  1. When I first got started adjusting my valves I went with them straight up, mistakenly. After i figured out how much tilt there is I Sharpied center lines on the cam towers to point the lobes at. Much quieter valve train now. 8^) I think the oil drain is off center Zed, but without climbing under there??? Heres a Zx pan I have upstairs. Its on center with the ridge between the 2nd & 3rd lines like the photo of the OP car.
  2. Looks to me like the cameraman was crouching to the right?
  3. I think I paid less than $10 from a local parts supply, Temko was the brand name if I remember right. You get a free day today thanks to Grannyknot & Captain Obvious!
  4. Now that's 5 Star General Obvious. 8^) Wait a minute, Admiral Obvious.
  5. I packed the cup on mine with grease also the hole it sits in, no noise but as a preempted strike. That's an oily inner boot. Mine are dry rotted and cracking? Good luck!
  6. Did you see this? That's a pretty cool car.
  7. Like "the best injectors" or "the best cam".
  8. They're on "back order" now but you could call and ask about an ETA. http://www.futofab.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131&Itemid=118#a_frontb I put these on mine and am very happy with them. He has a sale at Christmas and probably hasn't gotten his stock back up yet? Good luck.
  9. In the current state (pictures above) I would pull the motor and transmission now. Pretty easy to get all that out of the way now. Your going to paint the engine bay and the steering rack will be accessible. Front suspension would be easier without the weight too. My $.02.
  10. 5 quarts is too much for mine, but just barely and I use the full size Purolator filter.
  11. New brake booster and master cylinders, radiator. It appears to be a driver. I have a very similar car with some rust dimples under the paint and wouldn't take a dime less than $15,000 so being a California car, yep I believe I would. Good luck.
  12. I finally found the article that swayed me over. Opinions on oil are like buttholes, everybody has a better one. It came in 7th and is way cheaper than the other six. I change my oil often. It's easy and like an x-ray of the motor, in my opinion. http://www.chevelles.com/forums/13-performance/448385-zddp-values-high-zinc-oils.html#/topics/448385
  13. Read up on this unless you just want rotella. It has a high zinc content and less expensive than valvoline vr1. I'm running in both my Zs and the valve train is super clean/shiny. Just my $.02
  14. I try and rotate my tires with each oil change. Blue, is she off at school? I like the username change, when it's important I call him P...... When it's a forum question, 240260280. When I'm kidding around, Blue. Cliff, siteunseen, soon to be KliphhasaZ.
  15. Paint fumes! They'll get to you after awhile I've heard.
  16. 240260280 I followed a Rav 4 from gulf shores all the way to Birmingham Tuesday. Girl never got below 90, 100mph was the top though. Must have a shut down speed? I thought about you. Those are some tough cars. 8^)
  17. Wow, that's the craziest thing I've heard today, I think- it's still not over. The cops around here get your house and cars. Sale them or use them as undercover assets.
  18. Tea bagging that motor???
  19. Don't ever sale your's!
  20. I replaced everything with the efi, dropped the tank cleaned and coated, rebuilt the motor and took it for it's maiden voyage. Spit and sputtered until 2,500 then pulled like a tractor. I tried fooling with everything and the TVS was my best conclusion after reading about how it worked. The contact hitting WOT at 2,500 had me convinced. Ended up being the ECU drifting out of spec on the coolant temp circuit. Fixed it for $5 and 30 minutes with a potentiometer but we know that's not your problem so I go back to the TVS. Good luck, I hope you get it figured out. I want to see it when you wax it up nice and shiny.
  21. Is this the one?
  22. This guy did a fantastic build of a '75 280, then sold it. Here's the sale thread. Read down to the bottom of the first post and click on the build thread.
  23. Don't you love that 240! Are you watching the tvs while twisting the throttle rod? Does it come off the rear contact when you give it fuel then click on the front when you get around 2,500? I bent the vanes on mine to get it to do that right, closer together if I remember right. Save all your part boxes for storage space under the bridge.

That's what it's about! Sharing parts is great. Mark you are a shiny trophy on my shelf. 8^) Cliff
