That Z432-R is beautiful. I especially like the Kobe Seiko Works rally wheels. They look like the 7j wide ones too. I have seen a model of this car before offered by Fujimi. Very nice Kats, thank you for the photos. I am going to add these pics of the car and the mustache bars to my archive. I look forward to seeing you and your car at the Z convention this year too. Take care for now, Ben

Custom Shift knob, Part 2 (pics)
Those look beautiful. I personally like the 3rd shift knob. It would be neat if you made one that was exactly like the original and used the chrome fitting and put the 4-speed template on top. Then you would just have to figure out how to make the steering wheel with a burle wood handle. Anyways, those are really beautiful. -Ben

Buzzing noise comming from the battery
I have been religously cleaning my engine bay today, but I was trying to make sure that no water or cleaning solution got near the battery and its associated wires. Maybe it has always been there, but the battery is making this very quite buzzing sound. Does anyone know what this phenomenon is? The battery is only 3 years old, and there is plenty of juice going through the wires. Hmm, I have noticed a slight increase in amps according to the gauge. What is up with my battery? Thank you in advance, Ben

Targa Tasmania
I knew that was an s800. Thanks for the picture Lachlan. To bad it flipped, but it is a good thing it was a hardtop. These rallies look like a lot of fun. Some one should take their Zed on the Pikes Peak rally in Colorado. That would be nuts. Ben

Social Poll...
I was born in San Franciso, but I have lived in Fremont since I was 5 years old. Now I live in Stockton where I attend University. It is hot and humid here right now. I am going back to my parents house this weekend. It is still hot in Fremont because we live by the hills, but at night the temperature is perfect in the summer; not too warm and not too cool. I still drive to San Francisco about 1-2 times a month because it is a great city. The food, the ocean, the sites, the shows; suberb. Ben

Northern Cali meet: yes another one!!
Hello Zlishous, I don't know when and where the meet will be. We are still waiting for a reply from Craig. If it works out, this meet will probably be on the coast and around Santa Cruz. Hopefully this weekend we will have all the details. Hey Craig, have you talked to the guy at Z zone? That would be cool if we had a bbq there; I want to see those rental Z's. I agree with you Zlishous, Point Reyes is nice. A drive along highway one would make a nice drive. I am sure that we will keep this up and take a drive there. So who is interested in having a meet? 280z, blitzkraig, zlishous, ares240z, and myself? Anyone else? Ben:classic:

Best in Show
There is a lot of work that goes into building a completely stock Z as well as a modified Z as we all know, but it seems that the more flashy modified Z will get the majority vote over the oem Z that the owner/builder put just as much scrupulous time into to complete. I have not seen many pictures of this car, but what I have seen is top notch and I am not saying that there should be a recount or that this car does not deserve the award for best of show. It is just not my style. Next time I will keep my opinions to myself regarding my taste in style. I really don't mean to offend anyone by this. -Ben(just ranting)

Targa Tasmania
Those poor cars. They look like they have been badly abused. Was that over turned white car an old Toyota S800? Is that the right name? The little 2 cylinder roadster is the car I am thinking of. Ben

The Z Car's Nemesis?
They were shaking in their pants.... No no don't over take me again Mr. Zcar.*earth to Ben* Rivals of the Z...hmm... Back in the day a ton of sports cars were the Z's rival. Nowadays, I don't see other cars as rivals, but as other classic cars. I am thinking of the tr6's, early 911's... I can't think of anymore, but there are a ton more. Classic cars are great:love: . Best in Show
Sorry, this car has obviously had a lot of time and care taken into it and I totally respect that. Congradulations to the owner/builder, but it sure would be nice to see a stocker win best of show.

