  1. Ben, yes the Safari gold car has some modifications such a 5 speed transmission, and a dual exhaust system etc. The owner was not happy about the finish of the car when he saw it in Japan, then he sent the car to a restoration shop to have fully restoration all over again . The auction date is Friday 12th , so it is coming soon. Kats
  2. Hello Ben !!! Long Long time no see, how are you doing? I hope you are enjoying your Z, it was 2004 when we first met at the junction in Long Beach ! How is your 260Z doing ? Kats
  3. Thank you Blue, I am now reading and learning which you provided. I want to know what the ignition system is, looks like it is interesting but I have to study hard. One question, you did wonderful work of tach swapping, Is the hybrid tach used for a STD ignition with a STD distributor in your 240Z? Or if you use it , is it mandatory to use with an electric ignitor with an electric distributor in your 240Z ? Kats
  4. Thank you Blue !! I did not know it is able to swap, what a wonderful solution . Am I the only one who did not know this here ? I have never heard of this in Japan, even some Z shop is telling it is almost impossible to make a replica , not only mechanical but also 10000 face. Or if it can be , you have to pay big money. Internal issues are cleared, then if you have some good painter for the 10000 face, you can get a Z432 tach easily. Some questions, #1 when did S30s have voltage type tach ? Was it related to the change that they became to have a transistor ignition system ? #2 In this swap, the 280Z tach is really capable to bring its needle up to 10000 rpm ? I am just a skeptical person little bit, because I do not have any electronic/mechanical knowledge. Kats
  5. Tachometer comparison, Left : Z432 , Right : L - series This Z432 tach is one of the most hardest thing to come by in working condition ( except works racing tach ) like an "Assy - air cleaner" whole set up. Because these parts does not share with Skyline GTR not other S30s . Z432 tach has only one yellow wire , this is a voltage type , L-series has two white wire, this is an electric current type, am I correct ? Kats
  6. Thanks Alan, that is what I am worried about too, so far it looks sufficient about "buffer " for the engine movement . But it is just testing , to prove my hypothesis , I have to wait until I actually put the S20 in the LHD 240Z. Kats
  7. I checked it today , I now have confidence in that , I can make a "PLS30" without modification of the exhaust manifold. Just need a little modification of the throttle linkage . Please see the pictures, I placed a stick in a position of the LHD steering mechanism. I see the stick is free from any other parts, it does not touch anything. Kats
  8. Thanks Chris and Blue, no , the cases is someone's property, I just saved pictures in my laptop. Seeing the Fairlady parts catalog , pre-drilled cases made a debut at the same time when Fairlady-240Z-L (HS30) went on sale. HS30 has lamp covers as a STD equipment . Fairlady-240Z (HS30S ) does not. Fairlady-240ZG (HS30H ) has covers G-nose version as you already know. Kats
  9. Thanks Carl, it was 7 years ago you added note on my sketch. Now I tend to think like this, " NEW STYLE" is earlier than "OLD STYLE" , after seeing and reading all of our sources. NEW STYLE will be E4100/E4126, OLD STYLE will be E8726. As I said before, people in Japan believe OLD STYLE was a ploblem of cracking lens, so Nissan changed NEW STYLE to prevent cracking. But I think it would not be correct, Nissan might made NEW STYLE first, then people had a problem of accumurating moisture inside of lens. Nissan might took action to prevent moisture coming in the lens, so they changed screw position. Attached picture assists my guess, please see the part number " E8731" and this head lamp case has pre-drilled OLD STYLE screw position. We know E87xx is later number than E4xxx. If OLD STYLE screw position is earlier , then why this head lamp case has E8731 ? And also why NEW STYLE cover / trim ring has E4126 ? What do you think of it ? Or are we already clear of this issue ? Kats
  10. WASO type and VOSS type These are both for the US and CANADA as you can see they have a switch for warning buzzer. And these are both early type. According to the service bulletins, VOSS type is applied from the beggining , even so, the service manual both (Japan and HLS30) shows WASO type. I see some S30 cars have this WASO type, big cylinder and long key. SP/SR or other model used WASO, so S30 might have mixed up in early days. I chechked Safari winner car number 11 has WASO type. And the key is very mint condition ,probably they only ran a few years in its life. Kats
