  1. My cars production date is 10/78. His car is titled as a 78 but it has to be a 79 since these cars (2dr) were only built for the 79 model year with a few stragglers carrying over into the first two months of the 1980 model year. I would imagine his production date would be in 7/78.
  2. That would be 1980. The last production date for the 810 was 9/79. The 910 (Maxima) also began production that same month. The last few 810's (7/79-9/79) were called 1980 although there was no difference between it and the 1979. The first 910's (also 1980) were called 810(!) although they were the 4 door square bodied car. In 1981 they had all four names on them. (Nissan/Datsun 810/Maxima). There are two 1980 Datsun full model line brochures. One showing the early 810 and another showing the later 810 (Maxima).
  3. I think that this site has annoyed Alan T. Which, as you say, is a shame. His posts have always been informative and enjoyable to read. There is a lot of BS to wade through here and maybe he's just tired of it for now.
  4. Mine has that same front as did all the 79 810s. This one appears to be missing some of the emblems and doesn't have the factory option right side power mirror. Those Maxima wheels would have to go! That 'Torino' roof makes the roof look to long imo. Here's a couple of more up to date pictures of mine showing the correct wheels and the front.
  5. Just in case anyone is interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Viewitem&catagory=6188&item=2491314890&rd=1
  6. I guess it's a no-go again this year as I've niether seen nor heard anything. I miss that show.
  7. Are those fairly common over there? I've only seen pictures of them in Datsun publications. Never seen one in the 'States. I wonder why the Ford engine.
  8. That's about normal for my truck. . .of course, mine only holds about 9 gallons. :classic:
  9. I think they're talking about sreen savers.
  10. I'm currently using this one. It's a picture of a Z that belongs to member ezzzzzzz. I usually change my wallpaper every couple of weeks or so. I mainly use something that is Z or at least Datsun related.
  11. Believe me, Alan, I can relate to what you are saying, but what is the solution? Nearly 90% of the members who voted don't mind if their pictures are downlodable and yet the galleries are locked up. I personally don't have the answer that will satisfy everyone and I don't know if there is one.
  12. On the main page, left column, above the shout box, click photo gallery. (Chris beat me to it!)
  13. What was I thinking?
  14. Welcome! Always good to see a clean 280. I had those rims on mine for a while but I had them polished. Just didn't look right, too shiny! Yours look much better with the original finish.
  15. According to the ad, the AC was installed aftermarket probably by a shop local to the dealer. They used ARA a lot here in SoCal. The controlls seemed to go wherever the shop decided to put them. (this is an answer to zhead (post #3) and Vicky (post #4) QUOTE: The original owner's manual and A/C warranty showing 1973 installation date. . . As far as i know you wouldn't get that with factory air since it would be covered by the car's warranty.
  16. I think the poll speaks for itself. Almost 90% of the voters don't give a rats a$$. Put it back how it was. If it wasn't for all of this damn whining, this sight would be as interesting as it once was.
  17. No high pressure hoses! It'l ruin the filter. Spray it with K&N filter cleaner, rinse it from the inside out with a garden hose, let it dry, oil it, and you're good to go.
  18. I was going to mention the check valve as I once had a problem with mine. My car is a 78 and I'm not sure how similar it is to a 72 but when mine went out I didn't hear any hissing. It just wouldn't allow the booster to hold vacuum. Replaced it and the problem went away.
  19. From a side view it kind of looks like the old Bill Thomas Cheetah if anyone remembers that car from the early 60s.

  21. Beautiful car in a beautiful setting. That picture would make a great desktop background.
  22. Or their opinions.
  23. Fever, I'm glad you uderstood what I meant. I had hoped you didn't think I was just giving you a hard time. I would attempt to restore the BPE to as original as possible. Doesn't mean that I'm right or wrong. Just another opinion

Try Silvania SilverStar headlights. I've had them on my 810 for over a year now with no problems. They are nearly as bright as H-4s and require no electrical mods. But I would also check your wiring, fuse box, etc.
  25. What is a Datsun 1978 Hardbody station wagon?
