  1. Drained my tank tonight. Last I checked this is not the correct color for gasoline: Also, it doesn't smell like gasoline. I don't know what kind of additives are in this but it's fumed up my house to the point where I am concerned about my children's future life potential.

If anyone has a beat up original that they could donate to the cause I have an engineer waiting in the wings to give me an assessment on getting the parts manufactured.   7. Worked on stripping the floors a little tonight. Not too much because I only had about 30 minutes, but the driver's side isn't as crazy rusted as I thought it was. Still gotta get in there under the seat brace, but I'm thinking I have less metal to cut out than I thought. Still beat up and full of rivet holes, though.

  12. Last night I marked all of the holes in my engine bay that didn't have something screwed into them when I got the car (remember it was half disassembled when it arrived). Next step is to identify which ones can be welded up and which ones will need to stay.

  17. I've just never seen all the Datsun colors in one sheet before. I've seen tons of conversation about Z colors. I've been scrounging around on eBay and found some collections of chips for a lot of years. Ultimately it's just feeding a bad habit of being indecisive.

  22. Things I learned cutting this hole: I need more light. I need a grinder that can work more finely. Maybe my deemed could work. I need better metal files.
  23. That's the one I returned to him with the hole in it. I haven't seen one for under $400 so far. The turbo guys inflated the market pretty bad before they all switched to RB engines and I don't think it has come back down. I have found tons of engines with 79 heads on them for under $100, though, if that's what one wants.
  24. Okay, did the other side. Next step is cutting the car (BUM Bum buuummmmm). This makes me fidgety so I'm putting it off until tomorrow or Saturday night. Something weird I noticed: the space available to cut open for these patches isn't the same on either side. The driver's side has about 1/2 inch more space between the wheel well and the panel in the middle that covers this bulkhead. Its not an issue; just a thing I noticed. Do you guys think it's just a quirk of an old car, or is it intentionally designed in? I think I read somewhere that the drivetrain is not in the center of the car in order to balance the weight of the driver, but then there's the Japanese/British version...
