  1. I would love to go to that meet and see all you guys and the Z's, but I will be with my girlfriend in SF seeing 'Mama Mia', which I am really excited about. Take a lot pictures and post them up. If any of you see a Fairlady Z please take as many pictures as possible of it(them) as Fairlady Zcars are my thing(your too? all z(s30)cars are my thing). You guys have a blast and drive safely. Carl, I don't want to hear about any dead dear on the wayROFL. Take care, Ben
  2. That is not at all a bad thing. Thanks for the clarification Alan. My view for Watanabe's does not change. Ben
  3. That Kobe Seiko wheel in that sports catalog sure looks like a Watanabe. Darn, so Watanabe's were more like a dealer option similiar to the mags that are on many Z's(mine included)?
  4. I couldn't say it any better Alfa. Hehehe, I have seen that picture. Those are on Yahoo japan. Ben
  5. Pansports are very different looking than Watanabe's. The nicest Panasport's are the 14 by 7J with the zero offset as you have Marc, but Pans and Wats are not from the same pea pod. I am not trying to bad mouth pans here because they are great wheels, I just prefer the look of the Watanabe's and I am a little bit of a purest because the watanabe's were on the Nissan sports option list and I will only put parts on my car that were offered by the factory.
  6. I hear ya on the whole drift craze thing with the 86's. I think it is all because of Initial D. I loved that anime. It is because of boys like me that they have that reputation. Everytime I see one I think, 86 panda. hahahaha. They are great for autoX I hear. My wheels are 14 by 5.5j. On the 75' 280 the steel wheels became 5.5j wide opposed to the earlier 5j so they could use the 195 tires safely. The watanabe site says that 7j with a +3 is optimal, but I have seen 7.5j under the wheel well of a z. It all depends on the tire width and offset of the wheel. 7j with a -9mm offset wrapped in 195s would be the lowest offset and the widest wheel I would go with just to be on the safe side. Does anyone know the exact numbers of how wide and what offset is the maximum to keep the tyres under with out flaring? Ben

  8. They are very nice, and the 7j ones are the exact offset I would want if I were to buy a set. I think they would look good on my car too, but I am holding off on wheels at least till the end of the summer. 26th, those wheels look good too. Were those on ebay not too long ago? I like that style, but I too prefer the spokes inside the rim. This style in this auction were offered on the Datsun competition parts list. However, I am not sure what sizes were offfered or what year Nissan starting offering Watanabe's on their sports parts list. I do know that the only diameter size for the Watanabe's on the list were available in 14". Anyways, it looks like these wheels will be going on a AE86. Those are quite neat cars too. I like the 4age powered ones with wats. Very nice. Are you into 86's Alfa? Regards, Ben
  9. Here you guys go. If I could get these I would have a really hard time passing them up. Here is a nice set of watanabe's that will fit a Z very well. I want to see one of you guys buy them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470659981
  10. What is the emblem in the middle of the wheel? Is it of checkered flags? These are the only wheels I can think of that look remotely like revolutions.
  11. I don't know a whole lot about Samurai Z's, but they made many Z's(not sure of the exact number). They were for the UK Z like what Scarab was for the US Z back in the 70's. They would take a normal Z and soup it up with performance parts according to the customers specifications. They are not saying that they found Big Sam. Big Sam is found and doing well. Big Sam happens to be a very successful circuit racer in the UK that is a Super Samurai Z. The picture of the restored engine bay is of the Big Sam car. I hope this helps. Ben
  12. Hmmm, are they 4 spoke wheels like the Revolution's?
  13. Okay, you twisted my arm. I just bought the microfiche CD. I have been thinking about getting one for a while. I have the 260z service manual and that has been a godsend, so I am thinking that with all the ranting and raving about this CD I will be very happy that I bought it. Hey, if no one has bought it yet, buy it now! It is still half off. hehehehe. Thanks for twisting my arm Alan. Ben
  14. That is awesome. What color are you going to paint the beast?:devious: What do you think of the rebello engine? I bet it kicks major a$$.
  15. Hi Gary, stay positive. I wish the best for your daughter on a speedy and successful recovery. Ben
  16. Those are nice Zeds. You must be very proud of the low vin. Congradulations on the restoration because your car looks great. That goes for your friend's too. Ben
  17. Thanks Carl, I will hopefully take you up on that offer. It won't be for a while though. Prolly in the summer is when I will tackle that project. How is your car looking these days Carl?

Hey Gav, didn't the KPGC10 come from the factory with overfenders only on the rear fenders? I think you could get the front overfenders for the sport option though. If only I had the factory sports option lists for these cars. That bluebird is very nice. They are much like a 510, but I think they are a little sleeker with the cool tail light configuration. Ben
  19. Don't worry, the gas filter is changed. I will have to do some inspecting of the lines and the tank like you said Carl.
  20. If it were my car I would paint it the original orange. It is a great color for a Z. The other colors talked about would look great, but there is always a certain satisfaction by being able to say that you have the original paint color. If you were to paint it a different color red would look awesome, but 920 gold would look better. -Ben
  21. The mechanic took the fuel filter out and started tapping it on the concrete. Rust and a whole bunch of sediment started to come out. This has happened before about 2years ago, but the tank was blasted out. Okay, so it is a no go on the ebay fuel pump. I am pretty sure you are right about the mech. and elec. fuel pump working in circuit on late 73-74 Z's greyghost, but I am convinced that the mech. fuel pump is one of the problems because he took it off and then put it back on and the car idles lower than before. I know I can change the idle on the carbs to raise it, but I want to fix what is wrong. I am at school, so I don't have my car here or my service manual, but in a few weeks I am going to go back home and I will look at the car. Hmmm, now I am utterly confused about the fuel system. If the mech. pump is bad, the elec. one will be running and everything will be fine. Hmm, I should be asking these questions when I am with my Z. Okay, I must go. Hopefully I can fix all this myself with the knowledge that everyone has given me. I'll keep you guys posted. Thank you, Ben
  22. Thank you Keith. I guess I will get a new fuel pump. Here is one that is on ebay. Does anyone know if this an oem fuel pump? Do you think it is a good fuel pump? Is it a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33555&item=2469468841 Thank you, Ben
  23. Hello everyone, I changed the gas filter and the car is running better without the no power problem. Thanks 2manyzs. However, my mechanic said that I should get a new fuel pump because the diaphragm is letting in some air. He said that it is an easy job since my car has a mechanical fuel pump. Would this solve the problem with my car all of a sudden idleing too low? Should I get a new fuel pump? Is it easy to install? There is also another problem with my car. The engine is dieseling. I looked at previous threads and I could not seem to pin point what it could be. My car is definately not idling to high, it just had a tuneup so that cancels out a lot, but I remember something about my intake not being sealed. Does this ring a bell to anyone? I just want everyone to know that I am a newbie to fixing engines. I am willing to learn and if you could be patient with me I would really appreciate it. I don't want to have to go to the mechanic every time my car needs something. Thanks in advance, Ben
