  1. Series II Also, it's VIN number suggests a manufacture date of ~ June/71
  2. Add the steering wheel to the list.
  3. HI, Just measured my Series I: The metal base is positioned 0.5" vertically below the ss metal window trim, and 27.25" anterior to the rear lip of the door skin horizontally. Hope this helps George
  4. "This is what comes up when you search Motor Master & ATV700 & Kawasaki & Universal Joint. Doesn't look like what's on my steering shaft??" Call, 'Joe' @ 520-8884-0217 He will answer your questions and address your concerns accordingly. George
  5. "I'm still hoping for something not inside the rack itself. Inner tie rod ends or steering coupler would be easier to find than a whole rack. U-joints from what I've heard would be no treat to find though... Let's hope that's not it either." Actually, the U-joints are not too difficult to source. Google: Motor Master & ATV700 & Kawasaki & Universal Joint Shop around as the price varies significantly George
  6. "As technology marches on I can envision a day in the near future when a kid will see a key and ask “what is that shiny thing for?” Much like how kids today have their minds blown when they learn what a cassette tape is and all the nuances that came along with using them." A few months ago, while showing my Series 1 at a local event, I heard a six or seven year old child ask his mother what the window crank on the driver's door was for. My son-in-law has a BRZ and he's as proud of it as I am of my Z, now 43 years later. Enjoyed your subjective comparisons....thanks for sharing George
  7. By way of an example, I ruined the paint finish on a brand new Yamaha snowmobile covered with a brand new Yamaha custom cover while trailering it....not happy!!
  8. I think it's a Series II, but what to heck....She's a beauty!!
  9. Welcome, and congratulations on your purchase of a one owner. Is it a '72? Would be nice to see more pictures and read the history of your Z.
  10. Welcome....Looks to me like a Series II so could be a later '71, a '72 or a '73.
  11. Hi, Please check this out....subjectively, simple technique with a great looking/very durable result: Search: Steering Wheel Refurbishment http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/tech-pubs-howto/51222-steering-wheel-refurbishment.html Cheers, George
  12. Yep!! Great find...will enjoy your progress updates Cheers, George
  13. Welcome and congratulations...You got yourself a real beauty!!
  14. The same for Canada...eh!! George
  15. Hi Matt, Good question...The 1971 Series 1 owners manual (page 24) recommends '95 and higher'. From that it would appear the higher, the better, and that of course depends on local availability. So, adjust the timing (knocking??)accordingly. Cheers, George
  16. Hi Chris, The u-joints are for the steering shaft and sourced in the States. Cheers, George
  17. Hi, Just received my u-joint from 'Joe' at Simmons...great service BUT a killer delivery charge. The little joint cost $ 48.44 with tax and ground shipping A little online looking around and I found the exact same joint for $22 (ALL IN)!!. For those in need the joint is made by Motor Master and the specific unit is: Kawasaki ATV700 Cheers, George
  18. Happy 43rd Anniversary!! Had the Z out for a run to celebrate. What was most remarkable was that there were no comments/complaints about exhaust fumes from my wife...no smelly clothes and/or burning eyes...ALL GONE...Period!! Why the disappearance? It has to be a secondary benefit from refurbishing the rear tail lights which was carried out over the past winter. Specifically, better sealing around the light fixtures. Cheers, George
  19. Hi, For those who would like to soak up a little more Z history and glory, there is a very nice write up in the Summer edition of Hagerty magazine. Cheers, George
  20. More congratulations!! This afternoon I was quizzed (cross examined) by a lawyer about, 'What are you doing these days?'. I then asked him, 'what do you mean?' To this he asked the same question again. Without hesitation I responded, 'Gordon, I do what I please, when I please.' And with that, Dan, I had a very difficult time trying to contain a smirk. Enjoy!! Cheers, George
  21. I'll second that and add that his very helpful when it comes to choosing H4 bulbs. George
  22. I purchased one from this chap and am 100% satisfied with both his product and shipping. Cheers, George
  23. Similar temps here (north west New Brunswick) and I've been using a similar heater for my 24'x24' garage which was built in 2002. If you haven't already, consider making/installing an insulated partition to supplement your garage door even if it's insulated. I made one with R20 foam sandwiched with 1/4" plywood. Come spring I store it off the ground mounted on an exterior garage wall. While I can't remember what the materials cost, I'm sure it's paid for itself in energy savings, not to mention the comfort of 20C. Cheers, George
  24. Going down to -10 F here tonight while parts east of here along the Atlantic coast are getting 12" of snow. On the bright side...the days are getting longer!!
