  1. My ambiguous. Of course plenty of 370Z's were raced but to my knowledge they were never competitive at the top end. Most of the top end makes were more expensive but comparable in engine capacity. Money spent was not the problem, it boiled down to inferior mechanical grip and chuckability, to use a technical description.
  2. Pfffft to what it looks like, the thing is it uses the 370Z structure and that car never made on the track. So have Nissan kidnapped some chassis experts to sort the thing out with some better grip controllable on the limit and comparable with the Euros? This would not cost a lot of money just a determination to do it right like they did in 1969.
  3. Some BRE tweaked metal in action in Australia at my local circuit, ripper video. It's the first BRE customer car built after the three race cars.
  4. Did a bit of research and it seems that the 400 will use a modified 370Z chassis and suspension, surprise surprise, not. Let's just hope that they have knocked some weight out of it without losing rigidity and have improved the suspension because I followed closely a couple of 370Z's that were sensibly with money prepared for racing but never made it. Basically too heavy for the mechanical grip they were able to generate.
  5. One essential part which does not seem to be discussed at all is the chassis/suspension, something which is crucial to real performance on a circuit. Just look at the 370Z, it had adequate power but never made it on the race track because others handled better. Unfortunately the 400 looks like it uses a parts bin chassis and suspension unlike the S30 which resulted in a car that still gets raced successfully today.   10. Yes, speedway supply places in the US have splined hollow bars, it's such a simple and effective solution, plus there is the option of various size bars. Twin caliper brakes have advantages except for (unsprung) weight?
  11. How about you go over to the Auszcar forum and check out the Z in question and even talk to the builder/driver before doing your Porsche snob thing? If you are genuine that's what you would do instead ranting at the messenger, facts are facts and results are results. If you were a real Z enthusiast you would be rapt but obviously you are a ignorant poseur whose ego depends on putting others down.

You are regularly 'that guy' mate, obviously he had no choice as to what group he was put with so to get some perspective he did 3rd best lap time out of a total of 140 cars, a GT3RS beat him by 5 seconds, lap times in the low 1:50's high 40's. Zeds may be slow in the UK but elsewhere they perform to their potential, the power difference would give that GT3RS a few seconds advantage for a start, plus faster shifting, plus..............

  17. Is that a Z31, hard to tell in black but cool anyway. My project 280Zx uses the '79 body kit made from original moulds from the Z raced by PM.
  18. Look at that left front wheel roll over on the 280ZX above, bet that the rear wheel angles would be 'interesting' too :)
  19. Was it later on that the Z31 2+2's longer wheelbase was preferred for racing? That pic shows to me that the 2+0's rear axle should have been pushed back a touch.