  11. Head light case, right side is light, left side is heavy . If you look carefully around stud bolt basement, reinforcement is quite different. I think less meat around the stud bolt basement indicates "early" . I found this during the restoration, did left side "hevy " case join later because of an accident? Or is this normal i.e. left is heavy and right is light. How about your head light case ? Kats
  12. Difference between early and late, The early seat back has a lot of meat , they become thin later. And design of center part is different. Kats
  13. I have a picture of HLS30-00630, and -03924. Kats
  14. Thanks Alan, this car is HLS30-31541. Our club member's car. Kats
  15. I will post something rare, this is a bumper over rider which Mr.Matsuo gave me . You can see the rubber nipple, and the most interesting thing is the front face is wider than the later one which is bolted to secure the rubber to the over rider. I think the rubber nipple indicates earliest part, what do you think of it? Do you see what I am talking about in the picture which was taken in the test drive in the US in late 1969 ? kats
  16. Today I could not resist putting a metal fan. I will let it operate until replacing a water pump , I am thinking I will need to do it with in a few years. Kats
  17. Oh I miss this red car, I saw this car in person in 1997 at Auto garage Motoyama .( HLS30-00630) I talked a manager a several years ago , he said this car went to a car fanatic with 5 Ferraris , with very discounted price like a half of its original purchase ( we have heard it was 650 0000 JPY at the auction in the US.) Where is this car now ? And where are the rest of them in Japan ? One thing I can tell is most of Vintage Z s do not want to go out, seem to me they want to stay inside. Kats
  18. Chris, I have some question. What is the first delivered car of this program ? I red your book again and it says first car is " 1970 silver car" . And please see the attached picture, this is a magazine "J's tipo " reported Vitage Z , it says " this is the first delivered car which was supposed to belong to a celebrity but cancelled , then Mr. Hirano took it with two more Vintage Zs " If this magazine is correct, is this the car which I saw and reported to the community back in the day ? I am talking about HLS30-13018 Kats
  19. Hi JSM , Friday Jan 12th 2018 is the auction day. I am going to be there to see the auction. kats
  20. Hi Dennis, I saw some Vintage Zs have this pocket , this is a very rare item I think. It might be very limited application regards of the destination where no need a radio . Even a basic model Fairlady-Z ( S30-S, std ) equipped with a radio , however it does not have an auto tuning nor auto antenna. The silver car has a replica face plate , sadly seeing no buttons . The pocket is much cooler I think. Kats
  21. Chris , pictures please ! I did not know the yellow car. The silver , maybe . Also I did not know the key chain Jerry ! Kats
  22. Hi everyone, thank you for all the input , I ran out of like buttons! Did you read the description made by the auction organizer ? These Zs were bought by a gentleman ( we know the man is an owner of a car tuning and racing company ) who bought three Vintage Zs at the same time including the first car of this program. The yellow car had a plan to be replaced by a RB 26 , but did not make it happen. ( I found English explanation is wrong, this car just had a plan , not replaced with a RB 26) Everyone here can tell much more about the car , and check the description made by the auction organizer. Kats
  23. Hi, I replaced a battery (left is a new one, right is an old one 13 years of service! ) and fitted a nice authentic decal. Thanks Jay, this YUASA logo is super cool just like an original battery. A metal early fan is taking a rest in a shelf . Kats
  24. Hi , I am not for sure but it looks like a same filter which we have on our L -series engine . What I was surprised is the filter paper is secured in a metal flame which is riveted. If you want replace it you have to buy a whole thing , i.e a filter paper in a metal flame. I may not be able to buy new filters as they are getting rare and rare, I will have to change the filter using a drill to brake rivets .And hand plying a filter paper which is brought from some other car. Kats
  25. I am ready anytime to measure the box for you ! Kats
