  1. That's why I use a 9 volt battery to test injectors. The EFI system uses dropping resistors to reduce the voltage to the injectors. I would never hit them with 12 volts.
  2. For me, and this is just my opinion, high preformance clutches and light flywheels were fun when I drove the car hard but were really jerky in everday and especially in stop and go traffic. I drive hard now and then but not often enough to warrant having that kind of setup. You can adjust the free play in the clutch pedal as well as use a stronger return spring. I don't really understand the 'launching out of neutral' thing unless it refers to automatic transmissions. You can't launch a stick out of neutral. 'Race stuff' to me is what it implies and I don't 'race' so my opinions are pretty much based on that.
  3. Music? I have a Batchelor of Arts in Music (Arranging, scoring, and conducting). I play woodwinds; saxophone, clarinet, flute, piccolo, as well as keyboards and harmonica. I have a working knowlege of guitar and bass guitar though I don't play them as well as the aforementioned instruments. I am a certified HVAC tech as well as an MVAC tech. I'm also a certified computer tech. I used to have a welding license but haven't kept up with that other than just personal welding. I enjoy movies and sports, mainly football and baseball but video games just aren't my thing. Grew up in a different era. Have owned Datsuns off and on for over 37 years and presently own three. Maintaining them is probably my number one hobby right now. I'm also a homeowner. I don't know if you'd call that a hobby but it keeps you busy like one. That, and my wife, is plenty to keep me busy as a retired grocery clerk working part time at ACE Hardware until she retires. We have two adult children with children of their own making us grandparents. Well, I kind of rambled on there, didn't I? What was the question?:classic:
  4. Slow down, you're jumping to too many ill-advised conclusions! The car has been sitting for 7 years? Do a fuel pressure check. The tank probably has enough sediment to restrict the pressure even if you've drained it a put in fresh gas. That doesn't clean the tank. That sediment also works it's way into the lines. Yes, you might see fuel leaks like you said eariler but if the pressure isn't enough the car won't run.

If you keep your jpegs at 1024 x 768 or less, they will upload. Your last three were exactly twice that size.
  6. If you don't plan to actually race the car on a regular basis I would strongly suggest not going to a light flywheel and multi disc clutch. I can tell you from past experience that combo is rather tough for everyday driving.
  7. That would be your coil although mine is large, box shaped, and yellow with a light brown top. Aftermarket Accel supercoil.
  8. A. Wrong wheels:eek: B. Too much money:eek: C. Won't fit her Z:eek: D. My head is shaking!:classic:
  9. Are you referring to the coil and coil wire?
  10. This is from my 78.
  11. Maybe a casting mark?
  12. And different from the style she originally posted, and in England.
  13. sblake01 replied to Corrao's topic in Introductions
Come on, guys! WingZrO's is a 77 and Corrao's is a 78. Period. No 77.5 or any of that kind of stuff. The model years run from August to July. In other words a 77 is 8/76-7/77 and a 78 is 8/77-7/78. Your cars are both registered as the correct model years. That being said, welcome, Corrao, I'm right down the hill from you in the Devore area of San Bernardino.
  14. Over the past five years or so, 'datsun-parts' has also been known as 'ur-gelis', 'bad-mfr', 'absolutely-ghetto', and '2602nv'. I purchased once from him as 'bad-mfr' and without going into detail I'll just say it was a bad experience. Word should be spread about people like him. But as Will says, draw your own conclusions. I just know that I'd never even think of buying anything from him again.
  15. And a valve cover that says in rather large letters.....TURBO.
  16. If that part number is 25230-E4100, I have one and it's yours for the cost of postage. I'll never use it, I don't own a 240.
  17. All the tanks after 8/76 which would be the 77-78 models are the same. 2+2 or 2 seater.
  18. Oh, I give up. Hope you find the wheels you want, Darbji.
  19. Looks like a 75-76 US tank to me. Wonder what it will go for. The original msrp is over $700. According to the microfiche the number he lists, 17201-N4201, is for 12/74-8/76 or, as I thought, 75 and 76 models.
  20. 280z's only had the one mirror, on the drivers side. You can still find those. The metal ones were part of the SAP on the 77 Zzzap and 78 Black Pearl. They were actually available from Nissan at one time.
  21. The actual metal ones from Nissan (99990-00113) would be a pipe dream. But, if by chance you find 2 sets, let me know:)
  22. When Darbji started this thread, some 60+ posts ago, she posted a picture showing 30 spoke/fin rims. Has she changed her mind?
  23. Maybe not most but somewhere well above some.
  24. If you have to explain it after posting it, maybe it's not worth posting in the first place.
  25. If this problem exists on the the car you're considering buying, I'd check and make sure it's actually a bad gasket. Manifold gaskets that are properly mounted generally don't develop leaks. Could be that the studs are already stripped/broken causing the exhaust leak.