Japanese Parts Suppliers
Hello, a lot of the parts will transfer from right hand drive to left hand drive, but exhausts are what you have to watch out for. A lot of exhaust systems for RHD cars will not work with the LHD cars without modifications. I agree with you, the Japanese parts are very cool. RS Start has a lot of parts for the S20 engine, so unless you have one they are not going to fit on your L-series. You should list the parts that you are thinking of getting for your car and more members of the forum and I can give you a little better idea of what will and won't work on your car. I can tell you that almost all the parts are interchangeable though, so you can have one JDM LHD S30. Take care and good luck on the parts, Ben

1976 Z????'s
A radio is an option in the STI. They are both beautiful. My neighbor has a blue STI and it looks great. I am a little disgusted with the rice rocket tail pipe and the fog lights he put on it, but it still a nice car. The evo has a certain look of all business that I like because to me it looks like a fighter jet; if a fighter jet was a car that is. However, the Z is a better choice. Enjoy it. :classic:

1976 Z????'s
I am pretty sure it was an evo VIII, also known as the evo 8. We never got another evo on these shores.
-
1976 Z????'s
Oh no, why did you sell an evo 8. That is sacrilege. I would love to drive an evo 8. If I were to buy a new car it would be hard to choose between an evo mr and a sti. They are both great cars. Yes, I am a WRC nut. Good luck with souping up the 76. Get a tune up like Victor said, then change the automatic to a 5 speed.

Northern Cali meet: yes another one!!
This coming weekend is really bad for me due to finals, but the weekend after that or any other weekend is fine with me. Saturday or Sunday is fine on those weekends too. -Ben

caravan to Z Convention in Socal
Stephen, are you planning to put your car in the show? If you are we should park next to each other. There could be a CZC area. I would have liked to go to MSA as well, but I had other obligations so I am planning to go to this show. I know there are going to be more people going to the Z convention? Don't be shy. Is anyone interested in having a 240z.org area where we would park next to each other? I hope to talk to you guys soon. -Ben:classic:

Yeah, I asked Kats if any Japanese owners were going to bring a ZG or 432. He said no. If there was going to be a 432-r I would cry out joy. hehehhe. This fascination of Zcars has become an obsession thanks to 240z.org. I am planning to go to the Z convention and I am very excited to be able to see Kats's car, meet him, and see other beautiful S30 cars. If I see any Fairlady Z's I am going to take extensive pictures, so be ready 2manyZ's. -Ben:classic:

RS-Watanabe / Speed Star Wheels Question.
You have gotton me interested. This link will help you some, but it will not fully answer your question to the association of SSR and R.S. Watanabe. If I find anything else I will post it. However, I am quite busy studying for finals. You can see what I do on my break. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9235&highlight=watanabe Take care, Ben

RS-Watanabe / Speed Star Wheels Question.
I am sure there are people that know more about this than I do, but I think there was a time when Watanabe was owned by Speed Star Racing and that is why it says that on your wheels. I think all of the rs8 style wheels, like the three piece ones that you own kyteler, are the ones made by ssr, but they are technically still Watanabe's. Now watanabe is not owned by SSR, but when these particular wheels were made I think it was because Watanabe had a financial chrisis and SSR owned them. I thought I read this somewhere. I could be totally wrong. Kyteler, go to the wheel section and look up watanabe. I think that is where I am getting this information. I think you should get another source about this topic, but I am sure this information is on the forum somewhere. Ben

67' 2000 roadster
The more I see these, the more I like them. With a restoration, this one would be awesome. Which roadster came with the dual Solex carbs instead of the SU's? I thought it was a 2000 roadster, but I have never seen a picture of a car with them. How rare are the short windscreen cars? How rare is a 67' 2000 roadster. I hope this stirs up some interest. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6188&item=2476442796&rd=1 -Ben:classic:

Northern Cali meet: yes another one!!
That sounds really cool, but, hmmmm. What about the threat of non-s30 Z's. I know I sound like a Z Hitler. What do you guys think? Drakes beach or no Drakes beach? Santa Cruz still sounds cool to me, but I am open for suggestions. -Ben
