  1. How far north are you? I've got a red valve cover I'd trade! I'm in the panhandle once a month or so. Destin, Navarre beach. Gulf shores today. Construction, general contractor company.

I think I found something at Lowe's that worked. Let me find my thread and see, prolly tomorrow though. I drove to Gulf shores and turned in a bid today, then drove back home. 10 hours! I'm working on my nerves now. I'll fall into the bed soon.
  3. It was an '82 Hydrostream that was scratched up really bad when I bought in '93? so I wet sanded the top cap then turned it upside down and wet sanded the bottom. And yes I paid a guy to clear coat with automotive material. Looked great but got milky after 4 or 5 years. Had some of the best times in my life with that boat, sold it and made a nice profit. It was a 100mph river racer when I got through with it. 2.5 Mercury with 300 horse OMC carbs. 28 pitch prop turning 8,200 or 8,500 rpms, can't remember now. Quarter mile "run what you brung" on Friday evenings I had the second fastest boat with a 24" cleaver Yamaha prop. Then the short shaft 300 horse fuel injected motors came out. My reign was destroyed by Allison drag boats. 8^( Oh the memories! Not mine but close...

Could it be at the transmission connection? Maybe the cog is striped? That'd be wun der full.
  5. Do you guys think there's a difference in the 240 & 280s color? I was thinking the 280s are more of blackish color but I'm color dumb. My 280's faded all to hell.
  6. I bet I've copied and pasted @CanTechZ method 20 times since he first shared that. Thank You CanTechZ! You've helped a lot of folks out with that information. Cliff
  7. Not sure what Motorman used but these look good. Maybe the same spray?
  8. Doesn't clear coat break down or get cloudy after awhile? I know my boat did after a few years but it was very much in the ultra violet rays. My cars stay in the garage 80 percent of the time. I'm about to get my 280 painted and any info would be helpful. Thanks.
  9. This is the best one I've seen. I used a Dupli Color wheel color that looks good enough but has a little too much metallic for me, I'll redo it someday.
  10. Stock exhaust manifold is good I've always heard unless you have the hot restart problem. Ceramic header fixes that. I got the header and premium 2.5" for around $500 from msa during a Christmas sale I believe. That combo is the best sounding I've heard on a Z. Sounds as good as a ribeye sizzling.
  11. That fuel soaked oil makes a cylinder head shine like new.
  12. They have the blue in a gel pen type thing, I like that a lot. Works great on threads and won't drip or run off. You'll soon see the zcardepot bolts are a little off. My oil pump and water pump needed extra washers to tighten up snug enough to click my torque wrench. Great bolt set and you'll have the extra washers as he includes EVERYTHING.
  13. There's a cheap way to clean and coat the tank also a couple of diy fuel rails. I've got a efi car and a SU car. The carbs scream and beg for more fuel/power. Efi is nice and smells good. I will gather up some post from older threads maybe tomorrow, it's supposed to rain and I'll be stuck inside. You're going on vacation so we'll have plenty of time. Enjoy yourself and time spent with the family. Cliff
  14. Here they're talking about a 17 pound Maxima flywheel.
  15. I have a light weight, 10 or 11 pounds, aluminium on my 240. takes a minute getting used to it but is fine after that. I really like it. You may could get your OE one to 15lbs? I like the the Exedy kit, have it on both my 225mm manual coupes. https://www.amazon.com/EXEDY-06009-OEM-Replacement-Clutch/dp/B001B5D7TE
  16. Have a hose pipe or fire extinguisher on the ready too. Don't get mad at me but swapping in SU carbs was very popular in the late 70s, early 80s. The "computer" on our Zs only ran the EFI, FYI. Once they're set you're good to go. 8^) $500 give or take. Like an old VW too.
  17. If it runs straight wired, tape the wire down the passenger's side and take your maiden voyage. Not too far though.
  18. I googled "fastwoman yogurt cup test classiczcars.com" Works every time.
  19. Amazing how handling things gives them a cleaner look. Alligator clips for the pump and the battery I suppose. Fortunately I had a bad charger I robbed the clamps off of. I use it more than I thought testing things. 20ft of speaker wire. Hell an old 25ft extension cord would work too.
  20. I would get a section of low psi fuel hose, 3 or 4 feet. Attach that to the suck side of pump and drop the other end in a 2.5 gallon gas jug. Bypassing the tank altogether. That's what I would do.
  21. Looking good! Congratulations.
  22. I'm going to have to favor Mark's thought process, sorry but I say replace when possible. Availability of parts and pocket money if and when you can.
  23. Hard to find the original thread like Eurodat says. Here's the best I could do with my phone. Hope you find something useful. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49816-help-with-yogurt-cup-test-please/
