  1. Not at all, I had just finished splicing the new harness in when I read your post.
  2. 240-280z would have made a great convertible, you can see from the OP's car that the proportions would work well. So many convertibles just look butt ugly to me. This car would be a fun project to finish up.
  3. Just a little joke.
  4. No, it was some Passat with an inline 4 transverse engine, it took two cars to make up my harness, I sniped the 4th connector and lead so I had 2 sets of 3 plugs. There is also 3-4 other single connectors on the Passat that match the other old ones on the 280z. Not absolutely sure but could be 1996-2006
  5. Strangely enough when I disassembled the master cylinder and cleaned out all the sludge/crap, the walls of the bore looked pretty good, but I'll lobe it on to the junk heap, a new M/C is only $90 so hard to argue with that. I can just imagine what the wheel cylinders and clutch slave are going to look like ?
  6. I got into the Brake Master, booster and proportioning valves today, hope you are not eating while reading this, pretty sure I'm the first one to remove the brake master. Inside the proportioning valve, how does this crap get in a sealed system?

Looks good, how does the dehumidifier drain the water it extracts?
  8. Maybe I'm just a cynical old F--- but when I see that I assume he knows the 280z is more desirable than the ZX and is deliberately mislableing in hopes of getting more newbies out to see the car. No offence intended to you ZX guys.
  9. Nicely Done. Elegant solution just be sure to test fit the fender over it before welding the repair, there are a few places where the clearance is fairly tight between those two pieces.
  10. Thanks Chas, no major problems yet, it's a nice change. Before Aug. 77, that's good to know, PO removed the B pillar ID plate for painting and lost it. As far as I know there is no way to replicate it, Banzai Motorworks only produces the door tags up to /73. You know the car was built before Aug. because of some detail you are seeing?

Haven't touched the stuff in 4 yrs so no excuses there but yes holding the can farther out would probably do the trick.

Gottcha, I can never get any consistency with textured paint, it always bunches up on me. Good work.

Have you ever drive one? Antique British handling, steering and brakes with too much power for the aerodynamics. Fun in a way but you have to stay really sharp.

What did you use for the top coat, SEM Landau?
  16. Good idea ZH but I had them spliced in by the time I read your post. Getting some surface finishing done, console was lightly sanded with 240 grit a 2 coats of SEM Landau black, All of the bumper rubber looks pretty sad, can't tell if a PO painted them at some point or that is just age but sanded all the rubber with 240 grit them burnished with the 3M Grey scuff pads then a couple of coats of Auto Glim tire dressing, This is a spare valve cover that will go on the 280z, wet blasted, a coat of GIBBS oil.
  17. That sure looks like the right one, I have the same set up and I remember having to grind off a bit of those inside tabs on the caliper that are right next to the disc. I think it was a little less than 1mm and only on one side.

Not all of them, I can't remember the whole story but I think those rubber end pieces were more to do with protecting pedestrians than the paint.
  19. "No lowball offers, if we do not get a reasonable trade or offer we will place it on Bring a trailer.com. " The guys on BaT will eat this for lunch.
  20. That restrictor is on the fuel tank line about 2" in from the canister.

Yes, but the smell of rich Corinthian leather. Yeah he's just fishing, hoping to catch a Saudi prince with deep pockets. But I would take it for a spin, lots of hard work in that car.
