EFI fuel pump ?
Fastwoman and ZedHead, a question. I'm thinking of puttting flat top pistons under my N42 fuel injected head. With the potentiometer's adjustable air/fuel ratio benefits do you think it would run ok? I've got triple Webers but I like FI way better and have a good system, it's all new.

EFI fuel pump ?
If you do decide to do the potiometer route a volume knob at Radio Shack is pretty much what I got. Here it is, 10K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer : Potentiometers | RadioShack.com. You put the bullet connectors on then plug it in between the original bullet connection on top of the intake. I ran mine inside the car so I could play with while driving. It worked wonders without doing any kind of damage to the existing wiring for less than $5. If it didn't help I could just unplug it and plug the old wires back together. That was for testing, now I want 1 like Fastwoman has that goes under the dash with the ecu. Her's is a lot more precise.

Troubleshooting 240z Overheating problem almost solved
Have you taken the water temp sending unit out of the thermostat housing and sanded it down to shiny brass? That will help. Also cleaning the wire connector and maybe squeezing it together to make a tighter fit. Then dialectic grease.

Brackets for bottom of transmission?
I'm taking apart a '82 ZX motor and transmission. When I separated the transmission from the block I didn't close pay attention I guess but when I flipped the block to get the pistons these brackets were there. My 280 or 240 doesn't have them. Are they for 2+2s only or do all ZXs have these? I'll try to use them if I can. Thanks for any replies.

EFI fuel pump ?
Stumbling and bucking were the same words I used to describe my problem. Found out it was the coolant temp sensor needed the potentiometer installed. $5 worth of parts from Radio Shack. Mine stumbled and bucked until about 4,000 RPM then pulled like a tractor. Now it pulls hard all through the RPMs.

EFI fuel pump ?
Can't you pull the bottom hose off the metal fuel filter in the engine bay and put it in a jug? I think that's what I did. It's been a few years!

Some Z's laid to rest
Is it a hit and run evidence car? Like that girl in Texas that had a homeless guy stuck in her front windshield.

Removing/installing fuel tank
Congratulations! Nothing worse than a good running car running out of gas.

fuel delivery not constant
Unhook the fuel line from the top of an injector at the rail and put another short piece of hose on the rail, secure it in a jar or bottle or something. Crank it over and see what comes out. Sounds like a vent line or something is clogged up. Oh yeah! Could a fuel filter arrow be pointing the wrong way? I've done that before.

Some Z's laid to rest
That's amazing. I've been at just about the same type place (240s are gone) the past few weeks. It's been there forever, the owner died and now his kids want to sell the 75 acres of land to the county for a waste station. They have 280Zs and a couple of ZXs, all the good stuff is long gone. It's funny to see a 280 sitting on top of a van!

My best 260Z yet!

'82 ZX 71B tranny
WRONG! It had the older tranny with the speedo cable bolt at 12 o'clock. But I did get some flat tops and another good F54 block. Bargin, buying something I didn't need at a price I couldn't resist.

77 280z running like poop
Backfiring out the tail pipe and sooty = RICH, not enough air. make sure the air filter and piping are clear and clean all your electrical grounds, http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electricalconnections/index.html Backfiring out the Throttle Body = LEAN, too much air. Vacuum leak can be found by using the "yogurt cup test", put that in search box up top.

is there a Blue in the SoCal area?
If you can't find a Blue in your area read the last couple of chapters of that Tom Monroe book a couple of times. I built my first good solid motor by following his directions. The timing chain assembly, the distributor and oil pump drive spindle where the most nerve racking but turned out perfect.
