  1. I was thinking a high lift/duration cam would negate the pinging from pump gas? I hope so or I've bought the makings of a grenade.
  2. Questions for an audiophile. Is there a way for me to put a 3.5 plug on an OE 240Z radio? What is the red with blue stripe, the ground? I see the fuse on the power and the speaker wire so all that's left would be ground, right? I know how to turn one on/off and the volume knob makes it louder but not much else. Thanks for any help. Here's what the back looks like;
  3. Those look great! Glad your gremlin was an easy fix. I've got the scallop hubcaps on my 110, slotted aluminium are in storage. That red Z on the hubcaps look better to me also.
  4. Talking about real motorcycles got me thinking of @rossiz Where have you been Geoff? Hope you're doing well. Cliff
  5. I've got a set but I'm gonna see what Matthew does then copy-cat his build. I used the 8mm in my 2.4, balanced them at like 438 grams IIRC. Put APR bolts in. With an aluminum flywheel it spins up like a motorcycle, not a Hog, a real motorcycle.
  6. Wow that fresh paint looks fantastic! I like matching the spoiler to the car. That 2x4 holding up the bonnet scares me. Tie it up to a rafter overhead. That's how I remove mine and reinstall by myself.
  7. I had one helluva time with plug until I remembered I had a torch. My old fluid looked like Sunkist.
  8. Could you direct us to dyno numbers for that build? I know how happy you are with it and Jeff G 78, an auto engineer says it's the best all around. P79 modified, .30 over flat tops in.an f54 block. I'm about to, this fall, do a n42 combo with flat tops and going from efi to SUs on my 280. See how that works out. Might do a cam swap while I'm at it. I'll have to get a job with Clinton and Kaine to afford it.
  9. Metric the same length. Slight filing of the peg, repainted the exposed steel and everything is groovy on mine. I recommend Beck Arnley if you don't want to spend $150 at Nissan.
  10. Dang! I just got a haircut reading that. You know, it went right over my head.
  11. If you want a good running motor, read up on Dizeased man at Datsun Spirit Eliji I believe. He has a solid build obviously, ie those five 240s. Rebello is a name brand now, I've read a few unsatisfied reviews on his shop. @Kurbycar32 was one. I'd like to know how his money spent is working now.
  12. 240s don't have those tacked on nuts. That's how I immediately knew something was off about the cheap mounts. Do 280s have those? I don't think mine did and am too lazy to walk down and look. It's hotter than two foot up a goats arse!
  13. I hated to speak out of turn but I keep up with my heroes and felt confident in saying what I said.
  14. I used Beck Arnleys on mine and had to file a small amount off the top of the peg, not too much though. They were about $18 each compared to $70 for Nissan's. Those Anchor and DEA are $4. Beck Arnley were made much better, the rubber was tight fitting. One size fits all is the problem, same with timing kits now.
  15. I'll go out on a limb here and say they are the original motors from his collection and a spare.
  16. Looks like that part number has been replaced with https://www.google.com/search?q=MSD+Ignition+22256&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=MSD+Ignition+22256&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  17. The antenna switch goes in the space above the word TUNE. Those arrows are for the antenna UP and DOWN. This is my faceplate off my 01/'72 I think zcardepot.com has the best deal on an electric antenna, FWIW.
  18. When I read Blue would sale his I figured there was a downside.
  19. This is the closest I could find to what I read in the past. When I first bought my '77 the doors would lock but I would have to crawl through the hatch to unlike them, still do, I've yet to fix it. The article I read was on classiczcars.com but I can't find it now. It was talking about the rod connecting through the plastic retainers, the plastic would wear out and they fixed theirs by bending the rod. This thread kinda sorta touches on it, http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/91565-driver-s-door-lock.html But I agree with Greg, if it bounces back it's most likely in the striker.
  20. Past the ramps! Can't edit from my phone, don't understand that.
  21. I used a tire changing tool for dirt bikes, we always called them spoons, flat steel with the ends angled up for prying under the beads. Put one across the locking ring and turned it until it hit the notches pass the ramps.
  22. Is your's completely missing? Mine was busted so until I get a new mirror cut I've stuck the biggest circular one in there. It works pretty good too. They sale them as a farther distance view mirror, like for people pulling campers or boats. Cost less than $5 at walmart and just sticks on.
  23. I've read where people have to re-bend the rod to tighten all that back to the original feel.
  24. Are going with the cable throttle pull later on?
  25. When I rebuilt my FI 280 I went #3 from advice from a mechanic, I wish I'd put it #2 though. On my 2.4 rebuild I recently finished I went with #2. Tom Monroe's book says use #2 if you run a ground cam. Glad to here your confirmation. Thanks! Oh yeah, we have the same head and grind I believe. I haven't put mine together yet and am running the freshend up e88 until I can rebuild the e31.
