I would put those rings on a old headlight! Much easy-er to work and the polish machine can't break the part so easy. 😉 (Something that often happens when polishing small parts..)
  2. I once had a calcium battery in my 240z and 300zxtt and they worked for over 10 years! (I kept them under a small battery trickle charger when not used.) Now i have ordinary lead battery's and one is (2018) also already giving up.. ( one time it got very low as the car has a alarmsystem and the charger wasn't on it at that moment, so i guess i was the culprit..oeps..) I'm thinking of getting these calcium battery's again, they stay better when used only few times a year.. And the price is not much more if any..
  3. #1 ..Iirc the speedo comes out from the front so.. but it is do-able.. #2 eh.. no.
  4. If your engine is standard, use BPR6ES sparkplugs and let us see a picture of the plugs after an hours drive.
  5. Why? are you doing 30000km/miles a year? no? then you don't need those i think.. just put in 6 cheap but good original BPR6ES from NGK (Watch out for super cheap copy $^!#..) They are about 3 dollar a piece and are perfect for the L series engines.. Then take a look at those after at least an hour of driving. (Haven't read it all but guess you have a "normal 2753cc engine..) Place some pics of those plugs ! 😉
  6. @240dkw Nice manual! Maybe you could put a copy of that book here on the service manual listing? (Under Resources/knowledge Base in top of this site.) Guess you have to contact Mike about that..
  7. Hihi, eh.. no, they used 2 pins on the back.. they have broken off so now you need to be creative.. 😉
  8. Yes, the fillerneck was/is available at Nissan dealer.. Also on our marketplace Last year, i could buy 3 for 225 euro a piece (I guess they came strait from the usa and shipping and taxes made them expensive) As i don't need one yet.. i didn't buy any.. But i know that my fillerneck does leak a bit when i fill the car to far up.. Oh well it needs a restore anyway.. some day.. Question.. if a 280z fillerneckis 95 bucks.. does that one fit a 240/260? Or can we easely make it fit? Maybe someone has pics of these different necks?
  9. Iirc the cable used for the extension in the 240z antenna is RG59 cable (Not the 58 as this is 50 ohms impedance) This RG59 has the 75 ohms impedance! (I corrected my cabletype in the previous message.) Maybe you can look it up what the impedance should be for the radio antennacable in the paperwork on the radio's used in cars.
  10. You know that Nissan makes them again? just look up the part number and Nissan will deliver a new one.. Most times the tank WILL leak at the inlet as the hard hose is not gonna fit leakfree...
  11. The inner wire is made of massiv copper and breaks much more easely.. You also could use a new cable RG59B/U if i'm not mistaken, it's impedance is/needs to be 75 ohms and you can buy that by the meter.. oeps a foot/arm, leg? you name it.. (Just kidding!!!! sorry had to make this joke 🙊) You can also find the male and female connectors in the electronics "department" and make your own new cable.
  12. Clean the emblem and use a little bit silver paint to repaint the letters. if you use a magnifying glass you will see that it's going to be a nice emblem again.. and easy now it's off! Use a very small brush.. with little paint at the time. Few drops of silicone to put it back. (Take off the door, so you can lay it flat on it's back to let the silicone dry.)
  13. YES! The center core should be under 1 Ohms.. Also the outer should be. As it is copper inside and also the shielding is copper with tin layer on it. There must be no conduction between the inner core and the outer sheath, this must have very high (unmeasurable) resistance.
  14. Yeah, a CD on the Hifi.. sounds much better than any thing like spotify can. If you ask me what's better vinyl or CD.. i go for the CD but it has to be a good recording as there are manny bad CD's. (I got a double CD from tina Turner, and it has a extra single CD in it, that sounds wonderfull) Pictures from a Zachry speaker restoration.. (Black laquer turned out like sh*t.. so need to redo them..) Bass speaker of this Zachry EM24 speaker Box completed.. they are on top of the ReVox speakers.. (Zachry EM24 much sought after 1970's speakers!) These are the best i ever seen/ heard.. they are from the late '80's when quality was made! hahaha... Studer ReVox Symbol MKII Loudspeakers.. (I bought then just as i stopped working at the importer of this brand.. they were the biggest at that time they sold of the brand.) On the left those are just something that i tested.. Magnat speaker..
  15. Patcon recently worked on some. I would first put them in a solvent or diesel or gasoline? something that gets in between the pin and tube.. could take a day or two.. If not free then use some heat on it..
  16. Nice item, In fact it's a dB(m) Meter with a few different scales, i'm only surprised there is no dB mentioned on it? Put it at 1 mtr exactly from your exhaust and you can measure the noise your exhaust makes.. i guess..
  17. Nice, but those tube amps are to expensive in servicing.. they need every xx hours new tubes.. so i went for ReVox many years ago and a few years ago i bought a Hegel H360 ! (First brand is Swiss made and the next one is from Norway) Unbelieveble sound.. (on the right speakers!) On topic, i never had very strange reactions on something i looked for or bought.. but.. Always after i buy something i get that item LOTS of times as adverts, it's SO ANNOYING!! Lately bought myself a expensive phone.. On msn news i got 5! adverts in one block about the one i just bought!! Like mustard after the meal as we say in the Netherlands........ (I think i saw that advert over a 100 times in the week after i bought one.)
  18. Like a Friend once said: Yes, if you want it to be done right, you'll have to do it yourself! About the shims i would buy some small ones (Thin) .. you can easely make 10 thicknesses with 4 different shims! (In fact 15..) (Last year i bought a diff and it's completely apart with new bearings and shim's so i watch and try to learn something here! Normally i don't take apart gearboxes or diffs..)

Turn it over without the ignition on.. until you have oil on the cam. (You can also take some oil out the engine and put it all over the cam.. but that's more work) then.. what Grannyknot said. 👍
  20. Seriously? It's just a extension.. i'm sure if you took a moment you'd know! 👍
  21. If i'm not mistaken.. i got a new orig.set ... seen it somewhere in my basement .. 🙂
  22. Like the chrome on a 1979 280zx bumper! 0,68mm? I had to polish that after a lot (!!) of hammering.. took some afternoons as it is very very hard, high chromium stainless.. But yours came out great!
  23. I guess it's a clearcoat with (experiment it) 10% gold paint in it? What i wanted to say is the inner "4 point star" of the rim isn't original black it's a sort of blue-ish dark grey.. As i'm also restoring 2 sets of these wheels i will follow this topic! I still have to find out the paintnumber of those wheels.. I do have some wheels with the blue-ish grey on them..
  24. 🤣 See #630 the one with the pic of the glass he wants! (SO.. i'm not the only one that doesn't read it all! 😉
  25. I wonder if the Americans say Magnesum to magnesium.. hihi, like they say Aluminum to aluminium? It's in proper english on that sticker.. Btw.. years ago i had some magnesium wheels, they sat on a 240z and i gave them away with the warning that i don't trust old magnesium wheels as they can break much to easy when old..
