  1. I think the metal in the mirror area is solid, just pitted. I will neutralize the rust and skim coat that. I don’t mind a small amount of body filler in places. I am not building a concours car. I just want it to look good and last. Heavy bondo tends to separate after a while.
  2. Now to strip my original passenger door and see how bad it is compared to the donor. Wish me luck.
  3. The good news was that the replacement driver door from Jim was almost perfect!
  4. The original driver door was pretty bad too. Lots of welds and dents.
  5. More fun with doors. @zKars provided me with nice “looking” replacement doors for my beat up originals. The first one (passenger side) was a disappointment with a lot of bondo and mashed panel metal.
  6. I used the pvc type floor edge molding cut to size. Worked great.
  7. “Decent doors”... are the issue. Finding anything worth buying is difficult. Another member on here paid hundreds of dollars just for the door skins... new metal that need to be welded on. Might be the way to go these days. Here’s a few pics of my luck with doors.
  8. This side is much better!
  9. It’s in progress. I am modifying the lower shield to adapt to the throttle cable linkage
  10. For sure. This was just a quick mount and check. I have to get the doors stripped still too. The hood looks pretty good with it just sitting on the car.
  11. Should have just bought the fenders off of @zkars .... his we’re already done.
  12. That opens up the question of mounting headlamps etc...
  13. Fender. The factory restamp on the other side is near perfect.
  14. This ought to be a fun panel gap to fix too. Roughly bolted in place but obviously wayyyy out of spec. Looks like a job for the MIG welder.
  15. AZC with TTT LCA’s
  16. Skillard sells stainless tank straps for a reasonable price too. I have those and they are great.
  17. Oops I completely forgot about the extra capacity of the cover.
  18. It was a bone dry CLSD from an 83 so that might be why. I’ll have to go check what I wrote down.
  19. My 76 280 has the silver hose on the original motor too.
  20. My R200 took almost three litres...
  21. I suppose it’s possible that the shafts are somehow bent.... but I would have a hard time understanding how that happened! Try another set and hopefully the problem is gone. I took apart and and reassembled three with no issues at all...
  22. The heat shield goes under the AFM?
  23. This is why I didn't add grease to the open channels during assembly, only at the end when I topped up the grease.
