine would be a friend for life Bryan W
  13. I am thinking about putting black and white bre stripes on my car like this, pardon the mspaint
  14. You didn't have an option for no stereo, "sound system by flowmaster". :classic: Bw
  15. Come to think of it there is a place near my work that might fit the bill, And I can brush up on my spanish too. I'll let you guys know what I find out Bw
  16. At least your PO didn't shut the gas door in the middle of the painting process and get a couple of big drips in the paint! "And his suble use of overspray was an artistic marvel..." But its all the same color, good enough for me. Bw
  17. Does anyone know a cheap place to get tires mounted in Dallas? I need to get some auto-x tires, and I can get the tires for $100 less then what discount retails them for by mailorder(including shipping) but If everywhere charges $25 a tire to unmount and remount then its a wash. Anyone know a cheaper place to get tires installed in Dallas? $100 to pull off 4 tires and put 4 on is crazy to me. Bw
  18. those are pretty much a Watanabe replica, Watanabe has them, but they are jdm and it will cost you plenty. Your could comb the internet and ebay, finding a set of modular Watanabes or Panasports used, and painting or plating them the gold color, you usually see the Watanabes in Black. The Panasports go for like $400 each I think, the Watanabes would be at least that. http://store3.yimg.com/I/jspec_1755_2191618 I think you'd be better of buying the 16x7 panasport 1 pieces and masking them and painting or powercoating them gold, you'd save 1/2 the price at 250 a peice and the lip is polished. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=25-1016&Category_Code=PFW Good luck! 19. The spring rates on the st springs are 182 front and 202 rear, BTW. Looks like I'll probably go for the Illuminas some time before spring, unless I find some Koni Yellows for the 75 Z.
  20. I'm looking at adding new struts to my auto-x car this winter ($$$ permitting) and am looking at getting the illuminas rather then revalving my current units or getting the Konis ($$$). I have the suspention techniques springs and swaybars. Is anyone running this setup with the tokicos? Any recomendations? I belive the ST springs lower the car 1" and the tokico spings 2" but I may be mistaken. thanks BW
  21. http://www.vulcantire.com/azenis_t.htm Falken Azenis sport, absolutly te best performance tire for the money. A lot of auto-xers use them in street tire classes. anything else and you have to double the price. only comes in a 195 in 14 though. They don't last as long as a conventional tire (20k tops) but for the price... buy 2 sets. I sugest buying them from discount tire (tires.com) bc they have free shipping on a set. bw
  22. looks pretty nice to me ;-) esp w/ those top wheels I like my FI ok. check it out, and if its everything he says go for it. And I think the yellow looks quite nice, don't listen to these haters, embrace the yellow. BW supporter of the yellow Z
  23. haven't had a chance to drive it yet, It looks like it will be fine. I'll keep you posted. BW
  24. Negative, Ghost Rider, the patern is full. :classic:
