  1. I wonder if it has the trick cam that sets them lower after wiping that all the Nissan ones did but broke.
  2. Thanks I'll read that one. It's timely because I'm in the process of removing mine and refurb'ing. I don't think it's ever been off.
  3. Thanks guys! So it looks like the singe rib is the earliest version. They also moved the lowest part of the sump more to the center on the later ones. I have that kind. Was the braised panel factory or a aftermarket fix for cracks? These cars seem to have endless differences.
  4. In the same vein as the discussion, were there different oil pans on early cars? Mine has some ribs on the lowest section and the plug is on the right side. According to an eBay seller they were only available in that configuration for the first year and a half. Is he full of it or is that true?
  5. Can you check the 240 for the antenna unit?(unlikely) I only have various parts for mine.
  6. I bought this a few years ago and it’s been good in bad weather and snow. It got a few holes because of me using a shovel to get snow off and they sent me a 3x3’ patch. https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/product/custom-noah-car-cover.C-CCNH
  7. That one actually looks like a great idea. No modifications and lots of extra storage.
  8. Yea mines way better too. Maybe it needs too much work. we still can’t see underneath and that could be really bad.
  9. It does need a lot of work but the price is reasonable for a low number model as of this reporting. https://www.ebay.com/itm/303079719646?ul_noapp=true
  10. That looks amazing. How'd you measure the contour? Also I was thinking of making the OD a little smaller and threading it.
  11. great pics and info. That's not very reassuring to save parts. I'm going to try to press out the plastic. I also am planning on using it as a template to make a replacement out of aluminum or stainless.
  12. Anyone know how to remove the chromed plastic ring from an old knob without breaking it? I have a spare and want to refurb it. There replacement Nissan ones aren't the same shape as the originals.
  13. Iv'e been watching first season (1977 I think) CHiP's episodes on Amazon and there's so many awesome cars on the freeways and general traffic. So far Iv'e seen at least five S30's. One thing I thought was funny was that gasoline stations had prices of 57 cents per gallon. I remember when my dad was furious when it hit $1.00.
  14. keep pestering him. it looks great. what's the VIN?
  15. weird, all my dabs are rust colored?
  16. I say ol chap, nice set of wings you have there
  17. That makes no sense except maybe the import fees are too high.
  18. So I got the set from the bay seller and they are very good. they are the correct dimensions and are made of ABS. My only gripe is that the screws supplied are very tight and I think the ID of the parts is a little small. I used some Elmer's Dry lube on them and they are a little easier. The new screws are smalIer diameter than stock. I definitely recommend these for restoring light buckets. Another interesting change that I found and never read about before from series one to later versions of the lights is the recessed mounting locations of these nuts. On my original ones there's a stamped area with serrations so they don't spin. On later buckets I have, it's a more pronounced full rectangular stamping. Also on the early buckets there's no holes for the locating nibs on the new gaskets. I drilled 4mm holes so the gaskets fit. Another "why would they do that" find.
  19. My original stock unit is a mono Hitachi AM with signal seek.
  20. Next I need to find the rubber grommets for where the wires go through the back. Zcardepot has them for $36.50 but that seems hugely expensive. https://zcardepot.com/products/headlight-bucket-wire-seal-rubber-pair-240z-260z-280z
  21. Mine had transparent caps over the ends so they were enclosed too. The material had hardened over time and I had to break/cut them off. The shape of the end of the nut is barbed so a cap or improvised tubing will work.
  22. When I looked at car parts manual for the part breakdown it just listed the whole bucket as “ASSY-BODY HEAD LAMP” with no separate call out for the plastic nuts.
  23. Yes I looked there but they don’t have it
  24. So I ordered them from the eBay seller. He says they are made from ABS. We’ll see how they work.
