  1. I see, thanks. Sorry to be a pain but does anyone know who was the first woman to fly around the earth? Might as well learn something new today. Cheers
  2. Muahahahaha. Good one Carl. They are all funny but I like this one the best even though I'm not religious. I think that's why I find it funny. *shrugs* Who's the lady in number 4? Just curious.
  3. There's no such thing as going off topic in one of my threads cause I don't really care. I'm conditioned to it from my other forum. They have an attention span of two posts per thread. One minute you're talking about the brakes and the next we are discussing where pocket fluff comes from. Go figure. Btw, here is a link that you might find usefull if you are searching for an R31 diff. http://www.r31skylineclub.com/
  4. Wow, I wouldn't dare begin something like that. Good on him for taking on the long trek. I've left a message for him.
  5. His name is Ian Munro. He's been looking for a Z for a short while I believe.

  10. I'll be your photographer. I'll bring my camera and post some pics of the flying bits and pieces.
  11. Lachlan, I've got a Toyota Camry '91 as daily. Inexpensive to run and gets me around. I was going to drive that to QLD the other week but found out that water was mixing with the oil so I had to borrow my fathers car and he was nice enough to lend it to me. Chris, the rear brakes are SAAB and fronts are off a Volvo. Just returned from the mechanics and he doesn't think the rears are SAAB but rather from a Ford. *shrugs* I'll have a chat to the previous owner to clear things up I guess. Brett, I won't have it registered by then but I might come along to cheer you on. I'm on holidays all next week so I'm 90% there.
  12. Thanks one and all. I'm really happy with my purchase although one thing is bothering me. It's got some strass fractures in the paint around the ends of the pillars. Is this anything to worry about? The engine is solidly mounted which I'll be changing soon. Did this play a part in cracking the paint? Steve, you should never bet against your wife:finger: Not sure if I'll be driving up to Newcastle anytime soon but if I do I'll definately give you a yell. Besides, I owe you a beer or two for all the advice you've given me over the last few months. Carl, you would not believe how much HP tax I've paid in the last couple of years. Well, it's not from repeated offences but rather from one week of hell. Anyway, that's another story for another day. Geoff, the stock Z still has a special place in my heart and if my wallet was fatter I'd never let go of the other car. The wheels are 18's and I will bring the car to the next meeting providing it is registered. You just never know what can happen when trying to engineer a car. My other car went interstate unfortunately. It'll be driven to Melbourne by the new owner sometime next week I believe. Say hi to Ben for me please. We don't get to see each other often enough other than on the Skyline boards. 327zztopless. Welcome to the boards Ian. I'm sure you'll find this place is one of the most friendliest on the net. To answer some of your questions, the wheels are Simmons, the engine is a 350 chev, carb is a double pumper 650(? i foget exactly), and I don't have qtr times yet. The car is really set up for track so there is no use trying to get qtr mile times. It'll be an ugly result with those low profiles. The rear brakes are SAAB and fronts are Volvo. I'll have more detail when the previous owner mails out all the stuff to me. Keith, we must have the same taste because I really do hate those mirrors and it'll be one of the first things to go. Gavin, maybe you should come up to Sydney then. :devious: Basically the only original thing in the car is the shell and chassis so to avoid putting anyone to sleep I'll only give you a quick summary. Custom 70L fuel tank fitted where the spare tyre goes, Koni adjustable coil overs, 255 rubber on the back and 225 on the front with some neg camber, custom mounts and crossmembers, R200 diff, supra 5 speed, mildly worked 350 chev 50thou overbore running 10.8 compression so it's thirsty for octane booster. Compression test was done a couple of weeks ago and all cylinders came up 195-200. Maybe not practical for the street but onc drive or two a week is ok I think. Aaargh, sorry to rant on like that guys but... ...you know how it is. Kid in a candy store and all that.
  13. As some of you already know I've been looking at a V8 240Z from QLD. Last week around this time I purchased the car and had it shipped down. It finally arrived today and I'm exstatic. The car is more than I expected and also less then I expected (if that makes sense). What I mean is, it is an excellent car but needs a little bit of cosmetic work to get it to it's former glory of Z Nationals concours winning state. It's got stone chips and chipped interior, loose carpet, no carpet in some parts, dud handbrake and wipers etc etc The power is all there and the potential for more is within easy reach. Just apply money. It'll be a while before I can get some work done to it but there's more than enough for me now. Anyway, I'll stop rambling and post a few pics.
  14. How many jumps have you made? I really got into skydiving a while back and got half of my license but unfortunately I hit a financial brick wall. That and the fact that two people died within minutes at my drop zone prevented me from getting my license. It was a sacrifice I made with much regret but to please a worried mother I'd do anything. Prior to getting a Z I was also looking for a '67 -'68 Fastback but realised it's not finanacially possible at this stage. One day though I will own my dream car the Shelby GT500. I fell in love with it as a young boy watching movies like Bullit. Growing up I realised how far that dream is but we all need to aim high. There are currently 3 GT500's in Australia that I know of and one of them has just sold recently. Have you owned any Mustangs?
  15. Hi Nathan, welcome to the boards mate. Did you happen to go to the Z Nationals last weekend. There were some nice cars there and you could have learned a bit from some of the veterans. This board has really helpful people too so you've come to the right place. If you are willing to travel check out the link in my sig. I've just put my car up for sale and it matches your criteria perfectly. Goodluck all the same.
  16. Glad you finally decided to join the boards. Sorry to hear about your bad luck last week and don't start thinking that orange '72's are cursed. It's just joss. btw, I'm selling my '72 orange Z. You interested.:cheeky:
  17. Definately post pics. You can hold your own smash em derby. Don't know how well the authoroties will take that but if it's on a paddock then it'll most likely be private property so... ...have fun:classic:
  18. hmm, that's something I didn't think of. We'll just add that to the list. Cheers
  19. That sounds like a hell-of-a-lot-of-fun! I propose we chip in $50 each and buy a run down car to practise this 'key-banger' method. Anyone?:cheeky:
  20. Shhh! I'm not Greek though, I'm Macedonian.
  21. Ben, I don't blame you. I know lots of Georges from Greece. My real name btw is Goce Miskovski. Goce is a short version of George and I used my real name up until the end of high school but upon entering the service industry (ie Woolworths ) I found it easier with George so I've stuck with it. I just don't have to repeat my name a few times this way. In high school some teachers before they got to know me used to pronounce it Goat, Ghost, Grace etc.
